This document describes the creation of a website called FreeTamilEbooks that provides free Tamil ebooks. It started when the author wanted to read Tamil books on their Kindle but it did not support Tamil. They found a solution by creating smaller PDF files that would fit on the Kindle. They then wanted to share the ebooks more widely so created the website using free open source software. It is a community project involving several organizations and they encourage others to contribute books under Creative Commons licenses.
