The document proposes an interdisciplinary plan to implement an electronic billing system at a healthcare facility. It discusses conducting interviews to understand issues with the current system, such as lack of transparency and higher costs. The objectives of the new plan are to improve efficiency, lower costs, increase collaboration, and ensure patient privacy. It will use change management theories like Lewin's model to help adoption. The plan requires resources like IT specialists, training, and software costs totaling around $350,000.

ECG management consultants. (2007). The Strategic Imperative of Adapting the Hospital’s Management Structure. Insight, 1-6. http://www.healthleadersmedia.com/content/86219.pdf
a)
The author points out that many hospitals are struggling with how to execute strategic plans effectively in their organizational structure. These institutions lack efficient decision-making processes, accountability for the performance of key strategies and the recognition of the importance of hospital strategies to propel them to new business. The key challenge in provider-based organizations is their inability to focus their strategies on the provision of high-quality patient care services. Hospitals should stop focusing on performance-driven traditional strategies and instead align their strategies to focus on a service line.
To ensure that such procedures are executed efficiently, it is important that their organizational structures are informed by the care service strategy. The organizational structure should ensure that the strategy is encompassed in their strategic plan, organizational control structure, management responsibilities and physician leadership. In today’s world, patients are seeking more care on their heart conditions, cancer or other illnesses or injuries rather than on traditional hospital departments such as nursing, physical therapy or radiology. By focusing on patient care functions along these service lines, hospitals can optimize performance. The organizational structure should also be streamlined to support key strategies. Laying a strong foundation for the organization structure is important to ensure that key strategies are executed effectively. The control structure should also be flexible enough to adapt to shifts in strategy. Introducing changes such as a focus on traditional performance-driven strategies to a service line is sometimes stalled due to a rigid management structure. It is important to have a flexible control structure to facilitate decision-making processes that are most times challenged by poor leadership structures.
b)
Given the opportunity, I would correct an inefficient hospital strategy by reorganizing the organizational structure to focus entirely on key strategies of a service line. Clinical services, planning, marketing and public affairs are some of the new elements that I would to traditional organizational structures in hospitals. This way, any shifts in strategies can easily be adapted due to a flexible control structure. At the same time, as a leader, I would focus on building value around my employees by assigning them responsibilities based on the right service lines. This will ensure that they remain accountable for their performance and use of resources along with their service lines. A good management structure is also necessary to maintain a good relationship between the business strategy and the performance of my employees.

HSA 315 Health Information Systems
Information technology (IT) has undergone significant improvements thereby requiring organizations to integrate these technologies to remain competitive. Considerably, health institutions are striving to improve primary care delivery, a facet that can be attained by incorporating the use of IT in service delivery. Information technology systems enable these institutions to streamline their processes based on its ability to improve the communication aspect of the system. Enhanced communication between employees and management simplify the organization’s operations as information can be shared in real time. Notably, healthcare institutions have priorities that must be addressed adequately to ensure that both the patients and stakeholders are satisfied with the organization’s service delivery system. Based on this, the institutions ought to retain IT management personnel to sustain its processes. This paper discusses the responsibilities and characteristics of the Chief Information and Chief Technology Officers. Additionally, the paper outlines how technologies can be used to improve healthcare processes, approaches to prevent misuse of information by upholding data privacy, strategies for organizations to train providers in using IT, and best practices for efficient IT alignment with strategic planning initiatives.
Characteristics and Roles of a CTO and a CIO
Often people confuse the two important senior leadership roles within the health care organization, the Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer (Wager, Lee and Glaser 2013). Despite this, they have distinct tasks that must be performed to ensure the smooth running of the healthcare organization. Primarily, the CTO ensures that the institution’s services are tailored to meet the needs of the consumers. Notably, technological innovations are continually evolving thereby the organizations should retain an individual who is conversant with the new changes whenever they occur. In this regard, the CTO has the responsibility of advising top-level executives on strategic decisions regarding technology (Stephens, Ledbetter, Mitra & Ford, 2011). Additionally, the CTO identifies, evaluates and examines high return and high-risk IT systems with the potential of its application within the organization. As a result, the CTO must assess and monitor technologies for use in better service delivery in the future. The CTO’s focus is the client whereby he/she uses technology to foster collaboration amid suppliers and management to promote the organization’s services (Stephens, Ledbetter, Mitra & Ford, 2011). As the CTO works in the external environment, he/she can comprehend what is working in other institutions and apply it within the organization.

Based on the results of the SWOT analysis, what should Barbara recommend as an overall strategy?
From the SWOT analysis, the overall strategy that Barbara should recommend is a system that is capable of meeting the needs of the healthcare facility effectively and efficiently. The strategy focuses on having systems that are fast to allow for easy processing of information and offer quality support to the patients. It should also have a high level of functionality to allow for the normalizing, analyzing, access and the storage of the entire patient's data and saving it for easy retrieving in the future. The system should also be user-friendly so that the professionals and the staff using it can be in a position to easily maneuver in the process of care delivery. The other component of the system that the company should consider is that it should have a wide range of features to enhance maximum utilization and the ease of data access by the patients and physicians. Finally, the medical professionals should also be trained on how to use the system upon implementation.
How will the selection of the chosen EHR system contribute to the strategy? Further explain why it was the best choice.
One of the ways in which the selection of eClinical works EHR will contribute to strategy is that it is the ability to maintain highly organized data; it’s fast and also has amazing features. The EHR system adapted for use in the organization should be in a position to increase effectiveness, efficiency, achieve quality in the delivery of care and also enhance the patient’s outcomes (Sinha et al., 2013). Due to its organization, the system will make it easy for the health care professionals to retrieve the patients’ information while at the same time ensuring security to prevent access of the patient information by unauthorized persons. The e-Clinical works will also contribute to the strategy because it offers low and affordable prices and has low maintenance costs and this aids in the reduction of the costs that the healthcare facilities incur in the maintenance. The other way in which the system will contribute to the strategy is that it has a wide scope of features which make it easy for the patients and the physicians to login into their portals and interact with each other.

