Initial Plans
William Young
Initial Reaction
• I’m good at writing review-articles about specific
topics
• I could make a double-page-spread preparing
readers for a large article about a game I really
like (such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate), and
then possibly write that article
• Magazine cover could consist of a picture of
Smash Bros. Ultimate
• Other things I could do are a contents page,
advertisements, and predictions for the winners
of The Game Awards 2018

Mood Board
Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
Every image on my mood board has something to do with video games. They’re
either a picture taken in a game, a promotional picture of a game, or someone
heavily involved in the video game industry. Most of the pictures in my mood
board incorporate one of the three primary colours (red, yellow and blue) into
them. Almost none of the images have any text on them, apart from the logo for
the game ‘Sonic Colours’ in the Sonic picture. Most of the pictures in my mood
board tend to either have a very happy-go-lucky feel, or a down-to-earth serious
feel, with almost no in-between.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
The mood board will influence my final product by my magazine having a lot to do
with video games (specifically, the video games featured on my mood board). The
magazine may also feature tributes to older games that were released 5, 10, 15,
20 or even 25 years ago, in the same month that this magazine is made
(November-December)
Schedule
WEEK OVERALL PLAN SPECIFIC TASKS
1 Research, Initial
Response, Audience
Research
 Research into different types of magazines,
such as gaming, fashion and history, and
note things from each of them to include in
the magazine I am making.
2 Production Experiments,
Proposal, Planning
 Try to create a faux-magazine cover that
looks something like what I am trying to do
in my gaming magazine, but on a different
topic. Possibly create a magazine cover
based on Rooster Teeth, or RWBY
specifically.
3 Production  Finish my magazine cover and double-page
spread within one week, and make it as
good as it can be.
4 Production  Try to improve on the magazine cover and
double-page spread that I made last week,
and possibly make more of the magazine as
if it was going to be a real thing, like a
contents page or back cover.
5 Evaluation  Evaluate how good (or bad) the things I
created for my magazine were, as well as the
process leading up to the creation of the
pieces for my magazine, and think about
what I would do differently if I were to make
the magazine again.
