The document discusses the impact of information technology on training and development at PowerGrid Corporation of India Limited. It finds that most employees find it easier to store and access data using computers and software compared to physical files. While IT has improved work, some older employees need more training to fully utilize new technologies. Younger employees are generally more comfortable with IT. The document recommends providing annual rather than biannual training, and ensuring trainers understand different employee needs and skill levels.
IMPLEMENTATION OF DECISION SUPPORT PERSONNEL RECRUITMENT SYSTEM FOR LAGUNA ST...IJMIT JOURNAL
The Laguna State Polytechnic University-San Pablo City Campus viewed the hiring of possible employees as a major problem in the university because it takes time for the human resource department to facilitate the process of recruitment. The main objective of the study is to implement a web-based decision support personnel recruitment system that can screen qualified applicants, assist the human resource personnel in ranking the applicants and generate reports. The system was developed using PHP, CSS, Java Script and XHTML as programming platform and MySQL as database engine. The system design, testing and evaluation procedures were presented. Test results show that the project is secured and can be best viewed in Google Chrome, IE7+, Mozilla Firefox and Opera Mini using personal computer, laptop, tablet and mobile phone. Two questionnaires were distributed - ISO 9126 Software Quality Matrix and acceptability survey to determine whether the implementation was successful. Based from the results of evaluation conducted, the project was rated as excellent with an overall mean of 4.52. The users also agreed that the system was acceptable in terms of interface, operability, security and portability. It was recommended that the system should allow multiple applications for different job vacancies and the ranking of applicants with the same points should be tie regardless of who submitted the application first.

explored. A total of 424 out of 450 members of the sampled firms participated,
representing 94% response rate. The information was acquired through the use of an
organized questionnaire while the participant targets include managers,
administrators, supervisors, and other classes of employees who were entreated to
honestly answer items in the questionnaire. The study evaluated construct test validity

The entrepreneurship, in today’s globalized economy, is linked with autonomy, venturing into new business, development of new products, pro-activeness, taking risks, innovation, strategic renewal, self-renewal, and competitive aggressiveness (Zahra and Garvis 1998). In this age of rapid developments in technology and the emerging global markets, the IT company has been able to utilize and develop its resources. The principles of corporate entrepreneurship are followed by prospering through the absorption of the pressures. It is a well known doctrine that the company’s performance is positively impacted by the involvement of corporate entrepreneurship (Wiklund 2009). The implication of this is by practicing entrepreneurship, the organizations would be successful in increasing the results that can be leading to the increase in GDP.

ABSTRACT
This study aims to identify the relationship between nature of ownership and level of adoption of e-recruitment practices in banks in Sri Lanka. The main objectives of the study were to examine the levels of e-recruitment practices currently adopted and to be adopted in the near future, perceived constraints and motives of e-recruitment and the degree of managerial perception on e-recruitment practices, particularly in banking sector organizations in Sri Lanka, are among objectives. The study analyzed responses given by 46 managerial employees who are responsible for staff recruitment in the respective banks in Sri Lanka. The study revealed that the patterns of adopting e-recruitment practices among State Banks (SB), Local Private Banks (LPB) and Foreign Banks (FB) are varied, and LPB is toped. The study further revealed that though perception of HR practitioners, towards e-recruitment is positive in LPBs than FBs and SBs and perception among line managers and senior managers remain negative in all three sectors. Reduced time taken for hire and reduced administrative burden/paper work were identified as key motives while lack of knowledge and negative attitudes were identified as major constraints in practicing e-recruitment as a major source of recruitment in banking sector organizations in Sri Lanka.

