LdShake is a Web tool that enables the co-edition and social network-oriented sharing of learning designs created using a general rich text editor. Use cases for LdShake include joint design and sharing of learning designs in projects or communities across institutions, co-design by teams of teachers in charge of teaching the same course with different groups of students or co-creation of designs that require the integration of knowledge and skills developed by students in previous subjects with different teachers. In this workshop paper, we propose that instead of extending the general editor provided by LdShake to enhance specific aspects of its performance support for learning design, it can adopt existing learning design authoring tools which support diverse pedagogical approaches, are compliant with different computational representations or exporting formats, are specific to particular subject matters, etc. On the other hand, these existing tools are usually dispersed in different websites or product providers, and do not typically offer co-edition and social network sharing features. In the frame of this problem statement this paper poses the interest of supporting co-edition and sharing using diverse existing learning design editors within the same platform. As a proof of concept functional implementation the paper presents an extension of LdShake as an integrative platform providing two additional existing tools (WebCollage and eXeLearning) which, as a result of its integration in LdShake, are visualized within the same contextual interface and adopt the co-edition and sharing features of LdShake. The integrated whole has been shown to different stakeholders so that they could point out their opinion about the interest of such an approach and the quality of the resulting integrated interface and features

In this talk I will summarize research results leading to practical implications in the achievement of efficient and effective (enjoyable, appealing) collaborative learning, both from the perspective of learners and teachers. In particular, I will focus on how technology can support the design and orchestration of mobile collaborative learning scenarios. The technology presented will include authoring tools, teaching community platforms, enactment systems, orchestration dashboards and data-driven intervention based on learning analytics. I will also discuss synergies between technological solutions emphasizing human-in-control and machine-in-control perspectives. During the talk, participants will be able to experience some notions covered by interacting using the PyramidApp tool.

The evolution and adoption of Learning Analytics (LA) participates in the debate about the ethical challenges associated to technological advancement and the need to provide responsible technology. This debate in the field of educational technology focuses on the tension between the potential of LA to achieve more effective education and its impact on human behavior and well-being. In this talk I will present examples of solutions based on learning analytics proposed in the TIDE research group of Pompeu Fabra University - Barcelona (https://www.upf.edu/web/tide) that try to meet requirements of human-centred design, support for human agency, transparency, or human well-being. Examples include systems with LA components to support the design and orchestration of active learning activities, especially collaborative learning activities.

Opening up TEL research has to do with making more transparent and accessible each stage of the scientific cycle (research design, data collection, analysis, and publication) with open approaches to science, such as pre-registration, data sharing, transparent analyses, and open access publication (Zee & Reich, 2018). This initiative is very relevant from a perspective of Responsible Research and Innovation and to facilitate a more credible and robust evolution of the knowledge. However, it conveys several challenges. One important challenge has to do with ethical issues and data literacy challenges in the training of TEL researchers (making data readable and usable) and the end users (reading and using data). ata handling and visualization is crucial at the time of making science not only open, but also accessible by other researchers and the end users, normally unaware of being engaged in such processes. A subtle aspect of this situation relates the poor appropriation and utilization of scientific research products in the pedagogical field by potential users (stakeholders in the education and training system)(Jamil Salmi, 2015). In fact, approach to a more fair science promoted by the European Commission has been developing internationally for about ten years, but in the field of TEL, in spite of the easiness of massive data collection, the difficulties for opening up research have led to intrinsic, ongoing debates (Ho et al., 2014). This workshop will address this problem by introducing essential information on the Open Science movement. Moreover, since some instruments and areas of Open Science are better known, it will focus the emergent problem of Open Data in TEL research.

