No recent volcanoes have erupted in
CA. The last volcano erupted on May
22, 1915
I think 3 for volcanos because they are a few
volcanos in California but they are either extinct
or dormant. There is a chance of them irrupting
but it is very low. California is right by the north
American plate boundary so it is possible to irrupt
but the chances are few.
I think 10 for earthquakes because there are quite a
few earthquakes everyday, every week, ever month,
and every year. There are two different types of
earthquakes ones that effect you and ones you cant
even feel. California is right by the north American
plate boundary. Witch means that there are a lot of
plate shifting going on that could release at any time.
 I would say no to insure building in California because it
is right by the tectonic plates. Witch means that there are
daily earthquakes. If an earthquake is bad enough it
could take down lots of houses and buildings. We would
have to pay a lot of money for all these houses to be
rebuilt. Since there is not a lot of active volcanos so it
wouldn’t be as dangerous to live by a volcano. But one
wrong shift in the tectonic plates the whole volcano
could erupt. The best thing for us to do is to not insure
California so that we don’t have to pay for any natural
disasters.
 California’s San Andreas Fault is a transform boundary
which is the reason for most earthquakes and volcanos.
The two plates surrounding California are the North
American Plate and the Pacific Plate.

Volcano:
I think 5 because there are quite a few volcanos in Chile and
they haven't erupted in a while. The last eruption was in 2012 so
I think a volcano could irrupted any minute but maybe not a lot
of magnitude. Most volcanos in Chile are around the convergent
boundary. There has been a lot of volcanic eruption in the past
100-150 years. Since they are on the tectonic plate boundary
the plate could move in one wrong direction and a volcano
could get angry.
Earthquake: I think 8 because there is a lot
of earthquakes and a lot of them are huge. I
think earthquakes could happen any time in
the future because Chile is located on a
convergent tectonic plate boundary.
I would not insure Chile because there is/has been a lot of
earthquakes and volcanos there. So I wouldn’t want to pay
for insurance for people who live near the convergent
boundary. I would feel better id I didn’t have to insure Chile
so then i can save my money for other places, Chile hasn’t
had a lot of earthquakes or volcanos in the last very days and
weeks but they could happen in any time.
The type of boundary around chile is called a convergent boundary
(continental vs oceanic plate). The Nazca plate and the south
American surrounded Chile

Volcanos: I absolutely think 10 because there are over 200
volcanos in Japan and most of them are active. i think it is very
dangerous to live in japan because there is a very big chance of
something happening around you. Japan is an volcanic island
which means there are a lot of volcanic rocks on the island. The
last volcanic eruption in Japan was in 2013 from the volcano
called Sakurajima (or Sakura Island). It was a huge explosion!
The volcano is located across Kagoshima Bay only 8 km east of
the city of Kagoshima with a population of half a million. It
destroys many houses and buildings. This volcano has been
erupting since the 8th century so I think it cold et worse and
cause more earthquakes and those earthquakes could form new
volcanoes.
Earthquakes: I think 5 because there aren’t many
earthquakes but a big on could happen any time.
There is a lot of volcanos in japan which could
cause earthquakes. I don’t think japan is safe.
I would decently not insure japan because there are too many volcanos
and tsunamis that are active and could destroy many building and cause
danger to lots of people . Japan lies on a convergent boundary so a lot
of earthquakes and volcanos could happen. I wouldn’t want to live in
japan because t is not very safe.
Japan is on a convergent plate boundary which
is when an oceanic meets an oceanic plate and
one is denser so it slides under the other part
of the ocean. Pacific plate, North American
plate, Philippine plate, and the Eurasian plate
surround Japan.

I think 2 because only one or two volcanoes are active
including Erta Ale that recently erupted . It has been constantly erupting
since 1967 and it will probably keep erupting until it has had enough.
Erta Ale is the worst volcano in Ethiopia and it is also the only one that
has erupted in a while. Ethiopia is one of the safer places to live except
that one volcanos.
I think Ethiopia will continue having earthquakes just like
now because it is near the edge of the African tectonic plate boundary so I
don’t think the earthquakes will completely stop. I think 2 because there
aren’t a lot of earthquakes in Ethiopia. Most of them are above 5.0 M but
they don’t destroy much. There aren’t much earthquakes at all every year.
This year there has only been one.
There might be something to fix once in a while but I think it will be good. There aren’t much
houses near volcanoes so it would be safer than most places if a volcano erupts. Earthquakes
don’t happen often because the edge of the African plate does not run right through Ethiopia so
when the plate moves Ethiopia isn’t disturbed much. I would insure in Ethiopia because it
doesn’t have much volcanoes and earthquakes and even if it does have one once and a while
they aren’t very big. There aren’t much houses near volcanoes so it would be safer than most
places if a volcano erupts. Earthquakes don’t happen often because the edge of the African
plate does not run right through Ethiopia so when the plate moves Ethiopia isn’t disturbed
much. I think it will be okay if I insure in Ethiopia.
Out of the four countries that you have given us to research on I
would insure 1 of them. We have agreed to insure:
• Ethiopia: There is not a lot of earthquakes.
• And the percentage is low for more earthquakes or volcanos.
They other 3 countries are too risky to insure.
I thought this project was challenging but fun to find out more
information about these four countries. At sometimes I was very
confused. I was stuck, but I had to show perservierents to keep
going and not give up.