As a manager in Ford Rehabilitation centre, I have encountered several challenges in both external environment and internal environment that have greatly challenged the increasing demands of my patients’ services as well as failure of the reimbursements of funds by the insurance providers. Environmental conditions normally affect human health in varied means. Interactions between the environment and human health usually lead to very complex ethical queries that are related to health policy decisions. There are various factors in the environment that can lead to risks and the same time benefits. They include genetically modified plants, nanotechnology, bio fuels and other technology. There is a body of evidence that have emerged saying that environment can affect the health of human being and at the same time human health can have impact to the environment.
The external factors are factors in the environment that cannot be controlled by an organization. There are several external factors that affect many health organizations; these factors include political conditions, government policies and regulations, technological environment and social environment. In my organization the two key external factors affecting my company are the social environment and technological environment. Social factors have developed challenge in the Ford rehabilitation centre. This is because many patient customers have varied and different types of beliefs which make the relations in the health centre challenged. It have become problematic to deal with some patients since it is difficult to know the type of services they need based on where they have come from. Various patients have diverse transformation in attitude towards health care. The patients are however very demanding in my organization because each one of them needs to be handled differently based on community variations. In order to curb this, as manager I have decided to implement several programs that will promote cooperation between my patients as well amendments that will bring in suitable services to each patient. Implementation of this programs will enable my organization to continue being indispensible and financially stable despite the social challenges affecting the availability of patients in the organization.
Another external factor in the environment that will have a great impact in my company is technological environment. Implementation of more advanced methods to serve my customers is likely to improve patients’ attendance and this will boost the compan.

Managing and Leading Change: EHR Selection
In the healthcare industry, it is essential to adapt and adjust to new ways of thinking to deliver the best outcomes for our patients. Like many industries, technology has made improvements in healthcare that have allowed for increased productivity, better care coordination, and better quality of care. Electronic health records (EHR) is one tool that can be used to help achieve all of those measures and can be an asset to the clinic moving forward into the future. With any change, proper steps must be taken to ensure optimal success is achieved with implementing the new process. A collaborative approach is necessary for exploring priorities, processes, and obstacles that will need to be addressed during implementation.
Part 1
The first step with implementing a new EHR system will be to establish two teams to help with planning and decision making. The first team that will be developed will be a clinician based team to give input on the clinical wants and needs from the EHR system. This team will consist of a physician, nurse practitioner, radiologist, pathologist, and pharmacists. These roles are chosen to represent the various departments that will be on the frontline of using the new EHR. Physicians and nurse practitioners provide patient care, and their input will be a valuable resource with ensuring that the system delivers quick and efficient ways to accomplish clinical tasks. The radiologist will represent the imaging department, and the pathologist will represent the laboratory department. Their input will ensure that the EHR provides functionality to improve workflow while allowing quick access to labs, pathology, imaging, and other clinical reports. The pharmacist will represent the pharmacy and will provide input on ways for the EHR to increase productivity and optimize medication delivery.
The next team that will be put together will consist of administrative staff that will include a medical biller/ coder, an office manager, an IT specialist, a patient account, and a patient service representative. The representative from billing and coding will help provide input on what is needed from the EHR to help improve workflow, reduce errors, and improve processes involving claims. The IT specialist will provide their expertise suggesting what equipment will need to be updated, security measures put in place, and network requirements for the project. As the office manager, there will be reports, tracking systems, and other managerial tools that will be desired options in the EHR. Finally, the representatives from account services and patient services will also provide input on scheduling, access to patient information, and desired options to improve productivity.

