 IES is a three – tier exam which includes :
 IES Preliminary / Stage 1
 IES Mains / Stage 2
 Personality Test
 IES 2017 Prelims result was declared on February 23, 2017.
IES Mains 2017 to be held on May 14, 2017.
 Candidates who qualify the Prelims and Mains with the minimum
qualifying marks will be called for Personality Test/Interview.

4. IES MAINS 2017 ELIGIBILITY
Candidate must have qualified IES 2017 PRELIMS
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.E.
/ B. Tech) from a recognized university or equivalent
M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communications,
Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as special
subjects (acceptable for certain services / posts only)

 IES Mains consists of 2 conventional type papers - Paper 1 and paper 2.

6. IES MAINS 2017
PREPARATION TIPS
 Prepare short-term study plans and try to execute them. They will
help you attain you long term goal.
 Make separate lists of formulae for each subject and revised daily.
 Practice mock test papers comprising of all the sections, in the
stipulated time.
 Use short and simple techniques for numerical solving instead of
traditional methods. They are easy to recall.

7. IES MAINS 2017 RESULT
 Engineering Services Examination Mains result will be declared as a PDF
file which will be uploaded on the official website of UPSC.
The file will contain the list of the candidates who qualify for the third
stage of IES Examination 2017 i.e. Personality Test.
 To be eligible to go for Interview Session candidate will be required to
qualify to the cut off set by commission.
 It is very important to attempt both the sections of mains examination
correctly to make it to the cut off mark which will be set by UPSC.

8. IES MAINS 2017
PERSONALITY TEST
 Candidates who qualify both the written tests will be called for the
Personality Test.
 Personality test/ interview will be of 200 marks.
 Marks obtained in the Preliminary Exam, Mains and Personality
Test/Interview combined will determine the final recruitment of a
candidate.
 Candidates will be marked upon Initiative and intellectual curiosity, Tact
and other social qualities, Powers of practical application and Integrity of
character.

9. IES 2017 SELECTION PROCESS
 IES selection Procedure comprises of the following 2 stages:
 IES Written Exam
 IES Personality Test (Interview)
 After the declaration IES Result, successful candidates would be asked to
submit the Detailed Application Form (DAF) online.
 Document verification and eligibility of the candidate will be checked
thoroughly after the candidate has cleared the personality test.
As per the IES Selection Procedure 2017, the final appointment offer will
be granted to the selected aspirants after the declaration of the IES final
result.
