2. Definition of Intertextuality
• Definition-The term Intertextuality refers to
the process of creating references to any kind
of media text via another media text. In other
words Intertextuality essentially means for a
type of media(film,television,music etc) to pay
homage to another media text.
3. 3 Types of Intertextuality
• Pastiche: An artistic work in a style that
imitates that of another work, artist, or
period.
• Parody: An imitation of the style of a
particular writer, artist, or genre with
deliberate exaggeration for comic effect.
• Homage: special honour or respect shown
publicly.

• An example of a music video which uses
‘pastiche’ is: Will.i.am- Bang Bang.
5. Parody
