Eclampsia Is A Known Cause Of Significant Maternal And
Eclampsia is a known cause of significant maternal and fetal death secondary to pulmonary edema
and cerebrovascular hemorrhage. (1) One UK study found that of women presenting with
eclampsia, one out of 14 of the infants did not survive. (3) This word eclampsia literally means
lightning, and appropriately so considering its rapid onset and often fatal outcome. While many
women receive high quality, consistent prenatal care, many others do not. As a result, early signs of
pre eclampsia can easily be over looked. Additionally, because these same women often live a
significant distance from adequate neonatal resources, without rapid emergency intervention they
would likely have a negative outcome in the pregnancy. For this reason, it... Show more content on

(2) Therefore, for medics to effectively manage the eclamptic patient, they should understand key
signals and, ideally, the patient s past medical history. Based on data analysis of patients considered
to be at risk for developing eclampsia, those with prior pre eclampsia, chronic hypertension (HTN),
pre gestational diabetes, assisted reproductive technology, and BMI 30 were most strongly
associated with a high rate of pre eclampsia. (4) Lastly, women at both extremes of childbearing
age (young and old) are more likely to develop pre eclampsia than other parous women. These are
key factors to consider when initially evaluating a patient at greater than 20 weeks gestation with
BP of over 140/90. (2)
Should a patient be found (as described in the case above) already in an eclamptic state and
actively seizing, immediate action is required for protection of both mother and fetus. A Japanese
study specifically evaluated the air transportation of 19 women with various pregnancy
complications to determine if it could be a viable option for those patients not living near suitable
medical facilities. In fact, the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology found that using
helicopter transport not only for rapid care but also given the disparities of tertiary perinatal cares

Persuasive Essay On Noise Pollution
are being presented with a sense of urgency, we need to be concerned about the greenhouse gases
fireworks produce, which include Carbon dioxide (CO2) and ozone. In addition, Fireworks fallout
can contaminate water supplies and residue on the ground can be carried away by rain and end up
in our lakes, rivers, or oceans. Along with both these types of pollutions, Fireworks can be loud and
the vibrations can travel far which results in noise pollution. In the middle of the night fireworks
often disturb people trying to sleep. Fireworks can exceed 140 decibels and noise at 85 decibels or
above can damage hearing. Some people also argue the noise from fireworks scares pets and
wildlife like birds, etc.
For the color effect of fireworks, toxic heavy metals like barium, aluminum, lead, mercury salts,
antimony, copper, and strontium can be used in firework compositions. Outdated heavy metals that
have been used in the past include rubidium and cadmium. Some toxic elements are supposedly not
used in fireworks anymore like lead compounds, chlorates, and mercury as mercurous chloride
(calomel), but some firework chemical outlets still sell some of these ingredients.
Experimental Procedure
Many fireworks are imported from China which is scary because they have a proven track record
of cutting corners by using cheaper, more toxic materials. Some of the metals also have
radioactive isotopes. The American Fireworks Standards Laboratory (AFSL) has established a
testing and certification program for Chinese and U.S. fireworks to determine if they are being
produced according to AFSL Standards, which means it meets all U.S. federal requirements. Along
with the AFSL testing s, there have been many case study that prove that fireworks can be
extremely harmful to the environment. The following table shows the toxic elements of Fireworks
and what it is used for. As it is examined, it is clear to see that all the elements from the combustion
reaction can be very harmful to the environment and the living population in multiple different
ways.

Work Addiction Research Papers
The days of the regular 9 to 5 workday, 40 hour week and relaxing vacations have all but gone by
the wayside. Today, they have more often than not been replaced by workdays with no set
timeframe, a workweek consisting of up to 60 hours or more and vacations that are for the most
part nonexistent. With such extreme changes in modern work habits, things such as relationships,
health and lifestyles suffer. Sadly, this disorder is not new to researchers nor is it as small as a
problem as most people think it is. People that worked harder and longer than needed were
considered ideal employees in the past. Today, companies are implementing mandatory time off as
to battle the addictionto work. Researchers have discovered that not only is there... Show more

Some people may think this type of disorder is mostly exhibited by those with jobs, but it has been
found that even those with no jobs also suffer from such an affliction. According to many
researchers studying today s work epidemic, it has been estimated that the majority of people with
this problem have come from such situations as dysfunctional families and alcoholic parent(s). The
cause for this stems from not being able to control situations that were not controllable. Work
addiction is considered an attempt to control a situation in which they cannot control. Other
researchers have found that the sudden increase of workaholism is stemmed from recent economic
pressures. People think that by working harder and logging longer hours is a viable way of
keeping a job in such harsh economic times. During a recent study by Saul Robinson, a
psychotherapist and professor at the University of North Carolina Charlotte found that there were
four different types of workaholics. The bulimic workaholic is one that thinks that a job must be
done PERFECTLY or not done at all. The relentless workaholic, described as an adrenaline
junkie, is one that tends to take on more work than can possibly be done. The attention deficit
workaholic is one that starts a job with a fury but then fails to finish because of lost interest for
another job. The savoring workaholic is one that works very slowly, is very

