Analog Devices (USA) Acquires HDMI Business from INVECAS, Expanding High
Performance Audiovisual Capabilities
Analog Devices, Inc. announced that it has acquired the High Definition Multimedia
Interface business of INVECAS, a Santa Clara based company specializing in
embedded software and system level solutions. This addition will provide ADI with
complete audio and video solutions to meet the growing needs of enterprise and
consumer markets. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.Through
this acquisition, ADI will also increase the company’s role in the standards body
representing HDMI – which helps shape the future of all HDMI connected
technologies, such as HDMI 2.1 feature sets and lower power consumption. In
addition, ADI will incorporate certification and compliance capabilities, ensuring
support for customers throughout their HDMI development cycles, from concept to
pre-compliance and release. As the industry continues to grow and HDMI 2.1 is
rolled out, applications such as 8K and 10K video, enhanced audio return, variable
refresh rate and more will become commonplace. Additionally, this will allow for
greater adoption of these technologies, with ADI expanding offerings to a wider
audience with broader feature sets and lower power consumption.

• GAAP gross margin of 63.7%, compared to GAAP gross margin of 64.7% in

Highlights
• Sales of $6.61 billion, a decrease of 10 percent from sales of $7.34 billion in the
second quarter of 2019. Second-quarter sales, as adjusted, decreased 8 percent year
over year.
• Second-quarter net income of $133 million, or $1.68 per share on a diluted basis,
compared with a net loss of $(549) million, or $(6.48) per share on a diluted basis, in
the second quarter of 2019.
• Excluding certain items, net income, as adjusted, was $126 million, or $1.59 per
share on a diluted basis, in the second quarter of 2020, compared with net income, as
adjusted, of $137 million, or $1.60 per share on a diluted basis, in the second quarter of
2019.
• Global components second-quarter sales of $4.72 billion decreased 10 percent year

Autodesk, Inc. announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Pype, a
provider of cloud-based solutions for automating construction project management
workflows. The acquisition will empower general contractors, subcontractors and
owners to gain even more value from Autodesk Construction Cloud by automating
critical construction workflows such as submittals and closeouts to increase
productivity and mitigate project risk.Pype’s suite of software reduces tedious
manual entry and human error that can lead to rework, cost overruns and schedule
delays on construction projects. The company’s technology leverages artificial
intelligence and machine learning to automatically analyze and extract critical
construction data such as project plans and specifications to be used throughout the
project lifecycle. By automating these traditional manual workflows and converting
real-time data into actionable insights, construction teams have the power to increase
collaboration and project efficiency. Pype customers include top general contractors
such as Barton Malow, JE Dunn, McCarthy, Mortenson and Skanska, among
others.Since 2017, Autodesk has invested in nine construction technology startups.

around EUR 30mn to a real estate fund managed by Catalyst Capital LLP.
The fund has utilized the proceeds for the acquisition of the LEED Gold
certified office building “Arnulfstr. 199” in Munich. pbb acted as arranger

Ended June 28, 2020
Highlights for the June 2020 quarter were as follows:
• Revenue of $2.79 billion.
• U.S. GAAP gross margin of 45.9%, U.S. GAAP operating income as a percentage of revenue of
27.1%, and U.S. GAAP diluted EPS of $4.73.
• Non-GAAP gross margin of 46.1%, non-GAAP operating income as a percentage of revenue of
28.5%, and non-GAAP diluted EPS of $4.78.
U.S. GAAP Financial Results
• For the June 2020 quarter, revenue was $2,792 million, gross margin was $1,280 million, or 45.9%
of revenue, operating expenses were $525 million, operating income was 27.1% of revenue
• net income was $697 million, or $4.73 per diluted share on a U.S. GAAP basis. This compares to
revenue of $2,504 million, gross margin of $1,167 million, or 46.6% of revenue
• operating expenses of $473 million, operating income of 27.7% of revenue, and net income of $575
million, or $3.88 per diluted share, for the quarter ended March 29, 2020.
Non-GAAP Financial Results
• For the June 2020 quarter, non-GAAP gross margin was $1,288 million, or 46.1% of revenue,
non-GAAP operating expenses were $493 million, non-GAAP operating income was 28.5% of
revenue
• non-GAAP net income was $704 million, or $4.78 per diluted share. This compares to non-GAAP
gross margin of $1,160 million, or 46.3% of revenue
• non-GAAP operating expenses of $486 million, non-GAAP operating income of 26.9% of revenue,
and non-GAAP net income of $590 million, or $3.98 per diluted share, for the March 2020 quarter.

