- 2. • The Internetacts as a carrier for several different services, each with its own distinct features and purposes. • The most commonly used Internet services are: World Wide Web, electronic mail, news, file transport protocol, chat etc.
- 3. The WorldWide Web is a large information system where you can surf and get information. It consists of several public and private websites which may be interlinked and accessible over the internet worldwide. www is also known as web.
- 4. Web documentscan be linked together because they are created in a format know as hypertext. Hypertext system provides an easy way to manage large collection of data. To support hypertext documents , the web uses a special protocol , called Hypertext Transfer Protocol.
- 5. A webbrowser is a software application designed to find hypertext documents on the web and then the documents on the user’s computer. Commonly used web browsers are : Google chrome, internet Explorer,opera,etc.
- 6. Every Webpage has a unique address , called a Uniform Resource Locator , or URL. URLs are the key to navigating the Web. When you provide a URL to the browser, the browser finds that the URL’s Web page then transfer the Web page to your PC.
- 7. A hyperlinkis a simply a part of the Web that is linked to a URL. A hyperlink can appear as text , an image, or a navigational tool such as a button or an arrow. Hyperlink text usually looks different from normal text in a Web page.
- 8. An Electronicmail or e-mail can be defined as the process of exchanging messages electronically through a communications network by using computer.