Biological Determinism Research Paper
In creating a list of deterministic factors, I will go in order as listed in the question:
Biological or biological determinism, also called biologism or biodeterminism is basically nothing
more than the characteristic that we have as humans that are passed along to our offspring. An
example of this would be my child s biological determinism would be determined at his conception
as far as his physical and mental characteristics; these would be things that he would assume from
his parents and be out of his control (Allen, n.d., para. 1). In addition disorders or the brain or
natural occurring defects, blood disorders, hormonal issues, dietary, mineral and just about anything
else involving the human body (Arrigo Williams, 2008, p. 50).
When we begin talking about the deterministic factors in psychological, our text gives a good
explanation of what that means. It is very similar to that of biological counterpart, it goes on to
explain that the choices and decisions made are predetermined based upon our psychological
makeup; the choices are for the most part out of our control. The way that we are made up and
the individual tendencies that we all have are unique to each and every one of us, it defines who
we are and are considered our personality. These are the collects of traits; pattern of ways of
thinking, feeling and the way that we behave that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The text explains that these influences can be, parenting, education, religion, and our peers (Arrigo
Williams, 2008, p. 52). They come from the environment that one comes from whether that s from

completely different types of environments with different learned experiences. The culture of
people that one socializes with would have a deterministic factor

Hudson Bay Segmentation
The marketing approach taken by Hudson Bay is that of segment marketing. In a culturally
diverse country such as Canada, the only way to satisfy consumer needs as well as maximize
profit; would be to appeal to a variety of different groups. Whether it be to different sexual
orientations, cultural differences or just personal needs and interest. Hudson Bay demonstrates this
by carrying an array of products ranging from formal wear, skin care products, cosmetics, celebrity
clothing lines, designer labels and accessories just to name a few varieties. Their target market is
mainly young adolescences, men, women and women with children. With the different array of
product lines that Hudson Bay carry s, it almost makes them the ultimate one stop... Show more

As two separate companies, they have established a different approach towards the market,
however with the right research and evaluation, Rousteing and The Bay have beautifully
managed to make both sides collide with success. They have managed to design ready to wear
for different target groups, for example, women s outerwear shoes, men s business attire,
jewellery, as well as the latest Balmain Army collection inspired by Rousteing himself. They
have made the price range of the products in the listed categories reasonable and affordable for
premium quality clothing, accessories and footwear for both genders that are quality and price
conscious. Also, in Toronto and Vancouver, The Bay has launched a showroom called The Room
that features some of Balmain s hottest but not so retail friendly designer clothing from
Rousteing s runway collection. With the stratospheric prices, these items are obviously in display
for the more sophisticated young female adults that completely disregard the price tag when they
see something they genuinely adore. However, this was also an intelligent way for Rousteing
and The Bay to promote their collection by giving the people of middle class families to feel and
take a closer glimpse of some high quality handiwork. This makes the women of the demographic
target market want to know what else Balmain has in store at The Bay, that is of similar quality, but

Comparing Chronicle Of A Death Foretold And The Little...
In Gabriel GarcГa Marquez s Chronicle of a Death Foretold, an anonymous narrator explores the
murder of Santiago Nasar. He was killed by the Vicario brothers in an attempt to salvage their
family s honor the morning after Bayardo San Roman and Angela Vicario s wedding. When
Bayardo married the youngest Vicario daughter, he returned her within the same night after
discovering that she was not a virgin, and therefore, impure. However, before these events
occurred, Gabriel Garcia Marquez described the events leading to and of their wedding ceremony.
When analyzing the complexities of the relationship between Angela Vicario and Bayardo San
Roman, the motif of The Little Glass Slipper by Charles Perrault is frequently seen; however,
Angela s and San Roman s ending is not one that is filled with happiness. In Chronicle of a Death
Foretold, Angela is born beautiful just like... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the case of San Roman, he purchased all of the raffle tickets at the charity bazaar to win the

Slipper , the prince roams the kingdom in search for the woman whose foot fit the glass slipper
that Cinderella dropped at the ball. Perrault states, ...he would marry her whose foot this slipper
would just fit (Perrault). However, the reactions of Angela Vicario and Cinderella to their
respective future husbands is thoroughly different. While Cinderella reacts by being welcoming
of the gift of fitting the glass slipper, Angela was annoyed at Bayardo San Roman s conceited
behavior, declaring, I detested conceited men and I d never seen one so stuck up, ... (Marquez 29).
This quote clearly demonstrates Angela s displeasure in Bayardo San Roman using such superficial

