In the middle of the night, the author is awake thinking about their poetry. They find inspiration from their desktop screen and open scripture beside them. The author describes being in the middle of writing a stanza, hearing a man making dinner alone outside. Their mind wanders to past experiences of leaving home as a child and feeling lost and alone on a bus ride. Years later, a classmate introduced them to a man who listened to the author's story and past pain, cleansing and healing their wounds through his care and the precious gift he gave. The author found great joy in this man, who they realized was Jesus, and it was in the middle of his love that they found forgiveness and the ability to move on.

This is our seventh issue, Emergence! While contemplating the theme, we came across Emergence, as a nod to the changing normality of our culture and sense of self. Having spent the better part of the past two years on our own during this pandemic, we wanted to center on the act of self-reflection. It is the exploration of the many facets of our identities, how they merge together to form a complex and wonderful person, and the ways in which we strive to understand ourselves and each other.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
1. In the Middle
Written by Ryan Jimenez
June 25, 2017
I am still awake in the middle of the night
Thinking how possibly to end my poetry
Yet it is endless in desire to seek more
Words blended with great emotion
I am brightened up by the desktop screen
Covering the doubts of my ability
Knowing that I am a poet with dreams
Trying to leave meaning to reality
Beside me is the scripture that is widely open
As if craving for attention in my poetry
I could not think of other ways
To describe how excited I am now
The slumberous noise of my spinning fan
The mystery of propelling winds
Touching my skin with coldness
How things change constantly
I am in the middle of the stanza
Hearing outside a man so busy
Perhaps making his dinner alone
In his twilight years leaving on his own
My feet cross together feeling the pressing
Running towards my mind telling how it feels
My back has its story to bend down in obedience
Where my fingers keep on hitting the letters
Looking in the middle of the wall in my room
Beyond is the rigid decision that hinders me out
Holding with my palm so rough and stiff
Bringing me to the time I left home then
In the middle of the night I ran at the terminal
With my things for I didn't know where to go
As the bus travelled that cold evening
My eyes watered with tears flowing against the wind
The window near I sat breathed fresh air on my face
Seething hatred became my constant companion
Numbed by the time of words spoken so painful
Feeding my broken soul with the food of bitterness
I was lost and no one to share this loneliness I felt
I fell asleep and found myself wanting to vomit
Getting into my nostrils the hell smell of the bus
Belching smoke sickened me every time it stopped
I covered my face with my 10-year old bag so new
I arrived in the city of my childhood playing kites
I put back my things at my back
To bring to where my aunt lived
Shockingly seeing my looks like a pauper
Embracing her with sobbing noise of silence
Telling the tale of my leaving of abandonment
The slits on my left wrist echoed the disappointment
I forgot to feel the pain where I once was
As time went by in many years of diligence
I saw a man whom my classmate introduced to me
A smile seen on his face made me feel nervous
I sat in front of him and he shared something
Questions were raised and answers were silent
I felt from his soul a concern to listen and care
Tears flowed out unnoticed from my eyes
Words left unsaid started to be heard
The leftover pain petrified by lengthy years
Cleansed and purified by the blood he shed
The man whom I found great joy like a river
In the middle of the flood and storm
Yet protected by the precious gift he gave
A light that shone in the middle of darkness
A souring eagle in the middle of danger
A tree in the middle of the forest
A man in the middle of the thieves
My lips blurted out how sinful I was
The wounds were healed out of love
The man whom God sent to the world
I received him my saviour and Lord
He is Jesus where I found the moving on
Where forgiveness is like a fluffy feather
From the bird of yesterday burden
He hugged me in the middle of love
