to have strong cognitive abilities
and stay up-to-date with the latest know-how and broad range of skills.
Hence, it is crucial for schools and colleges
to incorporate new and pragmatic learning techniques
to help students become future-ready.
Learning by doing or experiential schooling
will not only enables them to gain a deeper understanding
of the subjects, but also enhances creativity

CORE THEME OF NEP 2020
Under National Education Policy 2020, the Central and State Governments would work
together to increase the public investment in education sector and to reach 6 percent
of the GDP at the earliest.
Further universalisation of education from pre-school to secondary level, with 100
percent Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in school education by 2030.
This National Education Policy 2020 aims to transform India into a vibrant knowledge
society making both school and college education more holistic, flexible,
multidisciplinary, suited to 21st century needs and aspirations and aimed at bringing
out the unique capabilities of each individual student

EARLY STAGE SCHOOL
FOUNDATION STAGE : AGE 3-8
The stage will be split into two: Preschool for 3 years and Grades I-II:
This stage consists of play and activity-based learning.

SECONDARY STAGE SCHOOL
MULTIDISIPLINARY LEARNING: AGE 14-18
This stage will comprise of 4 years of multidisciplinary study with 2 sub stages.
• Stage 1 (Grade IX-X) Stage 2 (Grade XI-XII)
There will be no rigid separations between: arts and sciences, between curricular,
extra-curricular activities, and between vocational and academic streams.
It will provide students with greater depth, greater critical thinking, greater
attention to life aspirations, greater flexibility and increased flexibility and
choice of subjects so that they choose their own paths according to their talents
and interests.
POWER OF LANGUAGE
MULTILINGUALISM
Till Grade 5 medium of instruction will be in home language/ mother tongue /local
language/regional language.
Three-language formula will be offered at all levels of school and higher
education including Sanskrit as one of the option to enrich mind.
Foreign languages will be offered at secondary and college level including
Korean, Japanese, Thai, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian .
Indian Sign Language (ISL) will be standardized across the country.
VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
SKILL BASED
The NEP attempts to integrate practical knowledge at multiple levels.
The policy allows school curriculums to focus mainly on teaching core concepts,
and requires vocational education to be integrated into the curriculum from
Class VI. At least 50% of learners through the school and higher education
system shall have exposure to vocational education. Beginning with vocational
exposure at early ages in middle and secondary school, quality vocational
education will be integrated smoothly into higher education.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
STRONG MIND & BODY
All students at all levels of school will have
regular periods and opportunities to participate in
physical activity and exercise,
including sports, games, yoga, martial arts,
dance, gardening, and more,
in accordance with
local availability of trained teachers
and infrastructure facilities.
ASSESSMENT REFORMS
HOLISTIC ASSESSMENT
The policy also suggests a modification in the assessment methodology used to
measure learning outcomes. Board exams will be reformed and redesigned to
make it easier by testing core capacities/competencies of students.
All students will be allowed to take Board Exams on up to two occasions - one main
examination and one for improvement during any given school year.
All students will take school examinations in Grades 3, 5, and 8 which will be
conducted by the appropriate authority.
NEW NATIONAL ASSESSMENT CENTRE - PARAKH
(Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development), will be
established as a standard setting body for setting norms, standards, and guidelines for student
assessment and evaluation for all recognized school boards of India.
REDEFINING ROLE OF EDUCATOR
TEACHER / TRAINER
Qualified teachers will be recruited through robust, transparent processes.
Merit-based promotions, with a mechanism for multi-source periodic performance appraisals.
Offer alternative progression paths to become educational administrators or teacher educators.
RESILIENCE EMOTIONAL INTELLEGENCE FLEXIBILITY & ADAPTABILITY

CREATIVE & CRITICAL
THINKING
STATE SCHOOL REGULATORY AUTHORITY
An independent, state-wide, regulatory body called the
State School Regulatory Authority will be created for each state.