Mandatory Rotation Of Registered Public Accounting Firms
The mandatory audit partner rotation was also one of the aspect targeted by SOX and requires
that every lead partner or reviewing partner must be rotated every five years in order to bring a
fresh look to each engagement. A particular aspect of all this rotations is the possibility to impose
mandatory rotation of registered public accounting firms. The SOX requested to the Comptroller
General of the United States to conduct a study addressing this issue and the implications of this
requirements. Although the PCAOB has expressed the importance of having some type of rotation
in the registered CPA firms and in 2011 issued a concept release proposing mandatory auditfirm
rotation, some congressman like Republican Robert Hurt have taken steps in order to avoid this
type of regulations and the Audit Integrity and Job Protection Act was passed by the House of
Representatives in 2013. These act prohibit the mandatory rotation of registered CPA firms arguing
this decision correspond to the audit committee and the shareholders of the corporation and no to
regulators. In my opinion, the mandatory registered CPA firm rotation is an unnecessary burden to
impose to companies, especially small corporations, that would be force to be changing constantly
and without any justification of CPA firm. The current audit partner rotation in CPA firms grant that
each partner is liable for the work performed by him and his team which ensures the transparency
and reliability of the audit they do.

definition of glass ceiling , the barriers of female managers in advancing to a higher level in their

These factors emphasize on the male attitudes towards women as the weaker sex and that they
were expected to work in certain areas for certain task only. In addition, (Frank, 2001) also
indicate that for example that Chinese woman prefer a male manager. Living in Malaysia as a
multiracial country, we agreed that it is true that not only the Chinese but in general that most of
our people prefer a male than the female manager in working environment. In order to overcome
this situation, the advantage of networking is possible. However the culture exists restrain the
women managers from entertaining their business associates in private clubs or on the golf course.
It is more known as the men s field to suit this type of socializing. Because of such exclusion,
women managers have limited opportunity to socialize with influential executives who could help
their career development. According to Eight Malaysian Plan, Chapter four (Malaysian Economic
Planning Unit), under employment, the legislators, senior officials and managers category is
expected to register an average annual growth of 4.7 per cent with its share to total employment
accounting for 7.8 per cent in 2005. This was due to the increasing demand for general managers,
which as well hotel and restaurants subsector, of which general managers in lodging and catering
services are accounted.

Gender, Age, And Ethnicity
The Relationship of Gender, Age, and Ethnicity in the Dying Process
Taylor Livingston
Denver School of Nursing
Abstract
The relationships of gender, age, and ethnicity can all impact how a person will react and cope
with the death of a loved one. Gender is impactful in the way that women are expected to much
more emotional and dramatic in their response to death, where men expected to remain stoic and
unaffected by a death as to not show weakness to those they are to protect. In children and
adolescents its important to acknowledge age but also assess developmental level. Adults need to
remain honest with children and be mindful of their actions because that s how they will learn to
grieve positive or negative. Ethnicity and culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gender
Gender can hold a strong influence in how an individual survives the death of a loved one. The
general differences between males and females and the management of the grief process carries
through from one culture to another. Most adults manage grief in the same way with the
exception of parents losing a child. When parents loose a child they often experience the same
emotions but they may not always be showing it in the same way (Christiansen 2014). Girls
employed significantly more strategies to cope with stress compared to boys. (Kauser Munir
2004). One study that was referenced in the book Understanding Dying, Death, and Bereavement,
women had greater tendencies to self mutilation and crying, while men would tend to direct
aggression and anger away from themselves (Leming Dickinson 2016). During a traditional African
funeral, the women would cry and moan, while the men would dance and sing, men are not to cry
in front of women because they would appear weak before the very group they are supposed to
protect (Leming Dickinson 2016). This way of thinking has the greatest influence on the way men
grieve across many cultures and societies. One can wonder if that way of thinking hadn t been
implemented then perhaps men and women would grieve more similarly. Another study mentioned
in the book Understanding Dying,

There are many factors that contribute in selecting the right trellis for the crop this is because
growth habits, environmental factors, Vine Vigor and mechanization all have crucial aspects to
how well the crop produces. Some of these different methods include non divided canopy system
such as; Umbrella Kniffin, high bilateral cordon and vertical shoot Position (VSP). There are
also divided canopy systems that incorporate; Geneva Double Curtain, Lyre, Scott Henry and
smart Dyson trellises. The best fitting trellis system for the Barossa valley for the climate is the
high bilateral cordon trellis this is also one of the main trellises used for commercial grape
growing. As Shown in (fig.5) the high bilateral cordon trellis is comprised by two wires strung
together run along at 1 and halve meters above ground level with plants spaced 1 2 meters apart.
This allows for great light and spray penetration, this method also yields higher quality yields. The
high bilateral cordon trellis makes for easy pruning and picking and also requires little to no tying.
It also provides some frost protection with the high

