It's a conversation on merging proven models and philosophies with common sense to better allow the best of us to do our best work.
Leadership and Management of Innovation (Eric James)Eric James
The leadership and management that supports and enables innovation can be a significant challenge. Being a truly effective leader involves a series of steps that are captured here in the INSPIRE framework. This involves working from the "inside out" (i.e., innovative leaders know that excellence starts with themselves), knowing the context, being able to effectively strategize, preparation, generating and integrating good ideas, re-examining the approach and executing plans effectively.
The document discusses the need for organizations and individuals to adapt to constant disruption and change. Some key points:
- To adapt, one must embrace disruption, improve leadership skills, think with an "ecosystem mindset", exchange ideas quickly, and adapt.
- If organizations don't change how they approach customers' needs, they will become irrelevant.
- The future of work involves more networked, collaborative environments like co-working spaces, with AI replacing some traditional jobs.
- Individuals now have more control over their learning and work, which occurs across networks rather than traditional structures. Leadership requires facilitating this kind of ecosystem.
The document discusses the need to "dissolve the boxes" in our thinking to achieve structural change and lead effectively in today's dynamic world. It argues that thinking "out of the box" is not enough, and that we must go further to dissolve the boxes altogether. This allows for deeper change by overcoming limiting thought patterns and repositioning ourselves. The document provides examples of how dissolving boxes can benefit individuals and organizations by increasing intelligence, leadership, well-being and organizational culture. It introduces the UQ Matrix as a tool to help dissolve boxes and reposition thinking for better decision-making.

Committed to Growth White Paper BusinessTracey Ezard
This document discusses how to build collaboration and learning intelligence within an organization. It outlines three key pillars for organizational transformation: mindset, environment, and dialogue. It also presents a model with six stages of an organization's ability to create collaboration and growth, from corrosion to committed collaboration. Leaders are encouraged to assess where their organization currently falls on this spectrum and focus on strengthening the foundations of the three pillars to drive momentum and shift towards committed collaboration.
This presentation was provided by Steph Pollock of The American Psychological Association’s Journals Program, and Damita Snow, of The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), for the initial session of NISO's 2024 Training Series "DEIA in the Scholarly Landscape." Session One: 'Setting Expectations: a DEIA Primer,' was held June 6, 2024.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. Inspiration is something that keeps us striving for what we
want to give to society by contributing the best we can do at
the moment with what we have.
3. Inspiration facilitates progress toward goals. Inspiration
increases well-being.
• Our competitive global economy requires leaders to shift their
focus from efficient management to effective utilization of a
company’s diversity of resources.
• 1. Using strategic vision to motivate and inspire
• 2. Empowering employees at all levels
• 3. Accumulating and sharing internal knowledge
• 4. Gathering and integrating external information
• 5. Challenging the status quo and enabling creativity
5. Storm Warnings!
Every single person on the planet has a story.
Don’t judge people before you truly know
them.
The truth might surprise you. Failure is part
of learning; we should never give up the
struggle in life.
8. Ideas That Change Life
Innovation is really about responding to change in a
creative way. It’s about generating new ideas,
conducting R&D, improving processes or revamping
products and services.
At another level, it’s also about a mindset in your
business: One where your staff, whether in the
executive offices or on the shop floor, are always
focused on continuous improvement and constantly
thinking outside of the box.
9.
10. Ideas for Thoughts
Let us become better humans by accepting the
change world today needs, let’s embrace the
simplicity of new innovations. Greatest minds are
those who can think and visualize a world where
ideas are free flowing and the reach of kindness
is all over.
13. To Combine As Whole
Integration is the act of bringing together smaller
components into a single system that functions as one.
If we spend more time on the chaotic bank of the river,
then we are probably more scattered, overly sensitive,
easily overwhelmed and more easily re-stimulated.
Living in either extreme is problematic and challenging.
14. Solution to Living
The extreme is awareness and acceptance
followed by integration. We begin with awareness
of aspects of ourselves that are not integrated,
and only after we accept these aspects, or parts,
or behaviors can we integrate them.