Scenario A specialty memory chip manufacturer is located in South.docxkenjordan97598
Scenario: A specialty memory chip manufacturer is located in Southern California with manufacturing plants located in the United States, Europe, Singapore, and Japan. Additionally, it has branch sales offices located in major metropolitan areas across the globe. The market for its six key products included original equipment manufacturers of personal computers, cellular telephone manufacturers, electronics distributors, and government organizations. The market environment for its products is extremely volatile with fluctuating demand and rapidly changing prices. The company uses short-term contracts (less than 1 month) and spot pricing for irregular customers. Internally, the operation is capital-intensive with depreciation running approximately $1.2 million per day (depreciation has an impact on revenue streams). The 6 key products had further specialized components, making the possible line mix total 24 distinct products. Further, the manufacturing process required high manufacturing lead times and various product yields. In the high technology memory arena, product life cycles were dramatically shortened because of rapid obsolescence. To coordinate the manufacturing activity, the company has an established process and system that helped optimize resource utilization, improve shop floor efficiencies, and manage customer demand.
The company is experiencing 10–15% growth in revenues and volume, primarily tied to increased worldwide demand, product type, and market variables. Most significantly, the company received a major preorder for a new cellular phone memory chip that is scheduled to come out in 3 months. This preorder is scaled for up to 10 million units, and management is concerned that the existing process and system may not be suitably optimized for this order. Additionally, the forecast in sales figures for all six key product lines is higher than it has been in the past. With the increase in volume, management is concerned about the quality management process as well—can the existing processes maintain the highest degree of quality needed?
As a new member of the production planning management staff, you will be expected to help develop strategies to support the expanded growth plans. Your team faces several fundamental issues. First, are the individual plant layouts conducive to the expanded growth expected by the company? Second, are individual plant layouts optimized for the most efficient performance and lowest cost? Third, is the existing supply chain interaction among all the various components optimized in the same manner individual layouts are expected to be optimized? Finally, your group must consider capacity planning and workflow to ensure the company can meet its contractual obligations with the maximum revenue and profitability. It currently uses information systems developed by the company to conduct production planning. You believe that a fully integrated enterprise resource planning tool or specific production plann.

Sharing information with competing health care facilities
Recognition by the American Hospital Association being a “Connected Hospital”
In Oct 2015, the U.S. News & World Report shared what the top 159 hospitals are that “have shown a commitment to use digital data in key aspects of patient care” (2015). Our organization happens to not be one of these. To remain competitive and to hold true to our mission statement of …”providing the best care to our patients…” the executive staff has decided to aggressively move towards using electronic medical records (EMR) in all that we do with our patient care.
Our facility is seven years behind in working towards the national goal of all medical records being electronic. The executive staff and facility board are well aware of the challenges we will face in making this transition, but they are confident with taking the correct steps in implementing an EMR system and training staff, this organization may soon find itself being one showing “commitment to their patients” on a national level.
A culture shirt in the way we use technology will need to occur as we embark on this change. The fear of sharing information needs to be subsided as sharing will actually strengthen our relationships with our patients vice pushing they away. This sharing will show how committed we are in ensuring that wherever they go to receive continued care that those medial staff will have access to their medical history and mitigate the chances of anything concerning their health being missed.
Through our efforts, our patients will soon see on a national level, the commitment we have as work ...

Chapter 4 Information Systems to Support Population Health Management Learning Objectives To be able to understand the data and information needs of health systems in managing population health effectively under value-based payment models. To be able to discuss key health IT tools and strategies for population health management including EHRs, registries, risk stratification, patient engagement, and outreach, care coordination and management, analytics, health information exchange, and telemedicine and telehealth. To be able to discuss the application and use of data analytics to monitor, predict, and improve performance. The enactment of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) brought about sweeping legislation intended to reduce the numbers of uninsured and make health care accessible to all Americans. It also ushered in an era in which changing reimbursement and care delivery models are driving providers from the current fragmented system focused on volume-based services to an outcomes orientation. As a result, the health care system now taking shape is one in which value-based payment models financially reward patient-centered, coordinated, accountable care. Against this backdrop, providers' increasing use of evidence-based medicine and growing capabilities in managing volumes of clinical evidence through sophisticated health IT systems will mean that treatments can be tailored for the individual and interventions can be made earlier to keep patients well. Furthermore, patient engagement is fast becoming a critical component in the care process, particularly in the area of population health management (PHM). Health care providers' interest in improving population health appears to be increasing because of the sudden ubiquity of the phrase, because many are participating in accountable care organizations (ACOs), and because even hospitals not participating in an ACO increasingly have incentives to reduce their number of potentially unavoidable admissions, readmissions, and emergency department visits (Casalino, Erb, Joshi, & Shortell, 2015). In this chapter we'll not only seek a common understanding of PHM but also explore how the advent of shared accountability financial arrangements between providers and purchasers of care has created significant focus on PHM. We'll also review the core processes associated with accountable care and examine the strategic IT investments and data management capabilities required to support population health management and enable a successful transition from volume-based to value-based care. PHM: Key to Success Although the ACO model is still new and evolving, approximately 750 ACOs are in operation today, covering some 23.5 million lives under Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers. Although not all ACOs have demonstrated success in delivering better health outcomes at a lower cost, many have achieved promising results (Houston & McGinnis, 2016). As such, significant ACO growth is expected. In fact, it is predicte ...

Organization’s Mission, Vision and Values
The New Generation General Hospital is a health care institution, which intends to be in the business of offering high quality health care services to the members of the public, in the state of California. The cost of health care in the recent years has been on the rise, making it unaffordable to many people. The main mission of this healthcare organization will be to make health care services accessible and affordable to all. In order to achieve this mission the hospital will put in place structures aimed at lowering the cost of operations, with an aim of ensuring that its services are charged prices that can be afforded by all groups of people, be either the rich or the poor. Comment by Microsoft account: Good. Decided on an appropriate health care organization for which to develop a strategic plan. If using a new organization, look ahead and be sure you can address all aspects of the project. You may need to identify data and information from a proxy (very similar) organization. If using an actual existing organization, the strategic plan should be based on a new product or new service within the organization. Then you’ll use the research and theories we are addressing in the course to make your recommendations. Okay?
Furthermore, quality health care is the key to success of any given country or region. For purposes of this organization contributing to the economic growth of the state of California its vision will be to provide high quality health services to all people from all walks of lives. The main areas of quality that the hospital will focus on will be patient safety, patient satisfaction and outcomes. More emphasis will be put on the organization quality assurance department so that it can put in place measures aimed at enhancing the quality of care offered to patients at any given time.
The main values of the hospital that will guide all the stakeholders, towards attaining its vision and mission will be, honesty, professionalism, kindness, privacy, trustworthiness and commitment. The values will be key when it comes to enhancing the quality and accessibility of the health services that will be offered by the organization to the target customers.
Strategic Planning Model
Given that this is a new health care organization, it will be using the conventional strategic planning model. This model will be suitable for the organization, given that it has adequate resources to pursue its long term goals of.