Who s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf Analysis
Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf by Edward Albee is a play that addresses a variety of failures
through it s rather dysfunctional characters. Albee indicates the failures within American Society;
The 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis and the tensions between the East and the West. The political
reflections by Albee are made through the characters of George and Nick, with George seemingly
representing George Washington the first American president and Nick representing Nikita
Khrushchev of the Soviet Union, as RoudanГ© notes this conflict was a terrible warning about the
very precariousness of existence . It is a sense of warning which Albee explores through the
presentation of his characters within the play and we too are made aware of the fragility of
American Society.
The most prominent failure within the play, however, could be argued to be the failure of gender
stereotypes. Martha s opening line What a dump taken from the Bette Davis film Beyond the
Forest . Acts as a summary of the entire play, her life is a metaphorical dump. The state of her
house represents the failure of the nation and is presented as chaotic by Albee within the play.
From the outset Martha does not fit with society s image of a woman, as Bottoms notes, Martha is a
vindictive caricature of womanhood ,she enters the play with the word Jesus . Opening the play
with profanity, something not appropriate for the ideal American housewife to say, establishes her
as the plays pagan. Throughout the play

Jean Jacques Rousseau s Accomplishments
This person is Jean Jacques Rousseau. He is a famous philosopher, composer, and writer from
the time period called the Age of Reason or the Enlightenment. He influenced many later
philosophers and educators such as Maria Montessori and Jacques Derrida. Most of Rousseau s
accomplishments were novels. The most famous novel Rousseau wrote was called Julie, Ou la
Nouvelle Heloise . This novel was 800 pages and was a romantic novel about a Swiss women.
This novel was very important because it sparked a revolution of romantic books for the future.
The reason that it was so influential was that in this time period not many books were fiction and
much less romance. When people enjoyed this novel they got inspired and wrote their own.
Rousseau also wrote many books about society, one of these books was called Emile, or on
Education . It was about education should be and how an individual should be in a society. Who

He had a huge challenge when he was kicked out of France. He was kicked out because of his
political writings. These writings disagreed with both the church and the government in France.
Rousseau overcame this challenge by disguising himself to get into the country. He sold his
books by putting different cover pages on the books. His accomplishments happened throughout
the later part of the 1700 s. It happened because he wrote a lot of novels and books. These books
were either very informative or very entertaining. Important people like Prince de Conti helped
promote his books throughout the years. I think Rousseau is considered an important historical
figure because of his work with books. Also because of his influence to later philosophers. Some
of the influence that he had was on politics and how he thought about the world. He also made the
genre romance popular. Overall I think that Rousseau is an important historical figure because he
changed the world and how we see

Listen To Music Worksheet
Background research why listen to music?
It is a known fact that people usually listen to music thinking it can help them do work. To many,
that is true, but the genre might be a reason when listening to music while doing work. So, I am
wondering if classical music can help you do work better than rock or the other way around.
Rock is usually being used for intense stuff such as working out and to get your blood pumping,
so some people listen to it to have a short burst of energy. While, classical music can be used to
calm you down. Also, sometimes if you play some Mozart songs can cause you to have effect

I believe the classical music is going to work because of the Mozart effect. But some people can
get slower or sluggish while listening to classical music. Depending on the person or tempo of the

Variables
The dependent variable is the people because the people are going to be affected by the music, and
I am going to give them the worksheet to do under 1:00 minute. The independent Variable is the

Classical is better to help you study and do work with as expected but if usually to listen to rock
music their test scores will be average. Another reason is when as babies if their parents make
them listen to classical music. This could make the person more prone to classical music because
it is like an old memory and there more used to it.

The Pros And Cons Of Ida B. Wells
The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting Sun Tzu. Many of the famous
Civil Rights leaders would agree with this quote, but while there also leaders that wanted
violence. Many famous people of this time period had differing opinions on how to make the lives
of African Americans safer. The primary sources from Wells, Washington, Turner, Du Bois, and
Harper showed their separate opinions on how to better the lives of African Americans, and each
person had positives and negatives, but the alternative offered by Ida B. Wells would have caused
larger problems between the black and white communities. Two of the alternatives proposed were
considered radical and almost dangerous to the African Americancommunity. The first radical idea
was proposed by Ida B. Wells. She believed that the African American population needs to stand up
against the government to show that the lynching and unjust treatment in America is unfair. Wells
was famous for her boycotting of the railroads, and she wanted every household to have a gun just
in case of emergencies involving the white people. These ideas were very radical for the time
period because she wanted people to hurt others first, she famously states, The strong arm of the law
must be brought to bear upon lynchers in severe punishment, but this cannot and will not be done
unless a healthy public sentiment demands and sustains such action . Ida B. Wells had passionate

