Scalable NDT Instruments for the Inspection of Variable Geometry ComponentsOlympus IMS
For the past several years, the aviation industry has seen above normal growth due, in part, to lower oil prices, saving major aircraft operators millions of dollars. As a result of this outstanding growth, production rates for new airplanes have increased and new aircraft programs are being launched. Consequently, aviation component manufacturers are facing new challenges including a rise in production rates, a high probability of detection (POD) due to the critical nature of the parts being manufactured, lack of skilled operators, and parts with increasingly complex geometry.
Ultrasonic phased array (PA) instruments have evolved, enabling an increase in inspection speeds and the implementation of advanced acquisition strategies. The introduction of scalable instruments and advanced acquisition strategies helps manufacturers address the inspection challenges they are facing. Scalability can now be used for nondestructive testing (NDT), enabling system integrators and manufacturers to improve the performance of their solutions by using multiple instruments in parallel. The evolution of electronic components enables advanced acquisition strategies, such as adaptive ultrasound, to be implemented. Adaptive ultrasound simplifies the inspection of complex components and improves the POD by using innovative signal-processing algorithms.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity serverAntonios Katsarakis
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...Alex Pruden
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

7. Our History
Founded in Detroit in 1941 as X-Ray Incorporated, the company first provided in-
house radiographic, magnetic particle and liquid penetrant nondestructive inspection
services primarily to the U. S. Army Air Corps—the precursor to today’s U.S. Air Force.
As a founding member of the fledgling aerospace industry, the company was heavily
involved with a number of World War II programs including the historic B-24 bomber
produced at Ford Motor Company’s Willow Run Plant, the F4U-G Corsair fighter and
the Pratt Whitney R2800 radial engines they used. X-Ray Incorporated also performed
inspections for the Army and Navy on various components for the Garand rifle,
Sherman tank, PT boats and other craft.
In the 1950’s and 60’s, the company grew and added NDT laboratories across the
country in Florida, Indiana, Connecticut, Michigan and Ohio. The aerospace connection
continued with inspection work for Pratt Whitney as they developed their jet engine
technology.
8. Test Equipment Distributors (TED), now a premier supplier of nondestructive testing
equipment and supplies to industry, was founded in 1971. Both TED and the X-R-I
Testing Division grew through internal growth as well as a number of strategic
acquisitions in the 1980’s and 90’s. Tronix, a successful NDT supply company in the
southeast was acquired in 2001. With the purchase of the NDT supply business of
Universal NDT in California in 2007, TED is now the only truly national player in the
NDT supply segment.
Part of our Technologies Group, Composite Inspection Solutions (CIS) is our composite
inspection arm of X-Ray Industries. The focus is on co-located capability with
composite manufacturers. With a further need to inspect composite aerospace
structures, X-Ray Industries acquired Arcadia Aerospace in 2011. This addition to our
family of companies gives us the strength to solve even the most complex inspection
needs for the composite materials arena.
