Preliminaries & Preparation: Key members from Ignite It Group and the organization review course requirements and assign the project to the appropriate team members. 2) Learning Design Brief: The Ignite It Group team works with Subject Matter Experts (SME) from the client’s site to identify their target audience, learning objectives, event characteristics, timelines & budgets. We round out the strategy by including a marketing roll-out plan focused on gaining audience awareness and promoting the training. 3) High-level Design: A schematic outline is created for the course to define the modules and associated lessons, determine content delivery methods such as the interactive online learning environment and tactile components, and to arbitrate scheduling and timing, material requirements and role assignments. Budgets are finalized based on the approved High-level Design. 4) Development: The Ignite It Group team uses a variety of development tools, including: a. Adobe CS3 graphic software to create custom flash activities, classroom posters, and course images b. Articulate (Presenter, Quizmaker and Engage) for Power Point conversion and online deployment c. Studio-created custom audio d. Video e. Translation services to convert all course content for use in multiple languages f. SME review process 5) Pilot: Ignite It Group recommends running a pilot of the course to a sample audience before finalizing the course file package. 6) After-action Review & Implementation: After the pilot, the team follows an after action review that addresses the following points: a. What did we set out to do? b. What did we actually do? c. What did we learn? d. What will we change? From the results of the after-action review, the team creates a task list for finalization and creates a materials packet. Typical deliverables are: Elearning deliverables: SCORM compliant package for upload into your Learning Management System Preliminary materials (e.g., course invitation) Logistics Guide Course evaluation Source files Face to face deliverables: Presentation files Preliminary materials (e.g., course invitation) Logistics Guide Timing Guide Facilitator Guide Participant Guide Printable files for handouts and posters Source files
Engaging Learning can mean many things to different people and because we are bombarded with various elements of media throughout the day – whether it’s photos, videos, animations, narration, sound FX, music, graphics, delivered on an array of electronic systems – television, blue ray, podcasting, internet, PDA’s, radio, etc. – many learning audiences expect to be “entertained” through their educational experience. People learn in a variety of ways. Some retain more information from hearing the material, some by seeing the material, and others by actively participating in the education process. Ignite It Group develops training curriculum that engages each of these, making use of both sides of the brain. This maximizes the experience for the student and reduces the need for retraining. 1) Preliminaries: Communicate to future and expected participants through elements such as the course invitation and course roll out plan, which are intended to stimulate interest and provide all required logistical information needed to fully prepare for participation. 2) Welcome: Set the stage for a successful learning event. This part of the cycle fully prepares the participants for the event by addressing all current issues, encouraging the participants to be both physically and mentally ready for the event and clarify any questions or misunderstandings that might be present. 3) Overview: Present the objectives, agenda, and the desired end result for the learning event. 4) Discovery: Motivate participants by actively engaging them in an activity to determine “what’s in it for me”. 5) Activation: Challenge participants to use and practice the learning that was previously discovered. 6) Reflection: Provide participants with the opportunity to process and embed what they’ve learned through a relaxed, free-thinking activity. 7) Integration: Participants demonstrate what they’ve learned. 8) Celebration: Recognize the participant’s success.