A
Mobile devices have become the de facto standard for communication. Almost all adults in first world countries use one or more mobile devices for work, entertainment, and communication. This means that there are many more devices on a given network and the Internet as a whole, further establishing the fact that there are many more opportunities for hackers to gain access to personal and private information. Mobile devices come with their own ways of protecting personal resources. Describe at least four different types of network security defenses that mobile operating systems provide in order to keep personal data safeguarded. Also, answer the question of who is ultimately responsible for securing personal data: the operating system vendor, or those who own the device hosting the operating system?
B
With mobile operating system attacks on the rise, it is going to be necessary to develop new solutions to mitigate cybersecurity threats. Most solutions that exist take on the form of pre-existing solutions that were meant to be used with desktop and server type operating systems. Thus, embedded operating systems are only just now starting to see their own utilities and solutions being born out of necessity. Describe some of the tools used to protect embedded operating system assets, and add your own personal opinion of how you feel embedded operating system security should be handled in the future.

by Amy Tan
I am not a scholar of English or literature. I cannot give you much more than personal
opinions on the English language and its variations in this country or others. I am a writer. And
by that definition, I am someone who has always loved language. I am fascinated by
language in daily life. I spend a great deal of my time thinking about the power of language—the
way it can evoke an emotion, a visual image, a complex idea, or a simple truth. Language is the
tool of my trade. And I use them all—all the Englishes I grew up with.
Recently, I was made keenly aware of the different Englishes I do use. I was giving a talk
to a large group of people, the same talk I had already given to half a dozen other groups. The
nature of the talk was about my writing, my life, and my book, The Joy Luck Club. The talk was
going along well enough, until I remembered one major difference that made the whole talk
sound wrong. My mother was in the room. And it was perhaps the first time she had heard me
give a lengthy speech, using the kind of English I have never used with her. I was saying things
like, “The intersection of memory upon imagination” and “There is an aspect of my fiction that
relates to thus-and-thus”—a speech filled with carefully wrought grammatical phrases, burdened,
it suddenly seemed to me, with nominalized forms, past perfect tenses, conditional phrases, all
the forms of standard English that I had learned in school and through books, the forms of
English I did not use at home with my mother.
Just last week, I was walking down the street with my mother, and I again found myself
conscious of the English I was using, the English I do use with her. We were talking about the
price of new and used furniture and I heard myself saying this: “Not waste money that way.” My
husband was with us as well, and he didn't notice any switch in my English. And then I realized
why. It’s because over the twenty years we’ve been together, I’ve often used that same kind of
English with him, and sometimes he even uses it with me. It has become our language of
intimacy, a different sort of English that relates to family talk, the language I grew up with.
So you'll have some idea of what this family talk I heard sounds like, I’ll quote what my
mother said during a recent conversation which I videotaped and then transcribed. During this
conversation, my mother was talking about a political gangster in Shanghai who had the same
last name as her family's, Du, and how the gangster in his early years wanted to be adopted by
her family, which was rich by comparison. Later, the gangster became more powerful, far richer.

“Okay, then, we’ll do it your way.” You do what you can to give that
employee exactly what he is asking for, only to find out later that he is
still ticked off. You are left wondering, “What is his problem? Isn’t he
ever satisfied?”
On the other hand, you may have had another experience as well. An
employee storms into your office, upset about a policy that, as far as she
is concerned, just isn’t working. You listen. She continues talking; you
continue to listen. In the back of your mind, though, you are thinking, “I
don’t know what we can do to fix that. It is what it is … nobody else has
complained.” She keeps talking and you keep listening. Finally she looks
at you with relief and says, “Thanks for listening. I feel better. I’ll talk to
you later.” You didn’t do anything, and somehow the situation is now
okay. You are left wondering what happened.

means that the conflict is dissolved. Did you get what you asked for?
If so, then you are happy. If you did not get what you wanted, then
you are not happy. In the first scenario, your expectation is that, when
you finally decide on a solution, the employee will be satisfied. In the
second scenario, you do not expect the employee to leave your office
satisfied unless you take some action that is acceptable to her. But the
reality is often more complex than that. Just as important—sometimes
more important—are the other two sides of the satisfaction triangle,
shown in Figure 3-1: process satisfaction and emotional satisfaction.
Understanding all three sides of the satisfaction triangle can provide
managers with a more extensive set of tools for resolving conflicts.

Abstract
Social insect colonies are high-value foraging targets for insectivores, prompting the
evolution of complex colony defensive adaptations as well as specialized foraging
tactics in social insect predators. Predatory ants that forage on other social insects
employ a diverse range of behaviors targeted at specific prey species. Here, we describe
a solitary foraging strategy of the ant Ectatomma tuberculatum, on nest guards of the
stingless bee Tetragonisca angustula. We observed multiple instances of
E. tuberculatum ambushing and successfully capturing the hovering and standing
guards of T. angustula near nest entrances. The unique hovering behavior of the guard
caste of this bee species, an adaptation to frequent cleptoparasitism by other stingless
bees, may make these guards particularly vulnerable to ground-based, ambush attacks
by E. tuberculatum. Likewise, the behavior of the foraging ants appears to adaptively
exploit the defensive formations and activity patterns of these bees. These observations
suggest an adaptive and targeted predatory strategy aimed at gathering external guard
bees as prey from these heavily fortified nests.

Introduction
Predatory foraging strategies can broadly be placed into two categories based on the
energy expended while looking for food: sit-and-wait versus active foraging (Schoener

solitarily or using mass recruitment to overcome either large or numerous prey
(Gotwald Jr 1995; Matsuura and Sakagami 1973; O'Donnell et al. 2005). However,
such group-foraging behaviors often preclude these species from successfully preying
upon a vigilant and well-defended target. Many social insects that rely on solitary
stealth maneuvers have evolved behavioral strategies for overcoming this challenge
(Matsuko 1984; Gronenberg 1996; Jackson and Pollard 1996; Murphy and Patek
2012). For example, Ectatomma ruidum are facultatively solitary foragers, enabling
the use of a prolonged stealth approach to capture food items from heavily defended
colonies of other social.

Be sure to read through all of the questions, completely, before beginning your research. You don’t want to have to keep going back to the same subject. However, you may have to do that to some degree – that is one of things about research. That is why it is critical to keep track of your source.
Please research the following questions/areas for your assigned city. BE SURE TO KEEP TRACK OF YOUR SOURCES. You will have to provide a list of references, and in-text citations, in submitted research. Every fact or piece of information you provide must have a citation and the full reference for that source included at the end in a reference list.
This set of research is the briefest one and should not take you too much time.
Be sure to check out the BUS 163 Library Guide on the left side of your Canvas screen and use the resources listed there to help you with your research.Income/Wages (50 points)
1. Try to find the average area salaries for:
a. Executives (this one will vary widely, and you may get a huge range. If so, just put in the range)
b. Software development engineers/software engineers
c. Accountants – you may find pay rates for a wide variety of accounting jobs. You might find information for some of these:
i. Accounts payable
ii. Accounts receivable
iii. Payroll specialists
iv. Controller
d. Human resource specialists (sometimes listed as HR managers)
e. Non-executive management positions (project managers, program managers, supervisors)
f. Administrative assistants
2. Area minimum wage (you may be surprised how low it is in some areas).
3. Overall prevailing wage – this may be hard to find. What it means is what the labor department and/or unions require to be paid. For instance, if you are doing construction work on a highway, your company has to pay you and your employees the “prevailing wage” for that work. In this area, people who pour concrete and do paving get $52/hour because that is the prevailing wage.
a. Try looking at several sources, but if you cannot find the information, just list where you looked and say you could not find it.
4. Find out the median income for your city/area.
5. Find out the average household size. It is good to check out the US Census Bureau site for this kind of information.
6. Look and see if you can find out if your city/area has required sick leave, like we do in Washington now. If so, what are the details?
7. What is the average home price in the area? What is the range of home prices?
Your information can just be bullet points for this.
Be sure to use AT LEAST three different sources. You might want to see what different information you get for any one category. If you get different information, please note that. A good practice is to look into the source for your source – where did THEY get this information. Also, check the dates and you will likely want to use the most recent informatio.

An 'American psychologist'
Robert V. Guthrie, one of the most influential and multifaceted African-American scholars of the century, wants to be remembered only as 'an American psychologist.' In an interview with the Monitor, he recollects the barriers he overcame to claim that title.
By EILEEN M. O'CONNOR
Monitor

November 2001, Vol 32, No. 10
In 1955, when Robert Guthrie, PhD, enrolled in a master's program at the University of Kentucky, he was a singular dark face against a backdrop of white.
"I remember one of my white professors eyeing me as if I were an anthropological specimen and remarking, 'You are from one of our Negro schools,'" Guthrie recalls.
His fellow white students didn't offer much support, either, he says, though he once attended a football game after a white student begged him. But when the band played "My Ol' Kentucky Home," a song that at the time included favorable portrayals of slavery, Guthrie knew he had to "get my education, then get the hell off campus."
Despite the discomfort and frustration he felt, however, Guthrie always knew he had a right to be there. That sense of confidence is what propelled him to pursue a degree in psychology when few blacks could, to go on to teach at the University of Pittsburgh, to study multicultural issues as a senior research psychologist in Washington, D.C., and to pen the now-classic tome, "Even the Rat Was White: A Historical View of Psychology."
Last spring, the National Archives of American Psychology honored Guthrie as the first African-American psychologist to deposit his papers there. Asking Guthrie to contribute was a natural choice for the archives because he has worn almost every one of psychology's hats, from research to teaching to government service, says director David Baker, PhD.
"We know almost nothing about the development of psychology at historically black colleges and universities, and only Bob Guthrie's work examines this in detail," Baker explains. "African Americans have much to be proud about their struggle against adversity, like the fact that in my lifetime they were not allowed to attend many grad schools simply because of their race. There are stories of inspiration, courage and strength, and also of anger, frustration and hurt."
First chapters
Guthrie and his twin brother were born in Chicago on Feb. 14, 1932. Weeks later, his father, a school principal, picked up the family and moved to Richmond, Ky., then to Lexington, Ky., towns in great need of teachers for African-American schools.
Growing up in the segregated South left an indelible mark on Guthrie's career outlook. "I did not think I would have an outstanding career," he says. "I was simply growing up in segregated Kentucky, and as at that time black colleges were training teachers to operate primarily in the Southern schools, I figured I might be a public school teacher. I did not know much about psychology. No one did."

Amazon is one of the world's most popular online retailers. The corporation provides its services on an online platform that enables many users in many parts of the world to have access to these services. Amazone company has undertaken massive investments in technology innovations. Amazone has a large base of customers who access the online service offered by the corporation. A large number of online users require that the company adopts the use of cloud computing and ERP systems in its operations.
Modern business organizations heavily rely on cloud computing technology in their operations. Cloud computing refers to the process of delivering computer services, which are on-demand from storage applications. Cloud computing happens both over the internet and also on a pay as you go basis. Companies in the modern world prefer not to have their computing infrastructure. They opt to rent access to anything from the use of applications to the storage capacity from a cloud service provider. It is costly for companies to own their cloud computing services. The Maintenace of the infrastructure is expensive too. Companies save operational expenses by renting the infrastructure.
Cloud computing enables companies to incur expenses of the only service they use, and they can pay for it only at the instance of use. The companies which engage in the provision of cloud computing services, in turn, make profits from the sale of the services to many users. (Yang et al, 2017). Cloud computing offers a wide range of services today. Through computer networking, companies can get storage space for their information and data. Cloud computing also enables networking and enhances processing power through the use of computer languages and artificial intelligence. Cloud computing also offers ideal office applications. The services do not require the users to be at the computer hardware physically. Individuals today make use of cloud computing technology.
Cloud is a term that could, in other words, mean the internet. The information stored in the cloud is information stored on the internet. There are three main models of cloud computing. The first model is the Infrastructure-as-a-service. This term refers to the units that build up the computer service that is possible to lend, such as the storage service, networking service, virtual, or even physical servers. The second model is Platform-as-a-service. The building blocks that makeup Cloud computing are in layers. The next layer up and the layer underlying is what is referred to as platform-as-a-service.
Amazon uses Enterprise resource technologies. Enterprise resource planning allows Amazon to integrate various business practices. ERP provides ideal solutions to various organizations. It will enable Amazon Corporation to optimize the use of resources with more significant innovation. Regardless of the size of the organization, ERP helps to reduce the waste of time. ERP heavily makes use of modern technology in enhan.

Wounded: Life
after the
Shooting
By
JOOYOUNG LEE
Most gunshot victims do not die. In some estimates, 80
percent live to see another day. Yet social scientists
continue to focus on gun homicide. What happens to
individuals who get shot and survive? How do they
experience life after the shooting? This article examines
how gunshot injuries transform the lives of victims. In
practical ways, gunshot injuries complicate sleeping,
eating, working, and other previously taken-for-granted
activities. These disruptions also have much larger exis
tential significance to victims. Indeed, daily experiences
with a wounded body become subjective reminders that
individuals are no longer who they used to be. Ironically,
in some interactions, being wounded becomes attrac
tive and advantageous to victims. Together, these
themes illustrate the need for more sustained ethno
graphic work on the foreground of violent crime vic
timization.

1 Assignment:Economic Environment
In 2018 I worked in a soft drinks company where they adopted the recent technology in the production to increase the production rates and the accuracy of the quality of the products. After the introduction of the technology in the company, a large number of people lost their jobs since the tech replaced the labour and was cheaper than the manual production that involved individuals directly. The technological factors are one of the external factors that are increasingly affecting the business organization. The business changes relate to the presence and the development of technology.
The technology increases the supply of the products. The increase in the supply enables the company to keep up with the demand for the soft drinks. The technology enables the company to increase the productivity and the communication between the suppliers and the consumers. The company can cut down the waste as well as keep up with the demands due to technological advancement. The technology also increased the accuracy in production due to the machinery that was more accurate than the human labour and the company was able to cut down the waste again. The company reduced its expenditure in terms of the losses incurred due to poor production.
It is important to consider the environment while thinking about the strategy change. The supply and demand within the business affect organizational ability. The demand and the supply stimulate each other impacting the prices of the goods and services in the budget. The customer's interest in specific products exhausts the supply available and increases demand. The demand and supply of goods and services have a high influence in determining the prices of goods and services. The prices of the product are likely to fall if the supply keeps on growing and if the supply keeps on decreasing the prices are likely to keep on growing (Becker, 2017). However, with the market economy, the interest consumers, as well as the companies, produce limits product that matches the demand and the supply and it is used in determining the product development and production.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Introduction
During my interview with Emma, the administration, lack of
transparency, and higher cost for services are identified in the
healthcare facility. I understood that the lack of transparency
and higher cost for services is due to a non-user-friendly
computer system used in billing. One of the billing specialists
confided in our phone conversation during my interview with
Emma.
In this paper, I intend to complete an interview with the
2. facility's information technology (IT) manager about their
system used in billing. I will outline the objectives of this
planning proposal, explain how the implementation of a new
billing system can affect patient care outcomes. Explain how
"change theory" and leadership strategy can help in
interdisciplinary collaboration in the proposal plan. I will also
discuss the interdisciplinary collaboration plan and the
resources needed in implementing the proposed
plan.Interdisciplinary Plan Proposal
During an interview with Mr. Warren, the information
technologist who leads the head of the IT department revealed
that the hospital has difficulty integrating a more transparent
billing system. A transparent billing system implementation has
been complex due to a lack of financial resources and personnel
reluctance. This is partly due to employees' lack of awareness
of the benefits and importance of transparent and more
integrating systems, their lack of understanding of how to use
them, and their lack of familiarity with computer programs. By
expediting the delivery process, the effective use of healthcare
informatics, such as electronic billing systems, can improve the
quality and provide a convenient payment experience for
patients (Tanwar et al., 2020).
ObjectiveWe intend to promote healthcare IT adoption, mainly
using an E-billing system, resulting from the proposal's
multidisciplinary approach, to serve patients better. Other
objectives of the strategy include improving healthcare
efficiency and lowering costs, increasing interdisciplinary
collaboration, reducing employee workload, and ensuring
patient privacy and data security. Attaining these objectives will
be critical in assisting the organization in solving specific
healthcare difficulties that may impact patient care.Questions
and Predictions
1. How will the quality and safety of patient care at Dignity
Healthcare improve now that the E-billing system is in place?
E-billing system will improve communication and relationships
between healthcare providers, patients, and their families. It
3. will allow patients to better manage their medical bills through
patient portals and personal health records, reduce billing
errors, and be more transparent with the prices (Borkowski &
Meese, 2020). The E-billing system will help healthcare
practitioners enhance their workflows by minimizing their time
looking for errors in billing. It makes it easier for them to care
for many patients by providing transparent and accurate patient
bills.
2. Will the multidisciplinary approach make a significant impact
on the healthcare crisis?
The plan's purpose is to make the healthcare billing system as
efficient and straightforward as feasible. The team will use an
interdisciplinary approach to ensure all key stakeholders
understand why and how the system should be deployed. The
plan proposal will benefit everyone, from patients and
employees to the entire corporation.
3. Is it possible to guarantee collaboration with the
implementation of interdisciplinary plans successfully?
The efficacy of the E-billing system depends on
interdisciplinary teamwork. With a successful implementation
of the plan, there will be an increase in collaboration among the
organization's healthcare providers. The collaboration will be
accomplished by coordinating patient care on an informed basis
at any time and place, providing accurate patient files to allow
collaborative clinical decision-making based on shared data,
and improving workflow to further the cause.
Change Theories and Leadership Strategies
When it comes to the deployment of health information
technology, poor leadership is a crucial concern—Lewin's
paradigm. According to the theory, leaders can utilize a
structured approach to help them understand the causes for
change, navigate the change process, and achieve their
objectives. It is also a good model for studying adaptation and
finding the forces that are either driving or hindering it, as
Lewin calls it. Driving forces elicit change, and these forces
assist an organization in achieving its objectives. Resistance
4. forces act against people who want to change things and make it
more challenging to do so. Change can occur only when driving
forces surpass restraining forces or when restraining forces
outweigh driving forces (Borkowski & Meese, 2020).
Unfreezing entails supporting facility’s employees in letting go
of old behavior habits and overcoming opposition and group
conformity. This might be a challenging procedure. Information
may be generated through brainstorming and cooperation
meetings involving the entire team. In other to get to the
unfreezing stage, the facility’s management will train their
employees on the importance of using an E-billing system to
provide transparent and accurate pricing. Educating staff about
why they should change helps increase the driving factors and
eases the transition to the second phase, change/moving. At this
point, possible motivators include the belief that the electronic
system will make it easier to access correct and complete
patient data, the desire to improve price documentation
procedures, previous experience with computer applications,
financial resources, and proper training.
Efforts are made to increase the driving force or lessen the
constraint during the moving phase. People must be made aware
of how their activities will benefit the company to achieve the
desired state. Individuals are more inclined to support changes
and participate actively in change activities when they know the
benefits of the common condition, which helps propel the shift
forward and make it happen. By partnering with workers today,
informaticists may assist them in grasping the benefits of the E-
billing system. Some employees will likely develop negative
attitudes and feelings regarding the actual change process once
it is implemented. If this is the case, the unfreezing technique
may be used.
The unfreezing phase begins when the equilibrium state is
reached. As a result, the organization's standard operating
procedures and practices are revised to reflect the changing
circumstances. In other to prevent staff from revert to their
previous state, the transformation must be maintained and
5. reevaluated regularly. Support strategies such as rewards,
policies, champion leadership, and education are just a few
examples. It should be examined continuously to see if the new
system meets professional, personal, and organizational goals or
if any further changes are needed to advance the system.
Then aligning efforts toward the desired, new level of behavior,
ultimately executives of a healthcare business have a big say in
whether their employees are willing to change. According to
Kurt Lewin's theory, organizational transformation should not
be complex. Unfreezing-change Refreezing is a simple concept
that can better understand how organizations evolve through
time (Borkowski & Meese, 2020). He believes that change
begins with recognizing that something needs to be changed,
establishing this new state as usual. To overcome it,
organizational leaders must replace their long-held knowledge
with further information.
Team collaboration strategy
The success of the interdisciplinary strategy depends on the
cooperation of the team's members from many disciplines. A
roll-out manager for an E-billing system will spell out
requirements and stick to deadlines. In addition, he will ensure
that the project's various stages communicate and work together
flawlessly. The project manager oversees all parts of planning,
design, development, implementation, and testing.
The billing manager will design a new billing system that
processes claims correctly and rapidly using the E-billing
system. The billing department can provide insight into the
general efficiency and correctness of the system when it comes
to processing claims.
Nurse leaders in other departments will use this E-billing
system to facilitate communication between themselves and
healthcare practitioners in other organizations. This individual
oversees defining the system's software and hardware
requirements and organizing services to achieve those
requirements.
The interdisciplinary group's collaboration strategy will include
6. defining roles and responsibilities for each team member. If the
plan is to be implemented successfully, each team member must
understand their roles and commit to achieving them (Morley &
Cashell, 2017). When team members understand what is
expected of them, they may work together and communicate
more effectively—these aids in reducing conflicts and
promoting team cohesion.
Delegation will be another technique of collaboration. Project
managers can use panels and anybody else to delegate tasks and
responsibilities to other team members (Morley & Cashell,
2017). As a result, team operations will run smoothly and
efficiently, allowing everyone to focus on their areas of
expertise. The delegation also encourages collaboration, making
it easier to meet set goals.
Organizational resources required
The plan's successful implementation necessitates sufficient
financial and human resources. More personnel are needed to
keep the system working smoothly. The facility will spend
$120,000 per year on medical assistants, two additional IT
specialists, and one administrative staff. The project manager
will work half-time for three months and be paid $31,000 to
save money. The training is projected to cost $5,600 per day. In
other to help maintain the system, a $45,500 annual budget will
be required. Vendor fees for software, interfaces, and training
total will be about $60,700. The entire cost of the database
server, desktop computers, and printers will be roughly $6000.
Suppose the approach is not implemented or fails. The
implementation of the strategy will be funded with a total of
$350,000. If the approach is not executed or fails along the way,
more outstanding legal fees from medical errors, duplication of
procedures such as laboratory testing, and higher employee
turnover due to dissatisfaction with time-consuming manual
processes would ensue.
In conclusion, affordable and a more transparent healthcare cost
is essential for a better patient outcome which will prevent harm
to patients, prevent legal repercussions due to errors in billing.
7. Implementing a more user-friendly billing system will ensure
patients are charged correctly for services provided, will
improve employee performance and a more productive workday.