Juvenile Justice And The Juvenile Court System
Placing a juvenile in a detention center early in the court process increases the risk that youths will
be found to be delinquent and damage their prospects for future success. A majority of the youths

be there. This portion of the juvenile court process is detrimental to the future and mental aspects of

because we are only reinforcing the delinquent behavior that these youths have been exposed to. We
need to focus on the rehabilitation and prevention efforts for these youths not the punishment aspect
and until then (insert a better ending). The state juvenile corrections systems in the U.S. detain
youth in several different types of facilities such as, group homes, residential treatment centers,
wilderness programs, boot camps, country run youth facilities, and some of these are locked or
secured through staff. Richard Mendel stated (2012), The latest official national count of youth in
correctional custody, conducted in 2010, found that roughly 48,000 U.S. youth were confined in
correctional facilities or other residential programs each night on the order of a juvenile
delinquency court (p 1). This amount of juveniles in these facilities is roughly the same amount of
adolescents that live in cities like Louisville, Kentucky or Portland Oregon. America relies heavily

Dna Profiling
DNA profiling is a method of identifying an individual by unique characteristics of their DNA. A
specific DNA pattern, called a profile, is obtained from an individual or a sample of tissue. This
allows the comparison of the base sequence of two or more DNA samples to determine whether
they are related.
DNA profiling has many uses, in prevention of economic fraud, dietetic work, and classifying
species, identifying bodies, forensic science, screening for disease, and investigating paternity.
Most importantly DNA profiling is used in forensic science; used to identify who committed the
crime. It is estimated that roughly one percent of all criminal cases employ this technique.
However, DNA profiling has been used to acquit several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Sarah Ley, Dietitian, says in the future we would expect to use DNA profiling to check out the
risk of getting a disease such as heart disease more closely and what sorts of reactions food might
have for some people.
The last common use for DNA profiling is for paternity testing. This can be used for immigration
issues by screening people claiming citizenship on the basis of their relations holding British
/American citizenship. If parents are unsure who is the father of a child a DNA sample can be
taken from the child and profiled beside that of the possible fathers and the result can be read
against that, resolving the paternity dispute.
DNA profiling meets human demand in all these categories of uses from keeping endangered
species safe to identifying killers. More detail to the cancer research is needed as a struggle for a
cure is continued. The recent sequencing of the human genome, coupled with advances in
biotechnology, is enabling the comprehensive molecular profiling of human tissues. In particular,
DNA microarrays are powerful tools for obtaining global views of human tumor gene expression.
Complex information from tumor expression profiling studies can, in turn, be used to create novel
molecular cancer diagnostics. DNA profiling of tumor DNAs may reveal important new diagnostic
therapys targets to improve prediction and treatment of advanced cancer patients. In a breast cancer
study, the American Association for Cancer Research

Major Modern Day Issues In The United States
Throughout history there has always been issues among the government and everyday issues of
the people of the United States, but nowadays we have many problems among us that we can t
quite make decisions on like many of past problems. Things that we can t decide if it s
constitutional or not. So throughout this paper were going to decide what is constitutional and
what isn t about major modern day issues such as: school attendance when under the age of 16 and
the laws requiring the every American citizen to have healthcare. Two major problems that us
American s just can t quite find a happy medium to.

It has not worked in all states, something we have to keep in mind when passing laws such as
this. In different states, comes differences in culture also. We might find that one culture values
work ethic much more than an education. Or perhaps lower income families cannot afford the
financial burdens of schooling their children. It might not seem like a lot to some of us but
those are and could be major factors in some states. These are risks, but the question is whether
we are willing to take them to make a difference in our rates. From what I have read on the
constitution and age limits on drop out there is nothing between these two things that intertwine
that say we cannot lower or raise the age of minimal dropout ages? As I said before though this

The Heart And The Liver Essay
The heart and the liver are closely related, and this has been known for many years. So, patients
with acute and chronic heart failure develop symptoms related to the liver. In the setting of right
sided heart failure a spectrum of hepatic derangements occur, known as Cardiac cirrhosis or
congestive hepatopathy (Moller and Bernardi, 2013). The effect of cardiac cirrhosison prognosis is
not that clear, but cardiac cirrhosis could be reversed after hearttransplantation.
When a sudden and dramatic increase in serum hepatic transaminase occurs, associated with
cardiogenic shock, this indicates severe hepatocellular necrosis named ischemic hepatitis (Crespo
Leiro et al., 2008).
On the contrary; chronic liver disease alone may have an effect on the function and
electrophysiology of the heart in absence of other cardiac disease. This complex is collectively
named cirrhotic cardiomyopathy that affects the patient prognosis and aggravates the course during
invasive procedures such as surgery, insertion of a trans jugular intrahepatic porto systemic shunt
(TIPS), and orthotropic liver transplantation (OLT) (Moller and Bernardi, 2013).
Cirrhotic Cardiomyopathy (CCM):
The term cirrhotic cardiomyopathy was first known more than 30 years ago, and is characterized
by chronic cardiac dysfunction in patients with cirrhosis in the absence of known cardiac disease,
regardless of the etiology of cirrhosis. Certain criteria for diagnosis of CCM have recently been