Abstract
I will present an overview of the educational technologies research conducted by the TIDE research group of the Information and Communication Technologies Department at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona (http://www.upf.edu/web/tide @TIDE_UPF). The overview will be articulated around the perspective of supporting teachers and teacher communities (e.g., a school) in the design of the best possible (technology-enhanced) learning activities considering their students and their contexts. Main contributions that will be presented include a community platform for integrated learning design (ILDE), including multiple authoring tools (e.g. PyramidApp for collaborative learning, edCrumble for blended learning) and the use of data analytics at different levels (learning, design, community) to support community awareness and teacher reflection when designing for learning. The presentation will include results of several research projects (METIS, CoT, MdM-EDS, RESET, SmartLET, Illuminated).
En esta ponencia presentaré un resumen de la investigación en tecnologías educativas llevada a cabo por el grupo TIDE del Departamento de Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones en la Universidad Pompeu Fabra en Barcelona (http://www.upf.edu/web/tide @TIDE_UPF). El resumen se presenta desde la perspectiva del apoyo al profesorado y a comunidades de profesores (como, por ejemplo, una escuela) en el diseño de buenas actividades de aprendizaje considerando los estudiantes y sus contextos. Las contribuciones principales incluyen una plataforma de comunidad para el diseño integrado de actividades de aprendizaje (ILDE), incluidas herramientas de autoría (como PyramidApp para aprendizaje colaborativo apoyado por ordenador, edCrumble para aprendizaje híbrido) y el uso de analíticas de datos a diferentes niveles (aprendizaje, diseño, comunidad) ara facilitar la conciencia de comunidad y la reflexión por los profesores cuando diseñan para generar aprendizajes. Davinia Hernández-Leo is Associate Professor and Serra Hunter Fellow in the Department of Information and Communications Technologies at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona (UPF), the Head of the Interactive and Distributed Technologies for Education group (TIDE), Vice-Dean of the UPF Engineering School and the Director of its Unit for teaching quality and innovation. She obtained her PhD at University of Valladolid (2007), has been a visiting scholar at the Open University of the Netherlands (2006), Virginia Tech (2012) and the University of Sydney (2015). Davinia's research lies at the intersection of network and computer applications, human-computer interaction, and learning sciences, with a special focus on technologies for learning design, computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL), analytics, architectures and devices for learning. Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. ILDE supports cooperation within a "Learning design" community, supported by
LdShake, in which its members (LdShakers) share and co-create multiple types of
learning design solutions (LdS) covering the complete lifecycle, from
conceptualization to authoring and to implementation.
Top bar menu
The top bar menu is divided in five main secions:
New LdS: Here you will be able to start the creation of a new LdS. The menu offers you access
to multiple learning design tools organized into three different submenus:
- Conceptualization tools, enabling you to focus on starting points for designs: from facilitating
understanding of the context and the expected users, to dealing with abstractions and drafts
around design elements and their interconnections (Course Map, Persona, Design Pattern,
Desing Narrative, Persona Card, Factors and Concerns, CompediumLD, ...)
- Authoring tools, allowing the production of detailed learning designs which are ready to use
with learners (WebCollage, OpenGLM, CADMOS)
- Implementation tools, supporting the application of the authored learning designs with
particular groups of students using specific virtual learning environments (e.g. Moodle) and set
of tools (e.g., Google apps) (via Glue!PS)
My LdS: In this section you will find all the LdS you create and the ones other LdShakers have
shared with you with editing rights. This includes conceptualized, authored and implemented
LdS. To make it simple, here you'll find all the LdS you can edit.

2. Browse LdS: Here you will find a detailed list of all the LdS available for you in this site. You
can discover and reuse the LdDs that other LdShakers have made available.
LdShakers: All the LdShakers are listed in this section. Here you can manage your groups of
contacts, which you will use to share your LdS. Visiting the profile of an LdShaker will allow you
to see the solutions she has created and is sharing with you.
Private Messaging: Clicking on the envelope you see in your top bar allows you to read and
send private messages to other LdShakers.
Conceptualize an LdS
An LdS created with the tools under the "Conceptualize menu" consists of one or more
documents. By default, the newly created LdS come with two documents: the "Main
Document" (which follows a template according to the specific tool selected: Course Map,
Persona, Design Pattern, Desing Narrative, Persona Card, Factors and Concerns,
CompediumLD, ...) and the Support Document, where you can give indications on
the usage of these LdS. You can add, rename and remove documents using the
tabs you find under the editor.
The editor allows you to insert different kinds of media to your LdS. As you can see in this
LdS, images and links can be added, as well as any kind of embeddable content you find
on the Internet (YouTube vides, SlideShare slides, etc.)
3. Author an LdS
Under the "Author menu" you can create LdS that are ready to use with learners. Several tools
are supported, such WebCollage, OpenGLM... Each LdS consists of one or more documents.
By default, the newly created LdS come with two documents: the "Main Document" (fodirect
edition or upload depending on the selected authoring tool) and a plain-text Support
Document, where you can write additional information about the LdS (e.g., indications
for the teacher, evaluation criteria, etc.).
Implement an LdS
Finally in the "Implement Menu" you can: register a new "Virtual Learning Environment", see
what VLE you have registered or are available to use in "See your VLE",and implement a
design into one of your VLE registered using the "Select a design to implement in a VLE
through GLUEPS".
What else can we do with an LdS?
Tagging LdS
If you want to make your LdS easily
searchable and discoverable, we strongly
engourage you to tag it. You have tree kinds
of tags: Discipline, Pedagogical Approach
and Free tags.
Sharing LdS
After you create an LdS you can decide who
to share it with. You can specify which rights
to assign to each LdShaker: editing it or just
reading it and allowing comments. If you've
created any groups beforehand, you can
share your LdS directly with your groups by
4. typing their name.
Publishing LdS
If you'd like to make available the
"conceptualized LdS" you create in LdShake
even for users which are not registered here
(for example, your students), you can publish
any of the LdS you have created. Just share
the resulting URL with anyone you like!
Exporting LdS
Sometimes it's interesting to grab a copy of
our work and put it safely in our pen drive just
in case we're going to spend some time out of
Internet connection. LdShake allows you to
save the "conceptualized LdS" in PDF format
– keeping the same layout you see in
LdShake! Why don't you try it with this one?