NEED OF EDUCATION EDUCATION TRANSFORMATION IN INDIA Most workplaces today expect their employees to have strong cognitive abilities and stay up-to-date with the latest know-how and broad range of skills. Hence, it is crucial for schools and colleges to incorporate new and pragmatic learning techniques to help students become future-ready. Learning by doing or experiential schooling will not only enables them to gain a deeper understanding of the subjects, but also enhances creativity
  • 4. NEED OF EDUCATION EDUCATION TRANSFORMATION IN INDIA We are preparing students for jobs that do not exist today. Using technology that has not been invented. For solving problems of tomorrow for which we have no idea.
  • 5. CORE THEME OF NEP 2020 Under National Education Policy 2020, the Central and State Governments would work together to increase the public investment in education sector and to reach 6 percent of the GDP at the earliest. Further universalisation of education from pre-school to secondary level, with 100 percent Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in school education by 2030. This National Education Policy 2020 aims to transform India into a vibrant knowledge society making both school and college education more holistic, flexible, multidisciplinary, suited to 21st century needs and aspirations and aimed at bringing out the unique capabilities of each individual student
  • 6. EARLY SCHOOL (5 Years) PREPARATORY SCHOOL (3 Years) MIDDLE SCHOOL (3 Years) SECONDARY SCHOOL (4 Years) NEW EDUCATION SYSTEM - 2020
  • 7. EARLY STAGE SCHOOL FOUNDATION STAGE : AGE 3-8 The stage will be split into two: Preschool for 3 years and Grades I-II: This stage consists of play and activity-based learning. DEVELOPING CURIOSITY LOGICAL THINKING & PROBLEM SOLVING ARTS, CRAFTS, & MUSIC RELATIONSHIP WITH NATURE COLOURS, SHAPES, ALPHABETS, NUMBERS TEAM WORK COLLOBRATIONS PLAY AND DISCOVERY BASED LEARNING ETHICS & SELF IDENTITY ETIQUETTE, BEHAVIOUR, AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
  • 8. PREPARATORY STAGE SCHOOL FORMATIVE STAGE: AGE 8-11 The stage will be from grades III-V: Transition from play-based learning to formal but interactive classroom learning. INTEGRATED LEARNING READING WRITING SPEAKING PHYSICAL EDUCATION ART LANGUAGES SCIENCE MATHEMATICS
  • 9. MIDDLE STAGE SCHOOL ABSTRACT LEARNING : AGE 11-14 The stage will be from grades VI-VIII: This stage consists of widening the scope of learning the students. DEVELOPING CURIOSITY LOGICAL THINKING & PROBLEM SOLVING ARTS, CRAFTS, & MUSIC RELATIONSHIP WITH NATURE COLOURS, SHAPES, ALPHABETS, NUMBERS TEAM WORK COLLOBRATIONS PLAY AND DISCOVERY BASED LEARNING ETHICS & SELF IDENTITY ETIQUETTE, BEHAVIOUR, AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
  • 10. SECONDARY STAGE SCHOOL MULTIDISIPLINARY LEARNING: AGE 14-18 This stage will comprise of 4 years of multidisciplinary study with 2 sub stages. • Stage 1 (Grade IX-X) Stage 2 (Grade XI-XII) There will be no rigid separations between: arts and sciences, between curricular, extra-curricular activities, and between vocational and academic streams. It will provide students with greater depth, greater critical thinking, greater attention to life aspirations, greater flexibility and increased flexibility and choice of subjects so that they choose their own paths according to their talents and interests.
  • 11. POWER OF LANGUAGE MULTILINGUALISM Till Grade 5 medium of instruction will be in home language/ mother tongue /local language/regional language. Three-language formula will be offered at all levels of school and higher education including Sanskrit as one of the option to enrich mind. Foreign languages will be offered at secondary and college level including Korean, Japanese, Thai, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian . Indian Sign Language (ISL) will be standardized across the country.
  • 12. VOCATIONAL EDUCATION SKILL BASED The NEP attempts to integrate practical knowledge at multiple levels. The policy allows school curriculums to focus mainly on teaching core concepts, and requires vocational education to be integrated into the curriculum from Class VI. At least 50% of learners through the school and higher education system shall have exposure to vocational education. Beginning with vocational exposure at early ages in middle and secondary school, quality vocational education will be integrated smoothly into higher education.
  • 13. PHYSICAL EDUCATION STRONG MIND & BODY All students at all levels of school will have regular periods and opportunities to participate in physical activity and exercise, including sports, games, yoga, martial arts, dance, gardening, and more, in accordance with local availability of trained teachers and infrastructure facilities.
  • 14. ASSESSMENT REFORMS HOLISTIC ASSESSMENT The policy also suggests a modification in the assessment methodology used to measure learning outcomes. Board exams will be reformed and redesigned to make it easier by testing core capacities/competencies of students. All students will be allowed to take Board Exams on up to two occasions - one main examination and one for improvement during any given school year. All students will take school examinations in Grades 3, 5, and 8 which will be conducted by the appropriate authority. NEW NATIONAL ASSESSMENT CENTRE - PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development), will be established as a standard setting body for setting norms, standards, and guidelines for student assessment and evaluation for all recognized school boards of India.
  • 15. REDEFINING ROLE OF EDUCATOR TEACHER / TRAINER Qualified teachers will be recruited through robust, transparent processes. Merit-based promotions, with a mechanism for multi-source periodic performance appraisals. Offer alternative progression paths to become educational administrators or teacher educators. RESILIENCE EMOTIONAL INTELLEGENCE FLEXIBILITY & ADAPTABILITY CONTINUOUS LEARNING ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS CREATIVE & CRITICAL THINKING
  • 16. STATE SCHOOL REGULATORY AUTHORITY An independent, state-wide, regulatory body called the State School Regulatory Authority will be created for each state.
