Oxford Brookes University and racing car manufacturer Dallara are collaborating on developing a new affordable electric race car. The Formula Club-E Development Project aims to give enthusiasts experience with electric racing and is now midway through its planned four year timeline. Over 100 postgraduate students from OBU's mechanical engineering program will contribute over 60,000 hours to the project, gaining experience designing every aspect of the vehicle under the guidance of Dallara experts. The project seeks additional partners to help finalize development of this entry-level electric race car and make electric vehicle racing more accessible.

Plugging the gap
In 2014, Dallara approached
OBU’s Department of
Mechanical Engineering and
Mathematical Sciences with
the idea of developing a more
affordable electric racing vehicle.
OBU accepted the challenge
and began one of its most
ambitious ventures: the Formula
Club-E Development Project.

opportunity for the students,
and crucially prepares them for
employment.
More than a concept
The project still has some
questions to be answered and
components to be finalised.
As emerging technologies can
now be rapidly simulated and
evaluated, the team is actively
looking for partners to help
contribute to the project.
