3. Grade: III Sub: Mathematics Topic: Revision of Multiplication Month: August Week: 4th week No of sessions: 3
General Objectives:
1. Students will demonstrate their understanding of multiplication concepts and develop proficiency in solving multiplication problems.
2. This lesson plan incorporates Bloom's Taxonomy to engage students in various cognitive processes, such as remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing,
evaluating, and creating.
Specific Objectives:
1. Understand the concept of multiplication and its relationship with addition.
2. Master the multiplication facts up to 12.
3. Develop mental calculation skills for multiplication.
4. Apply multiplication in problem-solving situations.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Understanding the concept of multiplication: Students should be able to understand that multiplication is a mathematical operation that combines equal groups or sets
to find the total quantity or product.
2. Memorizing multiplication facts: Students should memorize and recall multiplication facts up to a certain range (e.g., up to 12x12) to facilitate mental calculations
and solve problems efficiently.
3. Applying multiplication in real-life situations: Students should be able to identify and solve real-life problems that require multiplication, such as calculating the total
cost of multiple items.
4. Session: 1
Duration: 40 mins
Initiation ( 1 0 mins):
1. Begin with a quick mental math warm-up. Provide the students with simple multiplication problems (e.g., 3
x 4, 5 x 2) and ask them to solve them mentally.
2. Encourage students to share their answers aloud and explain their thinking.
Exploration (25s min):
1. Demonstrate the process of multiplying three-digit numbers by one-digit numbers using the traditional
vertical method. Use a few examples and involve students in the process.
2. Introduce multiplication facts up to 12. Use flashcards or a multiplication chart to show the relationships
between numbers.
3. Practice multiplication facts together as a class. Use the flashcards or chart and ask students to provide the
answers quickly. Repeat until students gain confidence.
4. Provide worksheets with multiplication problems for students to practice individually. Circulate around the
room to provide assistance as needed.
5. For advanced students, challenge them with higher-level multiplication problems or ask them to solve
mentally without using paper and pencil.
Reinforcement (5 mins):
If students will be able to solve the worksheets positive reinforcement will be given like clapping, writing their names
on the board, drawing stars on their notebooks to motivate them more.
Teaching Aids/Reminders:
Whiteboard or chalkboard
Markers or chalk
Multiplication flashcards or chart
Worksheets for practice
Pencils and erasers
Timer or stopwatch (optional)
Home work:
Practice ex 5.1 to 5.6 for class test.
5. Session:2
Duration: 40 mins
Initiation (10 mins):
1. Revision of the concept and doubt session.
2. Open book form test will be taken by providing MCQ type questions on the board and students will find the
various solved examples from book and accordingly will answer the MCQ given in the test based on these
examples.
3. Real life-based questions will be asked in oral from on the multiplication concept to check their depth of the
knowledge.
Exploration (25 mins):
1. Evaluation part will be done to check student command over the multiplication concept.
2. Assessment will also be done on oral question asked in the class.
Reinforcement (5 mins):
If students will be able to solve the MCQ or given the answer of the question asked than positive reinforcement will be
given like clapping, writing their names on the board, drawing stars on their notebooks to motivate them more.
Teaching Aids/Reminders:
Whiteboard or chalkboard
Markers or chalk
Multiplication flashcards or chart
Worksheets for practice
Pencils and erasers
Timer or stopwatch (optional)
Home work:
Practice Ex 5.7 – Ex 5.12 for class test.
6. Session:3
Duration: 40 mins
Initiation (15 mins):
1. Revision of the concept and doubt session.
2. Subjective test will be given to the students for evaluation of their understanding.
Exploration (20 mins):
1. Students will be assessed on their test and their level of understanding will be checked and if needed gap
session will be taken for more concept clearance.
Reinforcement (5mins):
1. Student who will outperform the test will be consider as Masters of the concept and this title will be used for them
for more good results.
2. Students with average or below average marks will also be motivated by performing multiplication activity to
make them feel they know the concept with little more efforts they will also get good score.
Teaching Aids/Reminders:
Whiteboard or chalkboard
Markers or chalk
Multiplication flashcards or chart
Worksheets for practice
Pencils and erasers
Timer or stopwatch (optional)
Home work:
Revision of the chapter 5 multiplication for term
1 and utilization of the concept in their daily-to-
daily life activities where they can apply it.
