Improving self directed learning through technology
Through technology, self-directed learning can be improved by moving beyond conventional methods. The constant in education is change. Newer technologies like open educational resources, video conferencing tools, flipped classrooms, self-publishing, e-portfolios, YouTube, Facebook, and e-books allow for more engaging and global methods of self-directed learning compared to conventional libraries. These technologies provide open access to courses, materials, videos, software and journals to facilitate learning.
