The Indian Army is the largest standing volunteer army in the world, with over 1.1 million active personnel. It evolved from the British Indian Army after independence in 1947. Since then, the Indian Army has been responsible for safeguarding India's territorial integrity by fighting several wars with neighboring Pakistan and China. In addition to combat roles, the Army also provides assistance during domestic disasters and participates in UN peacekeeping missions. However, being a soldier requires great sacrifice, as they must constantly be prepared and do not have time for holidays, while risking their lives to protect India.
