This document outlines instructions for a service-learning assignment in an Africana Studies course. Students are asked to volunteer for at least 3 hours at an organization with a mission related to justice, diversity, or social equity. They then write a summary paper reflecting on how the volunteer experience related to key concepts in Africana Studies like social concerns, ethics of sharing, and connecting campus to community. For honors credit, students analyze how their chosen career field could address larger goals like community development or societal injustices.