LG Display (South Korea) Reports Second Quarter 2020 Results
Highlights
• Revenues in the second quarter of 2020 increased by 12% to KRW 5,307
billion from KRW 4,724 billion in the first quarter of 2020 and decreased by 1%
from KRW 5,353 billion in the second quarter of 2019.
• Operating loss in the second quarter of 2020 recorded KRW 517 billion. This
compares with the operating loss of KRW 362 billion in the first quarter of 2020
and the operating loss of KRW 369 billion in the second quarter of 2019.
• EBITDA in the second quarter of 2020 was KRW 413 billion, compared with
EBITDA of KRW 630 billion in the first quarter of 2020 and with EBITDA of
KRW 458 billion in the second quarter of 2019.
• Net loss in the second quarter of 2020 was KRW 504 billion, compared with
the net loss of KRW 199 billion in the first quarter of 2020 and the net loss of
KRW 550 billion in the second quarter of 2019.
• LG Display recorded 190% in the liability-to-equity ratio, 88% in the current
ratio, and 91% in the net debt-to-equity ratio as of June 30, 2020.

macroeconomic environment is still not favorable. However, we observe that

Lg (South Korea) Announces Second-Quarter 2020 Financial Results
Highlights
• Consolidated revenue of KRW 12.83 trillion was 17.9 percent lower than the same period of 2019, while operating profit of KRW 495.4 billion declined 24.1 percent from last
year’s record second-quarter operating income.
• The LG Home Appliance & Air Solution Company reported revenues of KRW 5.16 trillion in the second quarter, down 15.5 percent from the second quarter of 2019, due to the
effect of softer global demand during the pandemic. Operating income of KRW 628 billion declined 12.5 percent year-on-year even though operating profit margin of 12.2 percent
was the highest second quarter in the history of the LG H&A Company. Looking ahead, the LG H&A Company is buoyed by increasing consumer interest in healthier living.
• The LG Home Entertainment Company’s second-quarter revenues and profitability were impacted by lockdown measures including closures of retail stores. Sales were KRW 2.26
trillion, a decline of 24.4 percent from the second quarter of 2019, and operating income of KRW 112.8 billionwas 25.9 percent lower. In addition to continuing to reduce material
costs, the LG HE Company is aggressively controlling marketing investments, increasing the proportion of premium TV products, expanding online sales and further optimizing
operating efficiencies to bring profitability in line with last year.
• The LG Mobile Communications Company posted second-quarter sales of KRW 1.31 trillion, a 31.1 percent increase from the first quarter. The significant improvement is due in
part to the beginning of markets opening after lockdown. The operating loss of KRW 206.5 billion narrowed compared to both the second quarter of 2019 and the first quarter of
2020 as a result of improved marketing efficiencies and greater cost controls. The global rollout of LG VELVET in the third quarter along with the launch of new attractively-priced
models are expected to create momentum for LG branded smartphones, growing both sales and profitability.
• The LG Vehicle Component Solutions Company recorded quarterly revenues of KRW 912.2 billion, a 40 percent decline from the same quarter last year, and an operating loss of
KRW 202.5 billion as a result of pandemic-related manufacturing shutdowns of global automakers. Demand for auto parts is expected to gradually recover as major automakers
resume operations.

RELX (UK) Interim Results 2020
Highlights
• Revenue £3,501m (£3,888m) -10%: Our three largest business areas, STM, Risk & Business Analytics
and Legal, which together accounted for 84% of revenue and 87% of adjusted operating profit in full year
2019, reported combined first half revenue of £3,300m.
• The Exhibitions business, which accounted for 16% of revenue and 13% of adjusted operating profit in
full year 2019, was significantly impacted by COVID-19 in the first half of 2020, with revenue of £201m
(£684m). Given the extent of event postponements and cancellations, underlying measures are not
meaningful for Exhibitions, and hence not for the group as a whole
• Adjusted operating profit £939m (£1,240m) -24%: Our three largest business areas reported combined
first half adjusted operating profit of £1,056m (£1,009m) with all three delivering underlying growth.
Exhibitions moved into a loss for the first half of £117m.
• Reported operating profit £747m (£1,048m) -29%: Reported operating profit includes amortization of
acquired intangible assets of £164m (£147m) and acquisition-related costs of £26m.
• Interest and tax: Adjusted net interest expense was £81m (£97m) with the reduction reflecting lower
average interest rates on borrowings. The adjusted tax charge was £151m (£248m) giving an adjusted

