3. Course introduction
This course is designed to give introduction to graduates not only
with a Sound Grounding in Computer Science fundamentals, but also
who have the multi-disciplinary breadth that includes Knowledge of
English Grammar and enhancing Four Language Learning Skills. It is
specially designed to improve their Critical thinking, so that the
students can make an immediate impact in their relevant field,
either in the Academic Research or CS industry domains. Ultimately
the program aims to generate the Future Leaders or Superheroes of
the National and international CS industry and Computing field.
Moreover, this course will enable students to succeed in their FYP in
the later semesters as they will learn Pitching the idea, critical
thinking and an Entrepreneurial mindset right from the beginning.

This course includes the following major

• Parts of speech
• Sentence and its types
• Tenses
• Active and passive voice
• Strategies to improve four language skills
• Punctuation
• Comprehensions
• Paragraph writing
• Different types of essay writing.
5. COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:
• Students will be able to classify different parts of speech to
show the relation of words to each other.
• Apply different grammatical functions and concepts in their
oral and written communication and demonstrate control of
mechanics.
• Analyze variety of reading strategies to foster comprehension
and to construct personally meaningful and relevant
connections to the text and interpreting different approaches
of life.
• Evaluate the drafts by participating in peer assessment as
both reviewer and writer to develop critical thinking.
• Write clear sentences and construct paragraphs and essays
by employing a writing process and using supporting details,
examples, and evidences.
• Develop language skills by having learners engaged in a
range of communicative tasks and activities from CO1 to

6. Importance of this course
In today’s corporate world, English language is the key which opens
numerous doors to success. Our students need to prepare themselves
for this world where English is the international mode of
communication. This course will not only improve the written and
spoken communication skills of the students, it is also designed to
enhance their personality, boost their confidence and develop their
critical thinking. As students of Computer science, this course will
enable the students to demonstrate their innovative ideas in a creative
and proper manner.

8. Assessments • Assignments will be accepted
in Word Document only,
however, your mid-term and
final will be accepted in
handwritten form.
• Students are required to submit
their assignments before
deadline. Late submissions will
not be accepted.
• If a student is caught cheating
or plagiarizing, they will
automatically get a zero for the
assessment and may face
severe penalty.

• Mid-term Paper
• 2 Presentations
• Final Paper
10. Attendance policy
• Students are not allowed any leave according to
university’s policy. You will only be marked absent in
case of not attending the class.
• 75% attendance is required for students to be able to
appear in the exams.
• Regular late comers will be marked absent.
11. Class discipline / general rules:
• Students are expected to use only polite and respectful language
and behave with decorum in class.
• You are required to be punctual in the class. Regular late comers will
face penalty.
• Any student misbehaving in the classroom shall at once be reported
to the college authorities by the teacher.
• Use of Mobiles/Cameras is strictly prohibited in the classrooms.
• The college authorities reserve the right to revise any class schedule
or to re-arrange the classes.
• You are required to submit the assignments before the deadline.
Late submissions will not be accepted.
• You are encouraged to ask questions, actively participate in the class.
But make sure to not cause any disruption in the classroom.
