Autodesk to Acquire AI-Powered Construction Software Provider Pype
Autodesk, Inc. announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Pype,
a provider of cloud-based solutions for automating construction project
management workflows. The acquisition will empower general contractors,
subcontractors and owners to gain even more value from Autodesk
Construction Cloud by automating critical construction workflows such as
submittals and closeouts to increase productivity and mitigate project
risk.Pype’s suite of software reduces tedious manual entry and human error
that can lead to rework, cost overruns and schedule delays on construction
projects. The company’s technology leverages artificial intelligence and
machine learning to automatically analyze and extract critical construction
data such as project plans and specifications to be used throughout the project
lifecycle. By automating these traditional manual workflows and converting
real-time data into actionable insights, construction teams have the power to
increase collaboration and project efficiency. Pype customers include top
general contractors such as Barton Malow, JE Dunn, McCarthy, Mortenson
and Skanska, among others.Since 2017, Autodesk has invested in nine
construction technology startups. The company also acquired Assemble,
BuildingConnected and PlanGrid; these three acquisitions alone total more
than $1.1 billion.

Cisco Systems and Acacia Communications Provide Status Update of Pending Acquisition
Cisco Systems, Inc. and Acacia Communications, Inc. issued a joint statement
on the status of the ongoing regulatory review for the pending acquisition of
Acacia by Cisco that is being conducted by the State Administration for
Market Regulation of the People’s Republic of China. Cisco and Acacia
remain actively engaged with SAMR and expect the acquisition to receive
regulatory clearance. In accordance with the previously announced Agreement
and Plan of Merger, closing is expected to take place no later than the third
business day following the satisfaction or waiver of the closing conditions.
Acacia previously announced that the pending acquisition had received
regulatory clearance in the United States, Germany and Austria. Regulatory
clearance from SAMR represents the only remaining closing condition set
forth in the previously announced Merger Agreement, other than customary
conditions that are to be satisfied at the time of closing. The Merger Agreement
provides for extension of closing for such regulatory approval.

Ericsson reports second quarter results 2020
Second quarter highlights
• Sales were SEK 55.6 (54.8) b. Sales adjusted for comparable units and currency were
flat YoY.
• Gross margin excluding restructuring charges improved to 38.2% (36.7%), including
the earlier communicated inventory write-down related to Mainland China (SEK -0.9
b., which equals to -1.6 percentage points).
• Operating income excluding restructuring charges improved to SEK 4.5 b. (8.2%
operating margin) from SEK 3.9 b. (7.0% operating margin) driven by improvements
in segment Digital Services.
• Networks sales increased by 4% YoY. Networks operating margin excluding
restructuring charges was 14.1% impacted by strategic contracts and the inventory
write-down, partly compensated by operational leverage and a favourable business
mix.
• Digital Services operating income excluding restructuring charges was SEK -0.7
(-1.3) b. Gross margin improved driven mainly by higher software sales while
saledeclined by -5%.
• Net income was SEK 2.6 (1.8) b.
• Free cash flow before M&A was SEK 3.2 (1.6) b. Net cash June 30, 2020, was SEK
37.5 (33.8) b.
• The Covid-19 pandemic had a limited impact on operating income and cash flow in
the quarter.
President and CEO of Ericsson said, “The human toll caused by Covid-19, directly
and indirectly through a weak economy, is increasingly clear. We continue to put
safety of our people as first priority, and more than 80% of our employees are
currently working from home. Despite the difficult environment we delivered a solid
result. Q2 organic sales were flat and gross margin [2] improved to 38.2% YoY,
including negative effects from strategic contracts. Free cash flow before M&A
improved to SEK 3.2 (1.6) b. While the effects of Covid-19 create uncertainties,
with current visibility we maintain the full-year targets for the Group.”

New DriveLock 2020.1 release includes multiple enhancements

DriveLock unveiled its new Release 2020.1 that offers a wide range of enhancements and extensions. The new features include the
DriveLock vulnerability scanner; network-enabled DriveLock pre-boot authentication with direct login via Active Directory; the
self-service portal for users, such as for password resets; and the full management of Microsoft Defender Antivirus within DriveLock.
Additional protection functions and automatic configuration options increase IT security while reducing the administrative workload, as
the system automatically learns application behaviour. Further enhancements include significantly better usability with new views,
reports and management functions in the DriveLock Operations Center. The new vulnerability scanner automatically and regularly
searches computer systems for known Windows weak spots using a database that is updated several times a day. The results it finds – such
as missing patches, obsolete software and libraries with known vulnerabilities – are then shown in the DriveLock Operations Center in a
special new view with an evaluation of each risk and its effects. This helps security teams to make a more accurate assessment of the