Highlights
• Total revenue of €1,889 million grew 13% Y/Y in Q2. Consolidated revenue was roughly in line with expectations. Premium revenue grew 17% Y/Y to €1,758
million, and performed in line with our forecast.
• Within Premium, average revenue per user of €4.41 in Q2 was down 9% Y/Y. The reduction in revenue resulting from the change in prior period estimates mentioned
above accounted for another 1% drag. Product mix was the dominant driver accounting for most of this decline.
• Gross Margin finished at 25.4% in Q2 which both exceeded our expectations and finished above the high end of our guidance range. Gross Margin in the quarter was
impacted by several “one-time” adjustments that when netted out, did benefit GM by 50 bps.
• Premium Gross Margin was 28.1% in Q2, down slightly from 28.3% in Q1, and up 60 bps Y/Y. Ad-Supported Gross Margin was (11.9) % in Q2, down from (6.6) %
in Q1 and down 2,478 bps Y/Y. As a reminder, we now account for all content costs related to podcast investment in the Ad-Supported business.
• Operating expenses totaled €646 million in Q2, an increase of 48% from Q2’19 and well above forecast. Core operating expenses grew slightly less than expected as
certain marketing expenditures have been pushed to later in the year.
• Total Free Cash Flow was €27 million in Q2, a €23 million decrease Y/Y principally related to an increase in net loss adjusted for non-cash items, partially offset by
favorable working capital movements and lower cash outflow for PP&E related to office build-outs. We maintain positive working capital dynamics overall and
continue to expect that we will deliver positive Free Cash Flow for the year.

Schottky barrier diodes embedded into the MOSFET realize a structure that improves reliability more than 10 times compared to
Toshiba’s typical structure while suppressing any rise in on-resistance. Power devices are essential components of reducing power
consumption in vehicles and industrial and other electrical equipment. Silicon carbide is widely anticipated as a next generation
material for power devices, as it realizes higher voltages and lower loss than silicon. SiC power devices are now mainly utilized in
inverters for trains, but wider application is on the horizon, including in photovoltaic power systems and power management systems
for industrial equipment. The use and market growth of SiC devices have been held back by reliability issues. One of these involves
PN diodes, which are positioned between a power MOSFET’s power source and drain. Voltage applied to the PN diode energizes it
and results in a change of on-resistance that degrades device reliability. Toshiba’s new device structure, SBD-embedded MOSFET,
solves this problem. The new structure prevents energizing of the PN diode by positioning an SBD in parallel to the PN diode inside
the cell. Current flows through the embedded SBD because its on-state voltage compared is lower than that of the PN diode,
suppressing changes in on-resistance and degradation of the MOSFET’s reliability.

Bittware, just announced a Xilinx FPGA-based CSP leveraging the M.2 form-factor. This FPGA-powered CSP was designed to meet the new Open
Compute M.2 Accelerator Module standard. Within the Open Compute Project (OCP) community, infrastructure has been created to enable small
accelerators, or datacenter SSDs, using the storage M.2 form-factor to be connected to servers and peer storage devices. Together with Bittware,
we’re extending CSPs into the OCP ecosystem where Glacier point M.2 carriers can share these CSPs and SSDs amongst Yosemite modular server
nodes. By leveraging the flexibility of our adaptable devices, Bittware is showcasing workloads diversity from storage compression and encryption
from Eideticom to ML inference recommendation model acceleration from Myrtle.ai. CSPs are a way to realize the acceleration of data-intensive
functions, and when combined with the flexibility of our adaptive computing devices, they enable both a custom acceleration and a standard
platform. There is always a question on how much acceleration is needed, and with the goal of CSPs to be on the same bus as the peer storage
devices, there is a need for the form-factor of a CSP to fit in systems at the right place. For example, our Alveo™ U50 datacenter acceleration card
can take on a CSP persona when placed in an AMD server, where all of the SSDs are peers to the Alveo U50 due to AMD’s PCIe architecture. In
other platforms, a different form-factor could be needed. Bittware’s new Xilinx-based CSP is the latest example of a novel form factor and we’re
excited to help enable this new addition to the CSP landscape and the OCP hardware community. It will bring hyperscalers and cloud companies

beginning as early as late 2020. NVX-CoV2373 consists of a stable, prefusion protein made using Novavax' proprietary nanoparticle technology

