This document lists the denominations of currency used in India, including coins and banknotes ranging from 1 paise to 2,000 rupees. It notes that 500 and 1,000 rupee banknotes were introduced in November 2016 but became invalid shortly after, while new 500 and 2,000 rupee notes were introduced at that time.
