Stage 6 Intimacy Vs Isolation (Ages 18-30)
What occurs during stage 6? this usually occurs during the ages of 18-30    an individual tries to have some degree of intimacy rather than being isolate     intimacy means to be able to be close to others.   you can be intimate as a lover, friend,or people in your society    the oppostie of being intimate is to isloate yourself from love, friendships, and your community   one develops hatred to achieve isolation   this mostly effects the partners and friends     
Maladaptation (having too much!) CAUSE: having fear of commitment tendancy to become intimate too easliy and freely  moving around a lot as a child  EFFECT :(on personality) being promiscuious not being able to sustain a long-lasting relationship (shallow v. deep)
Examples of being promiscuious:   sleeping with many partners always in search of a new partner
Relationships & Friendships (virtures) Young adults being able to make long lasting friends Begin to fall in love This impacts their "later in life" personality
Examples of having right balance: being understanding    feeling love and care towards the people around you
