This document discusses incorporating library provision in school self-evaluation. It begins by explaining that traditionally, school libraries have been evaluated based on library management rather than their impact on teaching and learning. The author then describes a project to develop models for self-evaluation of school libraries focused on learning outcomes. Next, it discusses the importance of self-evaluation in schools and different approaches to school and library evaluation. The remainder of the document outlines the research and development process for the new self-evaluation models, including consultation with practitioners, and describes how the final models were devised based on the Ofsted inspection framework.