NEC Technologies India, a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation, and Urban Mass Transit Company, a joint venture of the Ministry of Housing
and Urban Affairs, Government of India, has entered into an agreement to jointly develop and deliver intelligent mobility solutions in rural and urban
India. Under this agreement, NEC India and UMTC will work on transport-related system integration projects that benefit state governments, local
administrations and smart city projects around the country. The collaboration will also provide end to end solutions, including planning & development,

camera reference design to address today’s high-accuracy object detection and recognition needs for video security and surveillance systems.
Developed in collaboration with Novatek Microelectronics Corporation and designed by Systemtec Corporation Ltd, the reference design
includes a camera image sensor board with phase-detection autofocus, and a high-performance image signal processing board along with auto
focus zoom lens software. The surveillance camera reference design enables 4K resolution, excellent color imaging and better recognition
accuracy of objects, including small objects in low-light conditions. Its impressive high-speed autofocus operation can also be realized with
low-priced lenses. This features combination allows Systemtec to offer customers a high-performance 4K video security camera reference
design and software that helps shorten their development time building a camera system with fast autofocus and enhanced imaging
performance.Built around Renesas’ high performance RAA462113FYL CMOS image sensor and Novatek’s dual core SoC image signal
processor, the surveillance camera reference design uses several other Renesas ICs that address its signal chain electrical functions. The CIS
board includes the RAA462113FYL, DC/DC buck converters, LDOs, motor driver and lens. The ISP board features the SoC and associated
signal chain components.

Quantum Cryptography Communications Network

Toshiba Corporation starts research and development of a Global Quantum Cryptography Communications Network this month. The research is
commissioned and supported by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, which invited proposals for a joint research collaboration in
fiscal year 2020. The twelve participating organizations are Toshiba Corporation, NEC Corporation, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Furukawa
Electric Co., Ltd., Hamamatsu Photonics K.K., Tokyo University, Hokkaido University, Yokohama National University, Gakushuin University, the
National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Technology, and the National Institute
of Materials and Technology. Quantum key distribution is a cryptography communications technology that uses the principles of quantum mechanics
to deliver absolutely secure communications that cannot be eavesdropped. The company has some 30 years’ of experience in researching quantum
technology, dating back to the 1991 establishment of a research laboratory at Cambridge in the United Kingdom, and its achievements include realizing
the world’s fastest and furthest key distribution in a real-world environment, and transmission of whole Genome Sequence Data in a trial demonstration
in Japan. As a result, Toshiba is now carrying out field tests with partners around the world, toward realizing practical use. In the new project, MIC will
provide support for the development of technologies needed to advance the deployment of quantum cryptographic communications on the nation-wide
global scale. Over five years, to the end of fiscal year 2024, the collaborators will develop and verify essential technologies for practical use over a wide
area with a large-scale network.

Applied Materials, Inc. unveiled a major new initiative aimed at creating a more sustainable and just supply chain for semiconductor and
display manufacturing.SuCCESS2030 will optimize material and parts selection, procurement, packaging, warehousing, transportation and
recycling to reduce energy and emissions and conserve resources. The initiative also aims to promote ethics, human rights, diversity and
inclusion throughout the supply chain.
Under the SuCCESS initiative, Applied’s assessment of supplier performance and capabilities will now require the following shared
commitments:
• Reducing supply chain carbon emissions by moving to intermodal shipping that reduces the industry’s reliance on air freight, with an interim
emissions reduction target of 15% by 2024.
• Transitioning the supply chain to recycled content packaging, with a target of 80% by the end of 2023.
• 100% elimination of phosphate-based pre-treatment of metal surfaces by 2024.
• Development of a diversity and inclusion strategy that captures key metrics and meaningful actions to increase the percentage of spend with
women- and minority-owned businesses and increase the representation of women and other underrepresented groups with demonstrated
improvement by 2024. Work with our trade associations to significantly grow the pipeline of diverse talent available to the industry by 2030.
• Compliance with the Responsible Business Alliance Code of Conduct 6.0 and Applied Materials’Standards of Business Conduct and Human

