The participants of the Ibero-American Countries Agreement International Forum Ponte Al 100 Energy Balance in Cancún, Quintana Roo, México on August 29, 2014 were concerned about the harmful impacts of physical inactivity, overweight, and obesity. They resolved to adopt measures promoting policies, programs, and spaces to ensure physical activity is practiced by all, and were interested in creating standard indicators to measure the negative economic impacts of physical inactivity, overweight, and obesity. Considering international agreements and guidelines from UNESCO and WHO, the participants expressed interest in promoting initiatives that prioritize physical activity and education to prevent overweight and obesity.

The participants:
Aware of the fact that physical inactivity plays a determining role not only in
the overweight pandemic and obesity but in all Non-Communicable Diseases
impacting national economies in education and health public systems.
Concerned of the harmful impact of overweight and obesity in global public
health and the alarming growth in developed and developing countries,
especially in children and youth.
Conscious of the fact that governments have to play a guiding and leading
role in the design, implementation, surveillance and evaluation of medium
and long term inclusive, specific and intersectional public policies and
strategies that will provide the necessary tools to promote awareness and
the general knowledge on the adoption of healthy life habits as well as the
positive potential of performing physical activity.
Resolved to adopt measures that promote the creation, identification and
maintenance of adequate policies, programs and spaces that ensure
practicing physical activity under conditions of equality and with no
restriction based on age, race, color, gender, sexual orientation, mental or
physical disability, nationality, language, religion, political opinion, social
origin, property, birth or any other status.

2. Stressing the significance of establishing cooperation relationships amongst
public institutions, civil society organizations and companies of the private
sector that promote the adoption of policies and actions to encourage the
dissemination, promotion, mobilization of resources and collaborative
research.
Showing solidarity in prioritizing the use of the time students spend in
educational centers as it is one of the most efficient places to modify the life
style of children, teen agers and to enhance Physical Education and Health
programs.
Interested in creating standard indicators that measures the impact of
physical inactivity, overweight and obesity in national economies and their
negative impact on Gross Domestic Product.
Considering the objectives established in the International Charter of Physical
Education and Sport; the Fifth International Conference of Ministers and
Senior Officials in Charge of Physical Education and Sport adopted in Berlin,
Germany in 2013 sponsored by UNESCO and its follow-up meetings, as well
as programs, strategies and guidelines promoted by the World Health
Organization and UNESCO.
We express our interest in studying the possibility of promoting all those
international initiatives that prioritize physical activity and education that
prevent Overweight and Obesity.
