INFLIBNET is an autonomous organization established in 1991 that aims to promote automation of libraries in India. It works to provide resources like journals, ebooks, and databases to universities and colleges. Some of its key activities include maintaining the UGC-Infonet Digital Library Consortium which provides access to journals, the N-List program which gives colleges access to eresources, and digital repositories like Shodhganga and Shodhgangotri which archive theses and research synopses. INFLIBNET's goals are to fully automate university libraries and create online union catalogs of resources.

2. INTRODUCTION

3. OBJECTIVES
 To promote and implement computerization.
 To evolve standard and uniform guideline.
 To provide reliable access to document collection of libraries.
 To provide access to bibliographic information sources.
 To develop new methods and techniques for archival.
 To optimize information resource utilization.
 To create data base of projects, institutions, specialists, etc.
 To encourage cooperation among libraries, documentation center and
information center in the country.

 To facilitate academic communication.
 To undertake system design and studies in the field of
communications, computer networking, information handling and
data management.
 To establish appropriate control and monitoring system for the
communication network and organize maintenance.
 To collaborate with institutions, libraries, information centres and
other organizations.
 To generate revenue.

 Create union catalogues of documents available in libraries in online and real-
time environment.
 Promote digitization of legacy documents and creation of content in e-format
in universities.

8. N-LIST PROGRAM
 Provides access to e-resources to students, researchers and faculty from colleges and
other beneficiary institutions.
 With the help of UGC
 3772 registered colleges.

9. E-PGPATHSHALA
 The MHRD, under its National Mission on Education through ICT (NME-ICT), has
assigned work to the UGC for development of e-content.
 77 subjects at postgraduate level.
 Content in different subjects across all disciplines of social sciences, arts, fine arts &
humanities, natural & mathematical sciences, linguistics and languages

holdings information for books, journals and theses in all subject areas
