Introduction
• Land based branch and largest component of
Indian Armed forces.

• Other major operation undertaken by Indian Army
include operation Vijay & operation Parakram.

against external aggression.
• Due to Country’s long borders different

desert terrain in the west , snow covered
mountains in the north , thick rain fed
mountain jungle in the east , the army has to
constantly prepare itself for diverse conditions.
• It assist civil administration during internal
security.
• It organizes relief operation camp during
natural disaster like flood , earthquake and
cyclone.

aircrafts.