  • 7. I think 3 for volcanos because they are a few volcanos in California but they are either extinct or dormant. There is a chance of them irrupting but it is very low. California is right by the north American plate boundary so it is possible to irrupt but the chances are few. I think 10 for earthquakes because there are quite a few earthquakes everyday, every week, ever month, and every year. There are two different types of earthquakes ones that effect you and ones you cant even feel. California is right by the north American plate boundary. Witch means that there are a lot of plate shifting going on that could release at any time.
  • 8.  I would say no to insure building in California because it is right by the tectonic plates. Witch means that there are daily earthquakes. If an earthquake is bad enough it could take down lots of houses and buildings. We would have to pay a lot of money for all these houses to be rebuilt. Since there is not a lot of active volcanos so it wouldn’t be as dangerous to live by a volcano. But one wrong shift in the tectonic plates the whole volcano could erupt. The best thing for us to do is to not insure California so that we don’t have to pay for any natural disasters.  California’s San Andreas Fault is a transform boundary which is the reason for most earthquakes and volcanos. The two plates surrounding California are the North American Plate and the Pacific Plate.

  • 13. Volcano: I think 5 because there are quite a few volcanos in Chile and they haven't erupted in a while. The last eruption was in 2012 so I think a volcano could irrupted any minute but maybe not a lot of magnitude. Most volcanos in Chile are around the convergent boundary. There has been a lot of volcanic eruption in the past 100-150 years. Since they are on the tectonic plate boundary the plate could move in one wrong direction and a volcano could get angry. Earthquake: I think 8 because there is a lot of earthquakes and a lot of them are huge. I think earthquakes could happen any time in the future because Chile is located on a convergent tectonic plate boundary.
  • 14. I would not insure Chile because there is/has been a lot of earthquakes and volcanos there. So I wouldn’t want to pay for insurance for people who live near the convergent boundary. I would feel better id I didn’t have to insure Chile so then i can save my money for other places, Chile hasn’t had a lot of earthquakes or volcanos in the last very days and weeks but they could happen in any time. The type of boundary around chile is called a convergent boundary (continental vs oceanic plate). The Nazca plate and the south American surrounded Chile

  • 19. Volcanos: I absolutely think 10 because there are over 200 volcanos in Japan and most of them are active. i think it is very dangerous to live in japan because there is a very big chance of something happening around you. Japan is an volcanic island which means there are a lot of volcanic rocks on the island. The last volcanic eruption in Japan was in 2013 from the volcano called Sakurajima (or Sakura Island). It was a huge explosion! The volcano is located across Kagoshima Bay only 8 km east of the city of Kagoshima with a population of half a million. It destroys many houses and buildings. This volcano has been erupting since the 8th century so I think it cold et worse and cause more earthquakes and those earthquakes could form new volcanoes. Earthquakes: I think 5 because there aren’t many earthquakes but a big on could happen any time. There is a lot of volcanos in japan which could cause earthquakes. I don’t think japan is safe.
  • 20. I would decently not insure japan because there are too many volcanos and tsunamis that are active and could destroy many building and cause danger to lots of people . Japan lies on a convergent boundary so a lot of earthquakes and volcanos could happen. I wouldn’t want to live in japan because t is not very safe. Japan is on a convergent plate boundary which is when an oceanic meets an oceanic plate and one is denser so it slides under the other part of the ocean. Pacific plate, North American plate, Philippine plate, and the Eurasian plate surround Japan.

  • 25. I think 2 because only one or two volcanoes are active including Erta Ale that recently erupted . It has been constantly erupting since 1967 and it will probably keep erupting until it has had enough. Erta Ale is the worst volcano in Ethiopia and it is also the only one that has erupted in a while. Ethiopia is one of the safer places to live except that one volcanos. I think Ethiopia will continue having earthquakes just like now because it is near the edge of the African tectonic plate boundary so I don’t think the earthquakes will completely stop. I think 2 because there aren’t a lot of earthquakes in Ethiopia. Most of them are above 5.0 M but they don’t destroy much. There aren’t much earthquakes at all every year. This year there has only been one.

Earthquakes don’t happen often because the edge of the African plate does not run right through Ethiopia so when the plate moves Ethiopia isn’t disturbed much. I would insure in Ethiopia because it doesn’t have much volcanoes and earthquakes and even if it does have one once and a while they aren’t very big. There aren’t much houses near volcanoes so it would be safer than most places if a volcano erupts. Earthquakes don’t happen often because the edge of the African plate does not run right through Ethiopia so when the plate moves Ethiopia isn’t disturbed much. I think it will be okay if I insure in Ethiopia.

We have agreed to insure: • Ethiopia: There is not a lot of earthquakes. • And the percentage is low for more earthquakes or volcanos. They other 3 countries are too risky to insure. I thought this project was challenging but fun to find out more information about these four countries. At sometimes I was very confused. I was stuck, but I had to show perservierents to keep going and not give up.
