keeps your body from drying out under
sunlight. Also protects you against
dirt, bacteria, or viruses. The sensory response
lets us feel things and tell the difference
between textures. Skin also helps regulate
your body temperature. It also produces
vitamin D. Skin eliminates waste from your
cells, too.
3. The Epidermis- the
outermost layer of
skin, the only layer with
direct interaction with
outside environments.
The Melanin- the pigment
that protects the body.
The Dermis- a thick layer of
skin that gives skin
strength, nourishment, and
flexibility.
Fatty Layer- innermost
layer of skin. No direct
interaction with outside
environments.

system works with the
Circulatory system to
cool down your body
when it becomes over
heated.
• It also works with the
immune system to
protect against
invaders.

• It protects the body from outside substances.
6. • Bruises- blood vessels in
the skin are broken, but
the skin isn’t cut open.
• Cuts- when you break
one or more layers of
skin.
• Burns- when your skin is
injured by contact with
hot water, hot food, or a
hot surface. The are 1st
degree burns, 2nd degree
burns, and 3rd degree
burns.
