Influences

 ‘CyberBully: Maisie Williams’(Drama-Doc) – This drama – documentary was the most
influential in making me want to create a documentary about cyber bullying, this is due to
the fact that Maisie Williams story was so compelling that it made me want to create more
awareness about the implications that cyber bullying has on individuals lives.
 This documentary explored how those who have been affected by cyber bullying had dealt
with how cyber bullying affected their lives; the majority of victims had taken their own lives
as they could not live with the bullying anymore. Also it explored how the families of the
victims had dealt with losing their loved ones to a new form of bullying.
 After careful analysis of different articles on cyber bullying I had come across a very
influential case of cyber bullying, that had gained a lot of coverage in the media. This
individual ‘Amanda Todd’ had committed suicide due to being bullied and harassed on social
media, this article had also urged me to pursue the topic of cyber bullying.
 This article from the BBC was very influential and had a great impact on my documentary as
it speaks about how cyber bullying creates a normal social child into a depressed person
who is willing to take their life to get away from their bullies. This had pushed me to contact
a victim of cyber bullying to interview and speak about how they got over the bullying and if
they had thoughts of suicide.
