Contraceptives in pharmacies exist because views changed and methods like sterilization, IUDs, implants and injections are over 99% effective while condoms, diaphragms, pills and patches range from 85-98% effectiveness in preventing pregnancy. Without contraception, sexually active people risk unwanted pregnancy and STDs like AIDS, hepatitis and herpes.
Eating disorders
Eating disorders like obesity, anorexia, and bulimia affect many people worldwide, especially teenagers. In the United States, as many as 10% of young women suffer from an eating disorder. Eating disorders are caused by unhealthy, oily fast food and a desire to emulate thin fashion models. Proper nutrition is important for health and happiness, so people should eat homemade, balanced meals instead of fast food and focus on overall wellness rather than just weight or appearance.
Alcohol
Drinking alcohol in parks can negatively impact health as even small amounts lead to impaired coordination, slowed reaction time, slurred speech and blurred vision. Heavy drinking poses serious risks like heart failure and respiratory failure. For youth, drinking is also illegal and can have worse health effects than for adults due to ongoing development.
Bullying
Bullying is a serious problem that occurs when more powerful people repeatedly act violently towards less powerful individuals. It can take place in schools, churches, workplaces, homes, and neighborhoods. Victims of bullying often suffer long-term emotional and behavioral issues like loneliness, depression, and anxiety, and bullying leads to several suicides each year. Everyone has the right to live without feeling bullied, so victims should speak up when they are being bullied so it can be stopped.
Anorexia
The document discusses the negative health effects of pursuing perfection, as perfection does not exist. Instead of seeking the impossible goal of perfection, it is better to aim for good health, which is achievable. Pursuing an abnormally low heart rate and blood pressure can lead to heart failure, heart attacks, and other issues like hair loss, bone weakness, muscle loss, and even death in some cases. Dr. Christiaan Neethling Barnard was a South African cardiac surgeon who performed the world's first human-to-human heart transplant in 1967. He was born in 1922 in South Africa and studied medicine at the University of Cape Town, later doing postgraduate work in cardiothoracic surgery in the United States. On December 3, 1967, Barnard led a team of 30 doctors in a nine-hour operation that transplanted the heart of Denise Darvall into Louis Washkansky, who lived 18 days with the new heart. After this breakthrough surgery, Barnard became internationally renowned but also faced criticism from some in the medical field. He went on to write several books and papers on heart trans

Wilhelm Röntgen was a German physicist born in 1845 who made groundbreaking discoveries about X-rays in 1895. While experimenting with cathode rays, he observed that a nearby piece of cardboard coated with fluorescent material glowed without being touched. He continued his experiments and found that he could see the bones of his hand through flesh using this new kind of ray. Röntgen went on to take the first ever X-ray photo, of his wife's hand. He shared his discovery widely, and it had a huge impact, leading to his being awarded the first Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901.
