INTRODUCTION
• An improvised explosive device (IED) is a type of
unconventional explosive weapon that can take any form and
be activated in a variety of ways. They target soldiers and
civilians alike.
• This are mainly used by terrorist to harm the civilian .
• IEDs are easily manufactured by the terrorist.
cause extensive damage to Govt./ private property
• cause extensive damage to economic installations etc
TYPES OF IED’S
1) CAR BOMB
• A vehicle may be laden with
explosives, set to explode by
remote control or by a
passenger/driver, commonly
known as a car bomb or
vehicle-borne IED
ANIMAL BOMB
• Animal-borne bomb attacks
are the use of animals as
delivery systems for
explosives. The explosives
are strapped to a pack animal
such as a horse, mule or
donkey. The pack animal may
be set off in a crowd.
MOLTOV COCKTAIL( PETROL BOMB)
• A Molotov cocktail, also known
as a petrol bomb, gasoline
bomb, bottle bomb, poor man's
grenade, fire bomb (not to be
confused with an actual fire
bomb), fire bottle or
just Molotov, sometimes
shortened as Molly, is a generic
name used for a variety of
bottle-
based improvised incendiary
weapons.
ROBOT BOMB
A robot bomb are the robot
whick carries the explosive and
controlled by remotely through
remote location or can blast
automatically when time is over
SUITCASE BOMB
• A suitcase nuclear
device (also suitcase
nuke, suitcase
bomb, backpack nuke, mini-
nuke, and pocket nuke) is
a tactical nuclear weapon that
is portable enough that it
could use a suitcase as its
delivery method
TIN BOX BOMB
The normally used tin boxes of
ghee or oil are used where they
fill the explosive material.
This are normally operated by
remote.
But some time they put some
shock sensitive material ,if
shock is applied on box then it
explode
TIME BOMB
• A time bomb is a bomb
whose detonation is triggered
by a timer. The use of time
bombs has been for various
purposes including insurance
fraud, terrorism,
assassination, sabotage and
warfare.
SUICIDE BOMB
• A suicide attack is any violent
attack, usually involving an
explosion, in which attackers
accept their own death as a
direct result of the attacking
method used.
INVESTIGATION OF IEDS
• By sniffing dogs- sniffing
dogs are the breeds of dogs
which have the heavy sense
smell,
Mostly used dogs breeds are
bloodhound.
BOMB DETECTOR MACHINE
XRAY MACHINE
• Specially designed X-ray machines can
detect explosives by looking at the
density of the items being examined.
They use Computed axial
tomography based systems that are
enhanced with dedicated software,
containing an explosives threat library
and false-color coding, to assist
operators with their dedicated threat
resolution protocols.[citation needed] X-ray
detection is also used to detect related
components such as detonators, but this
can be foiled if such devices are hidden
inside other electronic equipment.[10