How Speed and Technology Change Everything.
In the recent past, training was a process almost disconnected from the daily operations of the rest of the organisation. Sometimes this gap was literal - training was often confined to a separate building.
At the same time, however, training's value was seldom questioned. It was understood to have a positive, if usually unmeasured, effect. The role of training was 'building capability' - giving employees 'just-in-case' knowledge and skills for use at some point in the future

Forward-thinking utilities, technology vendors, power engineering companies, universities, and government agencies will not try to reinvent the wheel, but rather leverage as many best practices as possible. This inaugural study by Zpryme and Smartgridcareers.com gives Smart Grid hiring managers the baseline data they need to start benchmarking their human capital strategy. The key findings and recommendations of this report will help utilities and Smart Grid vendors anticipate the challenges that lie ahead. Further, universities across the United States must begin to educate a new generation of energy leaders from diverse backgrounds in computer engineering, computer science, and engineering-focused IT.
Technology planning can be the catalyst used to enhance a school’s vision for the future, to strengthen its learning goals and to help realize its mission. The technology planning process itself must weigh the relationship between technology investments and student growth to be deemed successful. Technology planning requires that schools be willing to make substantial investments in time, resources, and support. The information provided on this website will focus on the essential elements of technology planning, which will include: (a) how to establish a vision statement (b) how to assess the schools technology needs to establish target area goals to improve learning, (c.) how to create effective professional development resources to increase the use of technology in the classroom, and (d.) how to support existing technological resources through funding and maintenance.

9. OBJECTIVE AND NEED OF THE
STUDY
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
To know the impact that Information Technology has made on the training
and development at PowerGrid Corporation Of India Limited.
SECONDARY OBJECTIVES
To find out whether there is a need of more training at PCIL for the current
employees or not.
To assess the level of satisfaction the employees have with the current
training.
To make suggestion and recommendations that may be able to help the
addressed problem identified
NEED OF THE STUDY
This study was done in order to get to know how much Information
Technology has impacted positively in the training and development as
well as the training need assessment conducted at PCIL.
10. LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
Because of lack of time, many materials could not be gathered in
support of many points discussed. As this research is currently
undertaken with academic work as part of the semester’s activity, the
limited time frame makes it impossible to extensively deal with every
issue associated with this topic.
The majority of employees are from B-tech background and have prior
knowledge of the software so while doing the research it was not easy
to segregate new users of softwares and computers from the
employees who already knew how to handle computers.
As questionnaire is self-structured, there are chances of missing some
constraints.
Finally some of the constraints that might be encountered in the
conduct of the investigation include non- availability of data and
inability of respondents to recall accurate responses.

12. FINDINGS
82.35% of the employees above the age of 50 says they require more
training related to the computers and online used software.
60% of the employee are comfortable with using the softwares in which the
male employees were more comfortable as compared to the female
employees, but we cannot decide this being gender specific as the number
of female employees who attempted the questionnaires were less as
compared to the male employees,(28 male and 12 female).
It also brought the fact that 54% employees of the company wants to get
more training.
97% of employees say it is easier to use the software and computers to
store data as compared to storing data in a file.
As the training happens every alternate year it becomes difficult for the
employees at times to use some of the softwares like SAP, ORACLE ERP
etc as not every employee who works on the software have prior
knowledge of the software.
Maximum number of employees agreed that virtual training is better than
the older methods of training.
13. RECOMMENDATIONS
As it is not possible to notice each employee’s plea separately, the
researcher recommends that special attention should be given to
employees above the age of 40 as they are the ones who require more
training related to using computer and several softwares as compared to
the new employees.
PCIL should actually start giving training to the employees every year
rather than alternate year as it will be more feasible and convenient for the
employees and as well as for the company’s growth.
Focus should be given that the trainer chosen understands the employees
and how to train them as few of the older employees had trouble with
coping up with what the trainer wants to convey.
14. CONCLUSION
Based on the findings, it is concluded that Information Technology has
a positive and huge impact on the training and development of
PowerGrid Corporation Of India Limited
Most of the employees find it more easy and convenient to store data,
do calculations, work on softwares online after being trained as
compared to the scenario before the company started storing data
online.
Majority of the people who are working in the company for the past 20
years said as compared to earlier times working today has become
more easy thanks to the computers.
But yes for getting trained properly a good trainer is needed and
PCIL should concentrate on training the employees every year rather
than alternate year in order to clear all their doubts and problems that
they face using computers.
