 Traditional Apprenticeships
 Trades Recognition through TS NSW & VTRP
 Offshore Skills Assessment Program (OSAP)
 The OSA is for applicants from nominated countries and
occupations who are applying for a permanent skilled migration
visa in nominated occupations and countries
 Trades Recognition Service (TRS)
 The TRS provides skills assessments via RPL by RTOs approved
by TRA in a range of automotive, metal and electrical
occupations.

5.  The review of the NSW Apprenticeship &
Traineeship Act has recommended abolishing of
the VTRP
 A new model for Trades Recognition through
TSNSW has been proposed
 Smart & Skilled RTOs will be engaged to carry
out assessments (Trade Tests)
 For Electricians this system needs to be different
as the Certificate of Proficiency (COP) is used by
Fair Trading for Licensing purposes

◦ Expected to be approved in next sitting session
◦ Regulations will be finalised prior to implementation in
January 2018

 Not all positions on IRC have been filled
 TAC is being established, proving difficult to get