New Ericsson software makes the shift to Standalone 5G easier

New Ericsson software makes the shift to Standalone 5G easier. Communications service providers can now tap the full potential of 5G New Radio
technology with the commercial availability of Ericsson Standalone 5G NR software for 5G mid- and low bands. The software became globally
available to all customers in June. With this software, communications service providers can now operate 5G NR without the need for signalling support
from an underlying LTE network. This will allow service providers to add 5G NR to existing 4G sites with a simpler architecture, or deploy 5G
independently in new areas such as factories, to support enterprise applications and services. All Ericsson Radio System equipment deployed since 2015
can support Standalone 5G NR capabilities with a software installation. To date, 5G networks have been deployed in Non-standalone mode where the
underlying 4G network layer supported the necessary signalling. Standalone 5G NR removes this 4G dependency. With Standalone 5G NR, faster
network connection times, simpler mobility management and immediate access to wide 5G bands provide an even better user experience. Standalone
5G NR will enable applications that require low latency such as augmented and virtual reality, smart factories and connected vehicles. With a super-fast
response time, a Standalone 5G NR device can connect six-times faster to a Standalone 5G network than a device operating in NSA mode. This will
give the user a better experience.

Ericsson powers Vodafone UK Standalone 5G network at Coventry University

Ericsson technology is powering Vodafone UK’s just-launched Standalone 5G network at Coventry University, the first live Standalone
5G network in the UK. The Standalone 5G network will be used to trial virtual reality learning to support training for student nurses and
allied health professionals. Ericsson partnered with Qualcomm, MediaTek and OPPO to provide the network to Vodafone. Ericsson 5G
Radio Dot small cells have also been installed to provide speedy and high-capacity indoor coverage in the university’s Disruptive Media
Learning Lab and National Transport Design Centre. Standalone networks are central to the promise of 5G to reimagine society, the
economy and industries. They’re proud of what we’ve been able to achieve in partnership with Vodafone. This launch is another example
of Ericsson’s 5G technology leadership.

New Ericsson AIR solutions to accelerate 5G mid-band deployment

Hybrid AIR and Interleaved AIR are the latest additions to the Ericsson Radio System portfolio, enhancing the company’s 5G platform.
Ericsson has recognized that physical space restrictions at some base station sites are a challenge for communications service providers
wishing to extend their footprint to include 5G. The new AIR solutions directly address this issue to enable communications service
providers to manage the growing complexity of macro sites and towers while reducing site footprint and optimization costs. No extra
physical space is needed at existing sites. When deployed with Massive MIMO, communications service providers can deploy mid-band
5G with the new solutions faster and on a larger scale. With Kathrein Mobile Communication antenna technology, Hybrid AIR and
Interleaved AIR can introduce 5G mid-band to existing sites by combining antenna-integrated radios and multiband passive antenna
technology in one enclosure. A simulated calculation by Ericsson experts showed that the upgrade to Hybrid AIR or Interleaved AIR with
Massive MIMO can result in up to seven times greater mobile broadband capacity than currently available from existing multiband
antennas. The capacity gains come from improved Frequency Division Duplex spectral efficiencies, new FDD bands and added Massive
MIMO mid-bands. The new AIR solutions also boost 4G capacity.

Ericsson is now offering 5G standalone dedicated network trial kits to enable a high-performance path to Industry 4.0. Independent
research has identified significant first-mover advantages for industries that start to deploy 5G technology to optimize manufacturing
sites, factories, mines, ports, and warehouses. In smart manufacturing factories alone, ABI Research estimates that more than 4.3 billion
wireless modules will be deployed to enable more than USD 1 trillion in production value by 2030. For an automotive factory to
reconfigure for a new model year, ABI Research found that it would take one year for a wired factory compared to only two months for
a wireless factory. To enable a smooth transition to 5G for industries, Ericsson will provide dedicated network 5G standalone trial kits.
The kits will be available to enterprises through communications service providers on selected low and mid-band spectrum. The kits
include hardware and software to support a network to enable enterprises to test first-hand how 5G can enhance their productivity,
efficiency, safety, and security. Enterprises will also have access to business development and technical support to help unlock the full

chatr launched DAY PASS, a new daily payment option that lets customers get continued access to talk, text and data, when they really need it, for
a small fee. DAY PASS, a first of its kind option in Canada, gives customers an affordable and flexible way to stay connected until they’re ready
to make their full monthly top-up. DAY PASS lets customers top up on their terms for just $2 per day for Talk and Text plan customers and $3 per
day for Talk, Text and Data plan customers. The daily service plan for Talk, Text and Data customers includes unlimited Canada-wide talk &
international text and 250MB of data per day with reduced speeds thereafter. Talk and Text customers will receive Unlimited Canada-wide Talk &
International Text. Customers can continue services on a daily basis for a maximum of 30 days.In advance of its upcoming 10th anniversary this
summer, chatr also refreshed its look and prepaid market-differentiating brand promise to put customers first. Its new brand promise is centred
around giving customers more control and offering wireless services that are always on the customer’s terms. The brand’s new tagline, “Now, you
make the call”, sets the tone for what’s to come as chatr focuses on delivering increased flexibility, affordability, predictability and new ways —
such as DAY PASS — to give customers more control of the products and services that keep them connected.
