Towards a distributed framework to analyze multimodal data.pdf

This paper proposes a comparison of three machine learning algorithms for a better intelligent irrigation system based on internet of things (IoT) for differents products. This work's major contribution is to specify the most accurate algorithm among the three machine learning algorithms (k-nearest neighbors (KNN), support vector machine (SVM), artificial neural network (ANN)). This is achieved by collecting irrigation data of a specific products and split it into training data and test data then compare the accuracy of the three algorithms. To evaluate the performance of our algorithm we built a system of IoT devices. The temperature and humidity sensors are installed in the field interact with the Arduino microcontroller. The Arduino is connected to Raspberry Pi3, which holds the machine learning algorithm. It turned out to be ANN algorithm is the most accurate for such system of irrigation. The ANN algorithm is the best choice for an intelligent system to minimize water loss for some products.

This presentation discusses how we used complex event processing (CEP) and MapReduce based technologies to track and process data from a soccer match as part of the annual DEBS event processing challenge. In 2013, the challenge included a data set generated by a real soccer match in which sensors were placed in the soccer ball and players’ shoes. This session will review how we used CEP to implement DESB challenge and achieved throughput in excess of 100,000 events/sec. It also will examine how we extended the solution to conduct batch processing using business activity monitoring (BAM) using the same framework, enabling users to obtain both instant analytics as well as more detailed batch processing based results.

The Capacity Monitor is being developed as part of Project JARVIS to monitor the usage status of machines in a shop in real-time. It uses multiple sensors attached to each machine to determine if it is running or not. When completed, it will be able to swap between different sensor types depending on the machine. The monitor collects data from the sensors periodically and uploads it to a file or website upon receiving an external command, then deletes the old file. This will provide real-time information on machine capacity across the entire facility.

In regards to part 1 of this assessment, please read the following instructions carefully so that you can submit your program for marking succesfully.
You must setup your program so that it connects to a MYSQL database named "grading_db", running on "localhost".
The username must be "grader" and "abc" (user name/password).
The first thing your program must do is to crate the tables in this database.
You can either provide a button that I click on for this to happen (if you are building a GUI), a text-menu option, or to just do this on startup (my preferred option).
Of course, if you choose the latter, you will get extra mark if your program first checks that the table(s) already exist so that you don't destroy existing data.
Then, provide menu options for inserting records, and searching.
The search results should show the student's marks, and also display the calculated total final score (the formula for this in the assignment description in
the subject outline).
TASK 2
Here's some clarification on what is expected for Task 2.
* I imagine 4 cars, implemented a threaded classes (implementing Runnable), running in a pool.
* Each contains a speed instance variable.
* On the keyboard, I assign two keys for each car, one for acceleration and one for deceleration.
For example, if I press "q", the speed of car 1 will go up by 1, and if I press "w", the speed of car 1 will go down by 1.
* Each threaded car will listen for key presses independently. This can be done using a KeyListener to capture key events.
* To graphically display the car speeds, I suppose something like a bar graph would be acceptable, with the text speed indicators somewhere in the same jPanel.
There is no single way to do this. Think about your GUI skills (current and desired) and imagination, and create a graphical representation.
This could be a simple bar graph, or a race course-style visualisation with animation and visual effects.

Getting started with Splunk
Splunk Enterprise is a platform for operational intelligence that collects and indexes machine data from any source in real time. It allows users to search, monitor, analyze and visualize data to gain insights. Splunk can be used for troubleshooting, security investigations, network monitoring, compliance reporting and business analytics. It collects data from applications, servers, networks, systems and other sources. Data is indexed and searched using indexing and search services. Splunk includes components like indexers, forwarders and a web interface for searching and visualizing data.
Sample - Extending IBM i2 Analysis with G2 Research
This document demonstrates how tracking data from GPS tags and other sources can be analyzed in ICU Workbench and integrated into IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook to assist an investigation. ICU Workbench identified unusual patterns in a person of interest's movements. When this data was exported to i2, it revealed connections between individuals that helped uncover a relationship involving bribery between a criminal gang and a court official. Analyzing tracking data in this integrated way provided valuable intelligence that helped resolve the case.

Case Study - Waterloo Regional Police
The Waterloo Regional Police Service used to have an investigator spend full time manually analyzing location data from tracking devices and cell phones to generate reports on suspects' patterns of movement and activities. This was a time-consuming process. The police service purchased ICU Workbench software, which automatically analyzes location data and generates pattern of life reports. This new process provides deeper insights into suspects' behaviors more quickly. It allows the investigator previously dedicated to data analysis to return to field work, while gaining more powerful intelligence. The new software has significantly reduced the time needed to analyze location data and freed up resources for more optimal use.
Military - Overview
G2 Research provides software to defense, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies to analyze location-based surveillance data and extract actionable intelligence. Their software can summarize over 80,000 location fixes from 51 days of tracking data into a visual representation in under 2 minutes. This helps analysts who currently spend most of their time on data collection and only 20% of their time creating intelligence. The software also enables predictions of targets' patterns of life and identification of networks and locations of interest to improve mission planning and coordination of surveillance teams.
Law Enforcement - Overview
This document discusses how analyzing location data from GPS devices, calls, social media, and other sources can provide critical intelligence to save lives, improve mission planning, and reduce costs. It describes how a software tool can convert hundreds of thousands of data points into actionable intelligence like patterns of life, call detail analysis, comparisons of entities, multi-target analysis, and predictions. This intelligence enables force multiplication, faster access to information, increased value of surveillance investments, and safety for agents.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain.
