3. Founded in 1993, the International Congress on
Aesthetic and Anti-aging Medicine originated as
a way to create and advance the then-emerging
field of aesthetic medicine. Physicians who
practice aesthetic medicine and surgery treat
patients with conditions in such areas as
aesthetic gynecology, dermatology, and anti-
aging medicine.

4. The Polish Association of Aesthetic and Anti-
aging Medicine organized the ICAAM, which
began as the Section of Aesthetic Medicine.
Twenty years later, the founding association
continues to organize the global event. In
October 2013, the ICAAM three-day conference
took place in Warsaw, Poland. Physicians from
around the world presented on such topics as
advanced lip correction, social problems of
obesity, and the genetics of aging.
