Csr training: Seven strategies to make it work for participantsWayne Dunn
Making CSR training work. Training should produce meaningful value for participants, and those who pay for their participation.
Executive training programs can be boring, dull and virtually useless. Or they can be dynamic, career altering, fun and productive.
Here are some thoughts on how we can make CSR Training work better for participants.

Supporting Employability through Self Development - Toolkit NGO THY
This toolkit brings a compilation of workshops
that can be used on different youth activities
on the topics of unemployment, employability,
entrepreneurship and intercultural learning.
The toolkit has been created as a result of the
intensive work by participants and trainer's
team during the Training Course and Seminar
“Supporting Employability through Self
Development”, as well as during the local level
workshops.
It is a toolkit made by participants of the project “Supporting Employability through Self
Development”.
- The participants designed and implemented workshops in small groups during the Training in
order to discover and create new tools and methods of non formal learning.
- The workshops were tested on the rest of participants, improved and prepared to be published by participants after the training course.
- Participants also tried out these workshops on local follow-up activities and included their
improvements and proposals into this toolkit.
- It serves as a manual for youth workers and youth leaders and it is free of charge.
Sonia Shakir from the UK National Agency presented at Learning Networks on 5 December, sharing thoughts from the NA and facilitating the session. Alongside her, Sara Southam from the Transnational Cooperation Activities (TCA) team shared the current findings of ongoing research into employability.

1. Summer Internship Programme,
In CSR Department, L&T Power
TrainingPeriod: 1st
May to 31st
May
Venue: Larsen & Toubro,
Knowledge City,
Vadodara- 390019
May 2015, has been extremely productive in a proficient way as it has been the first step in the
highly professional working sector. Being a Student of Masters in Social Work (MSW) - a
professional degree, getting training in a vastly reputed organization under highly qualified
Supervisors namely Dr. Namita Gopal and Mr. Sanjiv Trivedi has been exceptionally significant
in my academic prospects.
The following role has been played in the activities undertaken during the training:
1.) Event: Volunteering Orientation
An event on Volunteering Orientation, held on 27th April 2015 helped me to understand about
‘Managing the Event.’ From the start till the end, everything had a hint of learning something
new. Being the announcer at the event, it instilled a lot of confidence and knowledge on the
initiatives of CSR by L&T. The event gave a good acquaintance about managing the things with
the other colleagues and getting the work done collectively. Overall, the event was a good
start-up exposure for the initial mark.
2.) Project: Humanity
Working on this valued concept of Volunteering teaching to the slum dwellers, flyover
migrants and other under-privilege people gave a very different outlook. Making modules
for the target audience, creating Outlook group and coordinating with the fellow mates
made the work quite more interesting. A good amount of knowledge had been shared
2. between all volunteers where a lot of new learning and different ideas were innovated to
run the project.
3.) Project: Under Skill Building Programme, ‘Cutting and Tailoring Course’
Starting this project of Cutting and Tailoring Course in Khatamba Village gave an
immense exposure in the Community field. This project essentially helped to apply all the
theory that has been covered in the Social Work Course. The pedagogy of Paulo Freire
made more sense to me after practically applying it on the field. Principles of Community
Development, linking people with resources, Principle of Conscientization and other
basic requisites like rapport building, fact finding, knowing the people, dealing with the
odds etc. helped me to start this project. This particular project actually made me relate to
the theory of MSW Course.
Along with the three main projects, the other administrative work like designing a
medical kit, quotations from different medical shops, designing stationary kit, quotations
from different stationary shops, talking to various school principals and knowing about
number of students and the subjects per standards, knowing about IndiaCSR initiatives
and its awards, designing the banners for The Skill Building Course and Volunteering
Teaching etc. helped to gain a very good amount of coverage at a competent level. Even
the ‘Mobile Medical Van’ and ‘Science on Wheels’ gave a good knowledge on OPD
functioning and Science modules, respectively.
Summing up, the basic motive behind taking up the voluntary training in the summer
break was to gain practical knowledge in the area of interest – CSR. I believe, the training
imparted has done a full justice and I am absolutely contented with the quality of work
rendered. Along with the Supervisors, Dr. Namita Gopal and Mr. Sanjiv Trivedi, the
other colleagues as well as the office boys had been extremely courteous and helpful.
Again, thank you for your efforts to encourage and increase my knowledge and skill at a
professional level. Looking forward to keep in touch!!!