Humor in The Simpsons Essay
Humor in The Simpsons I and many other millions of people across the world believe that The
Simpson s is the best programme on television because it is funny in more ways then one. The
Simpson s uses the family lifestyle that many American TV shows have used over past (e.g. The
Adam s family, The Flintstones) but The Simpson s has proved it is a lot more popular because
it uses many more different forms of comedy which work with people from all ages. Slapstick
comedy is where someone gets hurt and you laugh but if you saw it happen in real life you d
find it sick for example when homer the father strangles his son Bart in many episodes it would be

Where Bart, Lisa and their classmates get stranded on an island and they go through the same
things as they did in the book or film. Another great example is where Bart writes I can t see
dead people on the board in the opening credits which is a parody of The sixth sense which is a
supernatural film about ghosts and there is a memorable quote where the young boy says I see
dead people . Another example of Intertextuality is where they use the idea of the matrix, which
is a sci fi film where the actors dodge bullets and move in slow motion. And in the Simpson s
Bart starts running up walls and dodging bullets and moving in slow motion and is quite
enjoyable to watch because its good seeing the Simpson s doing it. Intertextuality is a
sophisticated type of comedy because the older viewers are more likely to grasp examples of
these then younger viewers. Running gags are things you will probably see in every episode and
are funny every time you see them. Running gags are jokes that are same jokes and actions that
reappear every now and again. For example Homer always strangles his son Bart whenever he s
rude or annoys Homer usually by outsmarting him. Another running gag which I find funny is

Intertextuality Of Love
Throughout the ages, many have tried to comprehend the human experience of love and its
ineffable and mysterious force that leads us to complete euphoria or utter despair, with songs,
paintings, and stories. In Plato s Symposium, six guest including Socrates, tackle and attempt to
define love amongst each other. With each attempt, and our study of Johns gospel, the intertextuality
between the symposium and John 15:8 17 helps one better understand the portrait that John portrays
of Jesusas the ultimate lover and only way to being fully complete.
In the Farewell Discourse of Johns gospel, Jesus speaks of his abiding love and ultimate
commandment given to his disciples. He tells his disciples, As the Father loves me, so I also
love you. Remain in my love... I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy
might be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love you (John 15:9 12).
This guide he gives to his disciples, as a way to live in relation to each other, can connect with
that of Phaedrus idea of love. In the Symposium, Phaedrus speaks of love as a great god who
gives the greatest goods and there is no greater good given to a boy than a lover. The lover is the
guidance, to hold accountable the boy, just as we are held accountable by Jesus. He gives us this
commandment of simply loving each other as he loves us and the Father him. Just as the Lover in
Phaedrus definition of love, the Lover is guiding the boy to be his companion and to love

The Voting Rights Act And Nationality Amendment Act Of 1965
The Impacts of the Voting Rights Act and Nationality Amendment Act of 1965
The Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s influenced the federal government to introduce new laws
to better the country for Blacks and other minorities. The two major acts that passed were the
Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Nationality Amendments Act of 1965. President John F. Kennedy
and Lyndon B. Johnson helped ignite the fire for change in the United States (Shaw et. al. 2015:
207). My thesis is that the passings of the VotingRights Act of 1965 and the Nationality
Amendments Act of 1965 successfully did overcome big problems with discrimination, but there
is space to grow since some of the key provisions needed to be revise.
First, The Voting Rights Actof 1965 passed when President John F. Kennedy was in office. The
key provisions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 were to handle the voter discrimination and
make voting rights more fair and restrictive. Before the Voting Rights Act of 1965, there were
many obstacles to prevent blacks and other minorities from voting. In the era of the Jim Crow
laws, many states created poll taxes and literacy tests for blacks to take before registering to vote
(Menand. 2013: 4). These literacy tests were ridiculously hard for blacks due to the fact that some
were illiterate. Even blacks who attended college could barely pass the literacy tests. For example,
it could be recite the entire constitution. Some of the reasons why white people did not want blacks

Jeremy Bentham and the United Nations
Jeremy Bentham and the United Nations: Jeremy Bentham is generally considered the father of
Utilitarianism. As a doctrine that seeks to maximize pleasure and minimize pain, Utilitarian
thinkers, including Bentham, would approve of any organization or set of practices that have the
tendency to do so. The United Nationsis such an organization. Bentham firmly believed world
governance was possible, at least under his utilitarian system (Pitts 212). The community is a
fictitious body, composed of the individual persons who are considered as constituting as it were
its members, (Bentham 1823, 586). In this quote Bentham refers to how single communities are
merely collections of individuals. Since the distinctions between individuals are arbitrary the only
objective grouping of people is to include the entire world population. As Bentham saw borders as
imagined, he would approve of the coming together of humanity that the United Nations fosters.
With its border crossing initiatives of conflict resolution and humanitarian aid, the United Nations
is a source of good in the modern world and one that Bentham would endorse if he were here to do
so, albeit with some concerns and recommendations. The United Nations primary goal stated in
Article One, Section One of the organization s charter is [t]o maintain international peace and
security . So far as the United Nations achieves this goal, Bentham would be in complete approval
as war and conflict are great causes of human

