The industrial revolution brought enormous changes through new technologies like the steam engine. Steam engines used coal to power machines in new factories. These factories employed large numbers of workers and were often located near sources of coal. One key inventor was James Watt, who improved the steam engine design in the late 1700s, making the rotary motion more useful for powering other machines. The industrial revolution transformed both industry and agriculture, allowing fewer people to produce more goods and food through new mechanized methods of manufacturing and farming.

in our life
➔ The industrial revolution is the enormous change
in our life as first things were made with hands
and they only made the minor things at one time .
There are different types of industrial change for
example in hilly areas they could be driven by the
water of fast-flowing rivers and streams
➔ Steam engines worked by using coal to boil water
which turned to steam and drove the machines
➔ Businessman build substantial factories
➔ Factories were situated in areas where coal was
plentiful
➔ Thats why the britain industries were situated in
central and northern areas
➔ Huge number of workers are used in factories
➔ There are also agricultural revolution

Agricultural
revolution?
● Agriculture meaning is that more food
could be produced by fewer people
● Machine workers could produce goods
much faster and cheaper than home
workers

4. Intro of james watt
➢ Steam engines played a very important role in industrial
revolution
➢ Steam engine was fully exploited by james watt (1736-1819)
➢ Watt was son of scottish businessman
➢ He learnt latin and greek language and ,mathematics
➢ He loved going to his fathers workshop where he had his own
tools and workbench
➢ He had models of cranes in the workshop
➢ So basically he became the mathematical instrument maker
➢ He opened his shop in glasgow scotland where he lives .
➢ So fundamentally his story starts from here that in britain the
steam engine was invented by thomas newcomen
➢ And there were many machines in britain
➢ When watt studied the little machine his attentiveness was catch
by the steam engines and he thought that the steam is taking
much heat so he realised that it needs the separate condenser

● Steam engine was watts first invention
● In 1774 watts went to the partnership with a
manufactured who built steam engines to watts
design
● In 1776 the first 2 engines were made
● Then watt spend in south west for 5 years for
installing pumping engines at copper and tin mines
● Watt invented an engine with new type of rotary or
round and round movement
● So essentially what is the meaning of rotary ?
● It means that the machine could fly wheel to which
the belt could be attached to drive many kind of
machinery
● So thats why watt became a wealthy man
● And in 1804 a british richard trevithick built a steam
locomotive! It ran on 10 mile track 10 tonnes of iron bar at
per hour

❖ No child under 9 years old could work in factory
❖ Children b/w the ages of 9 and 13 were for nly 9 hours a
day
❖ Children were not allowed to work at night
❖ Each child had to have 2 hours of education each
working day
