3. INTRODUCTION
The locomotives of India presently consist of electric and diesel
locomotives
Diesel Locomotives are the locomotives that run on diesel as there
fuel. The diesel locomotives are in a wide range of use even though
being running of a non-renewable resource because of their power
capacity. The diesel locomotives are widely used goods as compared
to passenger use. The Diesel engines are used only for high altitude.
The Diesel Engines Were Previously Imported from United states of
America and Assembled in India. But After The setup Of Diesel
Locomotive Works (DLW), Varanasi They are Produced in here only.
Right Now there are produced in collaboration with Electromotive
Division (EMD) , An Subsidiary of General Motors
