SEO stands for search engine optimization. At its core, SEO is the process of making your site rank as high as possible on Google when someone types in “Digital Marketing”.
> There are a ton of technical SEO factors – site structure, anchor text, URL structure, and so forth.
> Metadata is the title and lines of text that show up on the search results page.
> The more high-quality, relevant links you acquire, the higher your site will likely rank for related key terms.
> User experience (UX) plays a substantial role in how well your website will rank on Google.
> Google’s move makes sense because more than 50% of traffic worldwide is generated from a mobile device.

Every once in a while somebody says SEO is dead, and they are always
proven wrong. Nearly two decades into the 21st century, SEO continues being
essential in securing high rankings for websites and profits for businesses.
SEO Practices for Blogs - Stop Blogging a Dead HorseMichael Jones
"Stop Blogging a Dead Horse" is a presentation I originally gave back at the June 2015 SEO Melbourne Meetup and inspired by an internal SEO training session I gave back while working for my last company.
I think it's common practice these days that everyone knows they need to blog, but have they even thought for a second on:
- Why they're actually doing it?
- Knowing what to write
- How to maximise it's impact?
- Is it working?
Hopefully through this presentation I can give you a few useful tips and guidance through the eyes on a SEO person. If i can make sure that at least 1 blog post goes out with an optimised <title> tag, my work here is done!
I have also created another presentation a while ago called "The SEOs Guide to Making a Website". Make sure you check it out.

Successful marketers around the world have used small niche websites to not only get started making money from the internet but also to amass large amounts of wealth. One downside to affiliate based income, though, is that it’s actually harder to scale than other types of business models.
Getting your feet wet with affiliate websites is still one of the best ways to break into making money from the internet.
Now that Amazon has opened the doors to their Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) program, it’s never been easier to convert from making money with smaller affiliate based niche sites, into running full blown eCommerce operations worth millions of dollars.

Jarkko Oksanen from Serviceform.com presented this at Sun and Co in 2018.
In the slides you can find a simple explanation of how doing SEO can help you, things you can do to improve your SEO and links to great resources.

Search Engine Optimization
In a nutshell the idea is that you would make
sure to provide text about your site in key areas
to help search engines understand your site
better.
12. search engines evolve
Each search engine has its own unique
algorithm. The algorithms change in order to
stay above the fray, providing answers that are
relevant and trustworthy.
13. ● Location, Location, Location
● Forget about Key“words,” go for the “long-tail”
Research, research, and more
Research
14. ● A/S/L
● Where do they hang out? Pinterest? Twitter? Reddit?
● What is important to this audience?
● What do you provide for them and what would they value in
that relationship?
Think like your audience, talk like
your audience

24. SEO CHECKLIST
Length of Text
Find a balance. You want to be as descriptive as possible without over spamming your site with too much
text that people won’t read or seem spammy to google.
Title and Header or Headings
AKA the H1 tag, Make sure to write descriptive sentences as much as possible in the H1, H2, H3.
Mobile
Is your site friendly to small screens? Text large enough? Links far away from each other enough so that
they are easy to click on? Flash elements?
Page Speed
Does your site take too long to load? Slow loading time can be cause by having image files that are too
large or perhaps you just have too many. Do you have a lot of widgets on your page? Keep only the
essentials.
Images
Look through your images, make sure that you take advantage of the title and “alt text” area to plug in
some keywords. Always be sure that the title of your image is still a correct representation of the image we
see.
Navigation
Is it easy for people to get to the various pages of your site to find the information that they need? Make
sure to make navigation simple and visible!
25. Here’s a quick test…
See your site the way google sees
it
30. Don’t try to hide keywords either by adding them only to the
code nor by making them transparent or putting them in super
small text AKA “CLOAKING”
Don’t title your images with a bunch of keywords that do not
describe what’s actually on the image.
Don’t write the same keywords over and over again AKA
“Keyword Stuffing”
Don’t create extra pages just for the sake of more keywords.
Using Flash for any of your media or content.
Do not have a fake website or business by another name to try
to generate multiple leads AKA “Domain Parking”
Thou shalt not commit these SEO
atrocities:
