The intelligent gateway for Internet of Things (IoT) is based on the principle of pushing as much computing to the edge as possible, removing the need to ship massive data to the cloud. Instead, essential data analytics, transformation, and routing occur at the gateway, triggering business rules that automate machine operations as well as back-end processes. In this presentation, Eurotech will present a reference architecture for IoT systems and some typical use cases.

IoT the driver of Business Innovation: better products, new services and...Eurotech
The IoT is the manifestation that the raw material of the information age is data. Data is the new source of innovation and the lever to achieve business sustainability. By extracting data from assets and products, companies can become more efficient through a strategic rethinking of their value chains and business processes. In so doing, companies will add the required readiness to shift from products to services, and eventually enter in the outcome economy. To truly embrace the digital transformation, organizations need to collect actionable data from their assets, processes, and products and then connect the OT world where data are generated to IT world where data are consumed. To make this happen, a IoT integration platform, that gives to the App an easy and versatile access to the data, is required . As a matter of fact the IoT essence resides in an impressive simplification of the OT-IT integration through a loosely coupled containerized layered (LC2L) architecture. The benefits are huge: the transformation of any business into a smart business, increasing competitiveness also in mature markets; the creation of new innovative products and services; and the enablement of service prosumerization. Abundance of data is the real essence of IoT, where the App is the tip of the data iceberg.
The current landscape of Internet of Things (IoT) applications is extremely fragmented because we are still experimenting to discover the correct mix for our respective markets. Unfortunately in the IoT world, one solution does not fit all.We need much more clarity in understanding the challenges of IoT application development, both in terms of technical feasibility as well as business opportunities. In our talk we present a toolkit approach towards accelerating IoT applications by leveraging modular components that can effectively accelerate go to market for end solutions.

Internet of Things is a hot topic today. Many companies are trying to create new business applications on a concept of IoT such as smart city, connected vehicle or smart grid. The platform for IoT applications has some unprecedented characteristics: (1) needs to accept huge number of connections simultaneously (2) needs to be highly reliable and secure (3) needs to be highly scalable.
We have designed, prototyped and evaluated a highly reliable IoT platform for collecting and storing large-scale data.
We explained our use case and architecture of IoT platform. We are tackling the following very high requirements during the process of prototyping and evaluating the platform.
• Receiving and storing messages from over 10M clients concurrently
• Highly reliable architecture of message broking without losing messages
• Instant scale-out to process burst traffic rapidly
We also discussed how we can adopt OpenStack to IoT backend and share ideas for its enhancement.

State of the market for IoT/IIoT and the cloud: What are the emerging opportunities for using interconnected devices and the cloud to provide enterprises with operational efficiencies and more effective mobility?
Industry 4.0 has widespread application across Industries (Manufacturing, Logistics, Mobility etc.). In case of manufacturing and processing industries Industry 4.0 means Smart Manufacturing using IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things or simply Industrial IoT) in a connected smart factory.
It enables an Organization to make smart data-driven decisions based on Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Industry 4.0 IIoT has several benefits such as Resource Optimization, Cost Reduction, Automation, Predictive Maintenance and Prescriptive Analytics and Control etc.
Why IIoT Gateway is Critical for Smart Manufacturing?Infyiot Solutions
Smart manufacturing, also known as Industry 4.0, has been transforming the manufacturing industry with the integration of cutting-edge technologies like the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML). IIoT is a network of interconnected devices, sensors, and machines that communicate with each other to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and quality control in manufacturing. However, the integration of IIoT devices into the existing manufacturing infrastructure can be challenging. This is where the IIoT Gateway comes into play.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
