Virtual Reality (VR) Continuum - AMP New VenturesAMP New Ventures
If the Internet is the sharing of information, then Virtual Reality (VR) is the sharing of experiences; and if most customer experiences are digital, then Virtual Reality (VR) must be important, for it is the next frontier in digital.
VR immerses users in indistinguishably real simulated environments, while Augmented Reality (AR) blends the digital into our physical environments. In the past month, PlayStation VR was released along with Google VR, to join a global ecosystem of VR content, infrastructure and platforms startups, projected to be worth $160bn by 2020.
Given It will transform experiences across industries, including Financial Services, and the expert consensus is that mainstream adoption is ~5 years away, we recommend Financial Services companies start exploring VR/AR possibilities now.
Below is my recap for CES 2016. I distilled the event into 6 strategic territories:
1) The New Reality - This section outlines the various virtual reality offerings presented
2) 3D Everything - A look at the advancements in 3D printing & scanning
3) Beyond Screens - This is a comprehensive look at new forms of computing and ways to connect with consumers with light
4) Accessories that Empower - A key factor in digital growth has been the creation of systems that empower consumers to create, be it images, videos, etc... This section focuses on the next evolution of accessories that will empower the creation of immersive experiences.
5) Smarter Home - There is an arms race to be the primary hub for the smart home. This section provides examples from Lowe's, LG and others who are working to connect IoT systems and the profitable ecosystem of sensors that accompany it
6) Intelligent Robotics - Emotive robotics and artificial intelligence will fundamentally change consumer behavior. This is a recap of intelligent robotic systems that were on display at CES 2016.
To say it is difficult to see and do everything that CES has to offer is an understatement. In fact, the only easy part is consistently hitting 10,000+ steps on your tracker every day! But we were prepared, using our 2017 Fjord Trends as a guide, to uncover the most inspiring work and topics that will continue to evolve this coming year.
Interactive Technology & Marketing In 2012tomchapman
We all are well versed with touch screens, and many have annoyed Siri with voice commands, but exciting developments are happening in the areas of gesture recognition, face detection, eye tracking, thought and smell. All of these available interactions will have a profound impact on the way people interact with technology, so much so that in the not too-distant future, we will interact with technology in the same way we interact with each other – naturally!
We recently ran an agency briefing session on interactive technology; the underlying theme of the presentation was the emergence of natural user interface or NUI.

Observations and insights on #MWC17 trends and technologies from Kinetic, the global leader in contextually connecting and activating audiences on the move.
I/O developer’s conference emerged out with some really interesting facades this year presented by Google. The introduction of updated version of Virtual Reality viewer Cardboard and Android M from its android application development section, Google has made sure to provide some electrifying products from its campaign for its users in the future ahead.
Prior to the start of the new year we published our 2017 trend framework (http://engage.epsilon.com/top-trends-for-2017) this document sets the foundation for how we identify macro trend territories that have the highest probability of creating new behaviors and empower consumers through the lens of Connection, Cognition & Immersion in the near future.
CES 2017 was our first opportunity to further validate the territories but more importantly identify some of the key tech trends that will have a major impact on marketing over the next few years. In the attached document you will find an in-depth review of key trends such as the impact a connected product ecosystem and how Alexa Voice Services are quickly positioning to scale quickly through 3rd party integrations. You will also find examples of new types of interfaces and input devices that may further lead to an ambient computing future.
2017 is also the turning point from “everything will be connected” to everything will be cognified”. The impact of artificial intelligence will be a big topic in 2017 and Epsilon is uniquely positioned to capitalize (look for more on this topic on January 19th via an industry AI op-ed). CES validated the idea of pervasive cognition as well as advancements via contextual assistants and object recognition. The rapidly developing immersion ecosystem built on full sensory immersion, spatial freedom and alternative interfaces also caught our attention.
This 142-page trend report captures the highlights from the first-ever virtual CES event. We always say that CES is a preview of what to expect in the year ahead, and this year was no exception. Not only was CES 2021 filled with exciting and innovative new product announcements, it also encapsulated how the global pandemic forced the rapid acceleration of numerous fields in consumer electronics.

Hybrid solutions for exhibitions stand designSerena Ferrari
FROM EXHIBITION STAND DESIGN TO EXPERIENCE DESIGN.
COVID-19 has accelerated the integration of virtual and in-person event and exhibition delivery, requiring a fundamental change in how we engage with customers to maintain relevance.
Furthermore, a recent GES USA survey has revealed that to most people hybrid is another way to attend virtually or in-person and not a differentiated format.
The main challenge for exhibition stand designers and event planners is how to make the hybrid experience meaningful, and the technology easy to use.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
