Content Analysis : „Even Past Fifty‟ is about a woman who faces the hardships of life with a smiling face and a cheerful
heart. It is a simple poem, but it draws the portrait of a miserable yet bold woman and thereby inspires many others to be.

 Do women have more hands?
Why do they have to work so hard always?
Have you seen the film “ Veruthe Oru Bharya?”
What did you understand from the film?

 Can you tell me the services rendered by your mother to the
family?
Then students are shown the picture of the poet and a chart containing her profile.
Learners are motivated
Today’s Special..
Singing Time…
The teacher recites the poem once with proper stress, gestures, voice modulation,
etc. After reciting the poem the learners are asked to recite the poem individually
and refer the glossary for familiarizing the difficult words.
Learner listens with interest
Learner listens carefully and recites
actively.
Let’s enjoy a new poem…“Even Past Fifty”
written by Shantha Shelke.
It is a poem about a woman who
faces the hardships of life with a smiling face
and a cheerful heart. The poem draws the

Follow-up Activity
Write a paragraph on the topic “Fate of women.”
Fun Time…
Teacher divides the class into groups and asks the learners to frame as many
questions as possible and conducts a quiz competition by providing points.
Then the learners are asked to sing the poem together with their
group members.
Learner discusses in groups and frames
questions.