FUJIFILM Holdings Corporationhas updated its environmental targets for Fiscal Year ending March 2031 to accelerate its climate change
initiatives from the approaches of “solving social issues through business activities” and “giving environmental and social considerations in
business processes.”The target to reduce Fujifilm Group’s carbon dioxide emissions across the entire product lifecycle has been raised from 30%
to 45% compared to the FY2013 level. This target has been certified as being WB2°Cby the international environmental initiative “Science Based
Targets for being scientifically based to meet the “2°C goal” of the Paris Agreement. The target to contribute to reduction in CO2 emissions in
society by providing low-emissions products and services has been raised from 50 million tons to 90 million tons. The Fujifilm Group has been

services. The products and services that would significantly reduce environmental impacts are certified as Fujifilm Group “Green Value Products.”

KYOCERA (Japan) Begins Test on Japan's First “Self-Wheeling” Energy System
Using Storage Battery in Shiga, Japan

Kyocera Corporation started testing Japan's first self-wheeling energy system, developed using a storage battery earlier this month in Shiga
Prefecture, Japan. “Self-wheeling” is a system in which a company’s self-generated electricity is supplied to its own factory or office located at a
different site using an existing electrical power grid. Kyocera constructed the 150 kW “YasuKamiya Solar Power Plant” on 2,000m2 land owned
by Yasu City in Shiga. Renewable energy generated at the site will be supplied to the Kyocera Shiga Yasu Plant, approximately two kilometers
away via the Kansai Transmission and Distribution, Inc’s electrical power grid. This is Japan’s first test using a stationary lithium-ion battery to
control the site’s power generation supply imbalance*2 and enable a stable renewable energy supply while eliminating impact on the grid. In
addition, the Supply and Demand Management Center at Kyocera’s Tokyo Office will conduct high-precision supply-demand management
operations to reduce the plant's demand imbalance.

LG Display’s (South Korea) Guangzhou OLED panel plant to start mass-production
in earnest

LG Display, the world’s leading innovator of display technologies, held a ceremony to announce the beginning of mass-production in earnest at its
8.5th generationOLED panel production plant in Guangzhou, China. LG Display is currently producing 70,000 sheets per month at its OLED panel
production plant in Paju, Korea, and this production capability will almost double to 130,000 sheets monthly when combined with Guangzhou’s
capacity to make 60,000 sheets per month. By starting full-scale mass-production at the Guangzhou OLED panel plant, LG Display now has the
two OLED panel production bases in the world including the Paju OLED panel plant. Based on these two production bases, the company is fully
prepared to further accelerate the trend of large-size OLED displays. LG Display plans to supply OLED displays to global customers in a timely
manner with full-scale mass-production at its Guangzhou OLED plant, and to actively adopt the latest technology, diversify product categories,
and strengthen collaboration with other industries to provide differentiated and premium values unique to OLED.In the process of preparing for
mass-production at the Guangzhou OLED panel plant, the COVID-19 outbreak affected its operation and there were also external factors such as
increased demand volatility. These factors delayed the full-scale mass production schedule and LG Display undertook all possible efforts to solve
these issues, including dispatching 900 core engineers by chartered flights to Guangzhou since March of this year.

Lenovo is setting ambitious goals to decrease greenhouse gas emissions throughout its operations and value chain. Lenovo is proud to have
exceeded its 2020 goalsto reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions by 40%, exceeding both the targeted reduction and deadline for completion when
emissions were reduced by 92% in 2019.Now, Lenovo has set plans to reduce its scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gases—the emissions it has the most
direct control over—by a further 50% by 2030 and has developed intensity emission targets for three key categories of our scope 3 emissions. In
order to set aggressive goals for the future and contribute to a wider body of collaborative data to understand and limit climate change, Lenovo
submitted their 2030 goals to the Science Based Targets initiative, a collaborative effort to limit the growth of climate change, led by CDP, the UN
Global Compact, World Resources Institute, and the World Wild Fund for Nature. SBTi reviewed Lenovo’s goals against their feasibility and
contribution to limiting the warming of the Earth’s surface temperature. Companies submitting science based targets for approval only need to
commit to limiting warming to well-below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels; Lenovo chose to make a more aggressive commitment
with scope 1 and 2 goals that contribute to limit warming to no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels in an effort to prevent the
worst impacts of climate change. Additionally, Lenovo’s reduction targets for scope 3 emissions meet SBTi’s criteria for ambitious value chain
goals, meaning they are in line with current best practices.
