MIT's Plasma Science and Fusion Center (PSFC) faced relentless growth in unstructured data from its research that needed efficient and affordable storage. Its existing RAID storage arrays resulted in lengthy rebuild times when disks failed. PSFC implemented Exablox's OneBlox object-based storage solution less than a year ago. The solution provides scalable storage without RAID, faster rebuild times, and easy management. While benefits are still being quantified, PSFC expects increased cost savings and reduced administration time over its previous system.
