For many organizations, which initially adopted FME for basic format conversion, data extraction, and transformation tasks, its use has evolved to include systems integrations and even to creating ready-to-use solutions that include data, analytics, and web applications. We will show examples of FME Desktop and FME Server applications for systems integrations, including CAD to GIS conversion and integration between ESRI ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and Microsoft SQL Spatial. We will also demonstrate self-serving apps on FME Server.

In an effort to speed the process of entering proposed developer infrastructure into it's geospatial database, the City of Henderson Department of Utility Services recently began requiring civil engineering designs to be submitted electronically using CAD files following newly developed CAD standards. The City teamed with Consortech to create an FME Workbench to automate validation processing and generate a report to let users know how well the CAD file adheres to the City standards. This presentation will show the results of this FME automated CAD validation project.
Automated Bulk Conversion of 250,000+ CAD and Corresponding Raster Files to PDF
This document describes how an utility company with over 250,000 CAD files converted those files and their associated raster files to PDF format for improved accessibility and use in the field. FME was used to automate the bulk conversion process. Workspaces were created to copy files to a temp directory, merge files, and generate individual PDFs for each CAD file along with any borders or rasters. The process was run on an FME Server with 10 engines to improve performance. A long-term automated solution was also configured to run hourly and only process new or modified files.

FME is typically used to exchange data, but it can also be used as a powerful tool to automate the transformation of spatial data into technical CAD diagrams. In this presentation I will show how I embedded FME into an application process to create on-the-fly AutoCAD diagrams for communication manholes. This involves determining the local spatial reference, calculating the extents required, clipping the data, creating labels for the data, filtering the data to set line colors and styles, and then exporting the file using linked workspaces.
MicroStation DGN: How to Integrate CAD and GIS
This document discusses converting CAD data to GIS formats and some of the challenges involved. It describes problems with representing parcel/block boundaries and attributes when converting CAD data to GIS and shows the workflow and outputs. It also details issues with converting elevation points and lines from CAD formats where the elevation is stored as text not linked to the features. Before this solution, our DWG files were stored using their respective project number as their names; management noticed that drafters were working on areas where we had previously worked, but instead of reusing the latest DWG files, they were drafting the project from scratch, resulting in a non-optimized workflow.

MCE GeoProcessing Services for ADM(IE): Self Validation of Spatial Data Input...
The Department of National Defence (DND) is developing a central repository for land, building, and infrastructure data. This a joint project between the Assistant Deputy Minister Infrastructure and Environment (ADMIE) and the Mapping and Charting Establishment (MCE). This project involves managing DND real property and other spatial data provided by DND bases and wings across Canada through a unique, integrated and standardized Real Property Spatial Data Warehouse (RPSDW), hosted at MCE, containing a SQL Server database. Data provided by DND bases and wings must meet standards defined and documented by ADMIE, in terms of data formats accepted (GeoMedia MDB, ArcGIS FGDB, MapInfo MIF or AutoCAD SDF), geometry, schema and attribute data types, domains and accepted values for each feature class. An FME workspace and an equivalent tool contained within an ArcGIS Data Interoperability Toolbox were created to provide the geotechs from DND Bases using ArcGIS Data Interoperability or FME Desktop with a toolset, delivered together with a user’s guide, that allows them to perform a self-validation of the DND real property and other spatial data before these data is sent to MCE to be loaded into the RPSDW SQL Server database.

The Department of National Defence (DND) is developing a central repository for land, building, and infrastructure data. This a joint project between the Assistant Deputy Minister Infrastructure and Environment (ADMIE) and the Mapping and Charting Establishment (MCE). This project involves managing DND real property and other spatial data provided by DND bases and wings across Canada through a unique, integrated and standardized Real Property Spatial Data Warehouse (RPSDW), hosted at MCE, containing a SQL Server database. Data provided by DND bases and wings must meet standards defined and documented by ADMIE, in terms of data formats accepted (GeoMedia MDB, ArcGIS FGDB, MapInfo MIF or AutoCAD SDF), geometry, schema and attribute data types, domains and accepted values for each feature class. An FME workspace and an equivalent tool contained within an ArcGIS Data Interoperability Toolbox were created to provide the geotechs from DND Bases using ArcGIS Data Interoperability or FME Desktop with a toolset, delivered together with a user’s guide, that allows them to perform a self-validation of the DND real property and other spatial data before these data is sent to MCE to be loaded into the RPSDW SQL Server database.

The European Space Agency, together with industry, has lead an analysis into the issues faced by spacecraft software developers now and in the future, considering several aspects as for example raising complexity of the software, shorter development life cycles, etc. The analysis resulted in the development of an On-board Software Reference Architecture (OSRA) founded on the principles of component-based software engineering (CBSE) and strong separation of concerns.
A dedicated Domain Specific Language for the component model was developed, called Space Component Model (SCM), to allow the precise definition with clear semantical meaning, in particular considering the domain specific elements like observability and commandability of spacecrafts via Telemetry and Telecommand. The SCM was implemented as a meta-model in ecore. The R&D activity that have developed the OSRA and the SCM have also prototyped a graphical editor to experiment and test the complete approach, from modelling down to code generation for the target.
The original prototype of the graphical editor was based on Eclipse and Obeo Designer, which allowed very quick and simple prototyping of a graphical editor. Following the R&D activities, it was clear that an improved version of the editor, in terms of usability, is needed. An improvement activity has been started with Obeo, using now the open source version of Obeo Designer, namely Sirius. The intention was also to push Obeo's technology further to evaluate it for applicability in a commercial tool.
This talk will give a brief overview of the challenges of spacecraft software development, the needs for a graphical editor, present the results of the improvement activity, show the benefits of the Eclipse and Sirius frameworks and provide an overall evaluation.

As artificial intelligence inference transitions from cloud environments to edge locations, computer vision applications achieve heightened responsiveness, reliability and privacy. This migration, however, introduces the challenge of operating within the stringent confines of resource constraints typical at the edge, including small form factors, low energy budgets and diminished memory and computational capacities. Axelera AI addresses these challenges through an innovative approach of performing digital computations within memory itself. This technique facilitates the realization of high-performance, energy-efficient and cost-effective computer vision capabilities at the thin and thick edge, extending the frontier of what is achievable with current technologies.

Mutation Testing for Task-Oriented Chatbots
Conversational agents, or chatbots, are increasingly used to access all sorts of services using natural language. While open-domain chatbots - like ChatGPT - can converse on any topic, task-oriented chatbots - the focus of this paper - are designed for specific tasks, like booking a flight, obtaining customer support, or setting an appointment. Like any other software, task-oriented chatbots need to be properly tested, usually by defining and executing test scenarios (i.e., sequences of user-chatbot interactions). However, there is currently a lack of methods to quantify the completeness and strength of such test scenarios, which can lead to low-quality tests, and hence to buggy chatbots.
To fill this gap, we propose adapting mutation testing (MuT) for task-oriented chatbots. To this end, we introduce a set of mutation operators that emulate faults in chatbot designs, an architecture that enables MuT on chatbots built using heterogeneous technologies, and a practical realisation as an Eclipse plugin. Moreover, we evaluate the applicability, effectiveness and efficiency of our approach on open-source chatbots, with promising results.
