Infrared spectroscopy is a technique used to obtain an infrared spectrum of absorption or emission of a solid, liquid or gas. The infrared spectrum shows the molecular absorption and transmission peaks of a sample with different frequencies of infrared light. Infrared spectroscopy allows the identification of unknown materials through comparison of spectral bands or peaks of molecules to a reference chart.