Outside The Realm Of Philosophical, And Religious, Study
Outside the realm of philosophical, and religious, study the words substance, and matter, are
commonplace definer of a physical material out of which an object of permanence is made of. To
the philosophers of the early modern period not only are these terms dissimilar, but also
represented radically different ontological theories. The topic of substance is a pillar of philosophy
an ontological analysis. The term substance corresponds to the Greek ousia, which means being

An example would be someone s name. The name Gabe is capable of existing on its own, and
while it is likely this name is associated with another human it cannot be proven to be associated
to any form or object. Secondary substance would be predictive of form and function; so human
would be a secondary substance as a human has a definitive form (Stanford Encyclopedia of
Philosophy). This dualist presentation of substance allows for a deductive ontological proof
capable of predicting primary substance. Aristotle believes, Whenever one thing is predicated of
another as of a subject, all things said of what is predicated will be said of the subject also. He
continues by presented the example that, man is predicated of the individual man, and animal of
man; so animal will be predicated of the individual man also for the individual man is both a man
and an animal. (1b10, Categories). This chain of predictability allowed Aristotle to prove whether
something has being or not. Interestingly, Aristotle leaves the binary substance classification for a
more specific criterion to understand what substance is.

Geese in the rear of the V promote their encouragement by honking to one another during flight.
Like geese, we let each other know that if one of us should fall, there is a cushion of help and
support waiting. Some of us would have possibly given up if not for the inspiration of others.
We have depended upon each other to get the job done. We have stood beside on another for all
these years. Displaying our affection is done by simply being there for one another, again
similar to the goose. When one goose is unable to fly, two other geese will accompany it until it
either dies or can again return to the skies. They help nourish it by supplying it with food. They
help protect it from predators. And when the time arrives for it to fly again, they are right there
beside it. As classmates we were given the opportunity to establish lifelong friendships. Most of
us seized it, even embraced it with open arms. Like the geese, we helped to regenerate the faith
we have in ourselves thus enabling us to have faith in each other. Geese have perfected the art of
sharing leadership. The lead goose will fly at the tip of the V until it is so weary from breaking
the wind for the other that it has to rely on another to take its place. It will then fall back and let
the air lift created by the others to elevate it. One person, or goose, can get so far, but many are
unstoppable. Together, we have persevered

Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
In the poem Song of Myself by Walt Whitman persona is all about individualism and
transcendentalism. In the poem, he explains how much he loves the world, especially nature and
how everything fits together just as it should. Whitman thinks everything is good to him and
nothing is bad that doesn t contribute to some larger idea. He believes that people should learn
from experiences and not books. Whitman identifies everyone and everything, including death.
His soul takes him on a journey around the world and all over America. This can be seen when

Fetching it to me with full hands; How could I answer the child? I do not know what it is any

our own dispositions, our own hopes. It can also be seen metaphorically that the grass grows
alike in the zones of rich and poor people, among black folks as among white, and we as human
beings ought to live the same way. We should take lessons from the democracy of the grass, and
treat all people equally. I interpret it in this sense because Whitman lived through the Civil war,

Comparison Between Hunger Games And Hunger Games
Taking the kids from our districts, forcing them to kill one another while we watch this is the
Capitol s way of reminding us how totally we are at their mercy. How little chance we would
stand of surviving another rebellion (19). This quote is from the novel Hunger Games by Suzanne
Collins. It describes one way that The Capitol suppresses the people of Panem, potentially having
two of their friends, family, and children face off with other kids from a different district. The
Capitol is reminding people that they are dominant and the citizens can do nothing to oppose them.
HungerGames takes place in a dystopian society where every year, a male and female tribute
from ages 12 18 is chosen from each district, 24 in total, to fight to the death to win food and
supplies for their families, and was published in 2008. Another example of a dystopian novel is
Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Published in 1954, this book is about a group of boys
from England who become stranded on an uninhabited island after their plane was struck down,
assumably because of a war. How do these books compare if they were published about 54 years
apart? One reason is that they both used fire symbolically. Another reason is that they both have
representations of evil in their books. Another reason that these books compare is that of the
settings in both places. Finally, they both compare because they both have representations of
civility and savagery. Even though these books were published