Interview Summary
A healthcare administrator by the name of Emma Geoffrey
assisted me in conducting an interview that focused on the
current challenges that healthcare businesses are experiencing.
The interview was done over the phone to fit COVID-19's
existing condition, with the evaluation's questions acting as a
guide. In addition to her other responsibilities, she is
responsible for the overall management of the medical services
offered by the hospital, which includes evaluating patient
records and executing quality control procedures for the many
healthcare institutions throughout the city. Emma has almost a
decade of experience in the medical industry.
Emma, the administrator, stated, among other things, that the
current problems they are working with involve prices and
transparency among health institutions. During the discussion, it
became clear that the costs of pharmaceuticals and medical
services were too costly, and as a result, many patients were
unable to get comprehensive medical care. Many healthcare
organizations lack transparency, which means that patients do
not know the fee; they will have to pay medical bills until a few
days after they have recovered, at which point they are shocked
by the high cost. "Price transparency is essential in healthcare
organizations," Emma stated, explaining that doing so enables
23. patients to gain prior knowledge about the quality of medical
care they will receive, as well as to choose the most practical
medical help accessible that is compliant with their finances.
While she voiced worries about the hospital's financial
situation, she also reported that all of the hospital's
administrators expressed the same concerns as she did.
Issue Identification
As a result of this analysis, it has been determined that hospitals
must integrate cooperation as a whole to save costs and increase
transparency. Everyone needs to be involved for improvements
to occur. Although theory for change seems to be impractical
for immediate treatment, it has been shown that it offers a
foundation for treating healthcare cost problems.Change
Theories That Could Lead to an Interdisciplinary
Solution
Lewin's change theory was used as the operational framework to
revolutionize the routine of the multidisciplinary team in the
field of pain treatment. The model for change includes a
comprehensive educational approach being deployed in phases
to foster transformational staff behavior (Newell, 2001).
Employees and leaders exchange information in this method,
with employees providing the majority of knowledge. This
might be achieved via a flow of information between leadership,
frontline staff, and management. These leaders interact with
their employees, share their expertise and allow people to
participate in company-level decision-making. Because this
24. model emphasizes the engagement of the entire organization, I
believe it is appropriate in this particular situation to utilize.
When establishing a plan, it is more beneficial to include a
broader range of perspectives than just a tiny proportion of the
team's opinions.
Leadership Strategies That Could Lead to an Interdisciplinary
