Emphasize the importance of “interpersonal identification between valued and devalued people” Working with other teachers and support staff in developing a one day workshop on empathy and team building. “ We are all unique and talented in our own ways”
The agenda for the day’s workshop From Me to We- Agenda   Goals 1 - Acceptance of oneself-Have students discover unique characteristics about oneself and that it is ok for us to be different as a learner, the way we look and in the way we socially interact with others.    Introduction  (library)- the team, nametags, agenda   Ice breaker  (mini gym or library)- “Shake”- Getting to know names.   “ Quality World” ( library, mini-gym, classrooms)- Collage activity discovering about oneself and how everyone has a unique quality world.   Recess  break,  snacks  in the library after recess   Multiple intelligences  (library)- activities that emphasize that we have a multiple ways of learning and that some people may have challenges learning one way but be very talented in another way. Animal story/ video and discussion Multiple intelligences- presentation and video Communication exercise- listen and draw Visual exercise-mirrors and drawing, video and memory   Ice breaker  “Holding Your Own” –talking exercise   Lunch Break   Goal 2 - Now that we accept it’s ok to be unique and different, how do we build a sense of belonging and acceptance so that LM is an inclusive school?    Ice breaker-  “The Sculpture and the clay” our body language tells a lot about us-excitement, loneliness,    Heroes : Finding the Hero within you! (library) Characteristics of heroes: Super heroes! National Heroes, International Heroes Everyday Heroes: what are their characteristics? What heroic acts can we perform everyday in our school? What gets in the way of us being an everyday Hero?   Nutrition and recess break    Compliments exercise -(Begin in library, go to classroom) Ice breaker- “The Goose Story”-Flock dance Exit slip
Me to We Memories Drama Story telling Guest speakers Quality worlds Multiple intelligences
Teaching of Social Skills Increase the amount of “positive social integration and valued social participation”
