Upnayan was a 5-day induction program for new students at IIIT Kota to help them transition from school to college life. The program included ice-breaking sessions to help students interact with their batchmates, as well as skills workshops on topics like communication, teamwork, leadership, time management, and entrepreneurship. Students learned how to enhance their academic and soft skills. They were also introduced to the college rules and various clubs. Overall, the program helped students develop important life skills that will support them not just in their college careers but also future professional lives.

2. Upnayan
Upnayan was the induction programme initiated by IIIT Kota for their upcoming
batch of 2021 – 2025. This program was introduced so that students must know the
changes that will occur in their life while transiting from their school life to their
college life. Also, this program provided students with the knowledge that was not
only essential in their college life but also for their upcoming future. Upnayan was a
5-day programme which began on 3rd January and ended on 7th January. Let us
now take a quick recap of Upnayan and the learning gained from this programme.

3. Introduction and Ice-Breaking Session
 The program began with the most important Saraswati Vandana and then with the warm
greetings from faculty members.
 Ice breaking session was definitely a must need for all the students.
 We were interacting with all our batchmates with whom we have to spend our next four
years of college.
 Most interestingly, all students actively participated in the conversation and it was like we
were all familiar to each other since a long time.

 Interaction with batchmates was like all the parts of country united together.
 These sessions helped me to overcome my consciousness and nervousness.
 Preparing introduction within a few span of time and then compiling it all was a
new beginning of teamwork.
 It was a learning for me of teamwork and leadership skills through these ice
breaking session.

5. Skills in this Contemporary World
 Most people enhance their academic skills but lacks in their communication skills
which is the most important skill in the contemporary world.
 You may have all the knowledge of the topic but if you can’t make a proper
communication between you and the listener your knowledge has no means.
 An good speaker and his ability to effectively explain his views are most sought after
by the industry.
Mentors provided us with many opportunities to us to communicate with them and
with our batchmates.
They also gave us the teachings for a better communication.

6. Mesmerizing Sessions
 All the mentors designed their sessions in such a way that no student should miss
the knowledge along with fun.
These mesmerizing sessions gave us no chance of getting bored.
 Learning concepts of life through games like Chinese Whisper which clearly
show how small misconceptions can end up making a huge difference.
 Creating the tallest tower from a sheet of paper, kept us enjoying throughout and
to enhance our thinking skills..

7. Mesmerizing Sessions
 Next comes the entrepreneurship, which is the dream for every college student
especially youngsters.
 The main thing which I liked most about that session is, first thing in
entrepreneurship is to Start and an entrepreneur has no fear of failure.
 Session on time management was also given to students for their upcoming college
life where they have a lot of things to learn, so that how they can use their time
effectively. This session was very knowledgeable for me.
 The side-stories that our mentors told us were really inspiring.

8. Getting Intimate to our College
So, on the last day of this programme faculties were making us familiar with the
rules and regulations of our college, the time table, the curriculum, the academic
calendar and much more. There were numerous small sessions on different cells of
our college like the library cell, sports cell, anti-ragging cell.
We were introduced to the clubs in our colleges by our seniors. All the clubs are
really exciting.

9. Learnings from Upnayan
 Being an introvert person I couldn’t open up with anyone easily but these sessions help
me to find out a newer version of myself.
 Change and transition session was an essential session for us as college life is much
different from school life.
 Learning style is something we never focus on but having a proper learning style help
us in the academics and also saves our time.
 Teamwork fosters creativity, learning and collaborative problem solving leads to better
outcomes. Session on teamwork also reminded me with a popular quote of Sir Ratan
Tata “If you want to walk fast, walk alone but if you want to walk far, walk
together”.

10. Learnings from Upnayan
Leadership was something which I was somewhat familiar with but this session provided
me with a more knowledge on leadership and the most importantly effective leadership.
 We had some very insightful sessions on topics like effective studentship, where I
learnt about goalsetting, creativity, and critical thinking.
 Fine Craft session helped us to enhance our creativity and imagination by trying through
a new stuff of making the tallest tower from a single A4 sheet.
 Realizing the importance of soft skills.
 The informative session on time management, memory, and test taking skills was much
needed.

11. Prospective of Upnayan
Leadership, creativity and teamwork are the building blocks of a person’s college life
and also in his/her corporate career. The studying fashion and reminiscence strategies
taught in Upnayan would be useful in learning strategy thoroughly. It could additionally
make the studying amusing and efficient. Communication abilities and emotional
information are virtually essential in someone`s life. You have to recognize a way to
cope with human beings and to make certain you recognize every other.
Knowledge and skills we gained in Upnayan would be useful for not only in our college
life but also in our social and corporate life. So overall I learned a lot during this and
will also try to work on myself and will implement these learning in my life.