Cloud Computing System For Computing
Cloud Computing Introduction Cloud computing system, which functions based on the concept
of providing computing as a utility, can be defined as the method of providing resources for
computing on demand, using remotely operational servers on the internet for data storage,
processing data and managing data. Its equivalent to using a computer for its services, only
without having to carry the hardware for it. Cloud applications, being dynamically scalable,
agile and capable of running virtual applications and even an OS on a browser help in reducing
costs of resource acquisition. A cloud computing model has the following basic features:
Without involving any human interaction, the users can access any contracted service
/ resource, be it data processing, memory space or application programs as a service from the
provider. These contracted services/ resources can be availed by any user anywhere, anytime
via the internet. These computing resources are distributed in various data centres across the
globe which is shared by users from any part of the world. It goes by pay what you use for policy.
The user pays only for the resources they use. Also, a big advantage is that from a user s

Optical Disc and Hd Dvd
Disruptive and transformational technologies typically appeal to segments of the market that are
undeserved, and not to the main stream of the market (Shane, 2009). These technologies have the
ability to make traditional tools and processes obsolete virtually overnight. In this paper I use
Netflix as an example of a disruptive technology and Toshiba NEC s HD DVD as transformational
technology. I begin with a discussion of disruptive technology. Afterwards, I will speak on the
success of Netflix; explain the disruptive and shifting technology created once it sustained itself in
the market. I then provide a review of transformational technology and explain the transformational
change to HD DVD and the failure to capture and sustain a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In August of 2002, Toshiba NEC proposed the next generation optical disc format HD DVD
(Williams, 2008). HD DVD (High Definition/Density DVD) transformed the way we view digital
media in the early 2000 s. It was predicted that the HD DVD would be the successor to the standard
DVD format.
As the creator of the successor to the standard DVD format, Toshiba created a paradigm shift
phasing out the standard DVD which played at 704 pixels by 480 pixels and introduced HD
DVD which plays at 1920 pixel by 1080 pixels ( The difference between, ). The HD optical disk
held up to 15GB on a single side and produced a crisp picture for in home entertainment. The HD
DVD Promotion Group was a group of manufacturers and media studios formed to exchange
thoughts and ideas to help promote the format worldwide (Rapid Response Team, 2006).
With marketing and management Toshiba convinced companies such as Paramount Pictures,
Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, HBO and New Line Cinema to announce support for the
HD DVD format. This shift in technology, with the help of HDTV, moved in home entertainment to
new heights. Toshiba NEC were able to capitalize on the market meeting the needs of the PC
industry driven optical drive business and the next generation DVD media ( Toshiba and nec,
2002). As Toshiba NEC and its supporters pushed

General External Environment Analysis Essay
THE GENERAL EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT
Laka Muralidharan
General external environment is composed of dimensions in the broader society that influence an
industry and the firms within it. These dimensions can be can be grouped into the following six
environmental segments: demographic, economic, political/legal, sociocultural, technological and
global segments.
1) Demographic segment
China and India account for 1/3rd of the population and experts believe that they will remain the
top two populous countries at least until 2050. China and India would contribute 65 million and
142 million new workers respectively to the global workforce by the year 2020. Both countries
offer large, educated, relatively low cost workforces, and as ... Show more content on

However, since the recovery is just a few months old, there is still a lot of skepticism about
whether it is for real and whether it has some legs to run further. I think the worst is behind us, but
the future is still uncertain. I believe that it would take quite a while, at least a couple of years to
get back to the economic levels (unemployment rate and housing market) of 2006.
3) Political/Legal segment
This segment is an area where organizations compete for attention, resources and a voice in
overseeing the body of laws and regulations guiding the interactions among nations. As the politics
of regulations change, this segment influences the nature of competition through changing rules.
An example is the global trend toward privatization of government owned or regulated firms. Firms
must carefully analyze new political administration s business related policies and philosophies.
Often, firms develop a political strategy to influence government policies and actions that might
affect them.
In the global scenario, more countries continue to join the World Trade Organization(WTO) as they
seem to believe that free trade across nations serves the best interest of individual countries and
their citizens. Down the line, many years from now, we would see a scenario where all countries
in the globe become members of organizations like WTO and there is a fair trade across all countries

Carpe Diem in Christopher MarloweВґs The Passionate...
Christopher Marlowe s The Passionate Shepherd to His Love and Robert Herrick s To the
Virgins, Make Much of Time share the same common theme of Carpe Diem. They also have
many differences such as the tone, and the type of poem. Marlowe s is more of a romantic poem,
a Shepherd expressing his love to a woman. Herrick s is more of a preachy poem, the poet is
telling these young virgins that they need to hurry up and get married because they do not have
much time.
Both Marlowe s The Passionate Shepherd to His Love and Herrick s To the Virgins, Make Much

And we will sit upon the rocks, Seeing the shepherds feed their flocks

Robert Herrick s poem To the Virgins, Make Much of Time is considered to be a preachy type of
poem. The poet is telling young virgins that they need to hurry up and get married because they
do not have much time. Then be not coy, but use your time, and while ye may, go marry
(Herrick) The Tone of this poem is didactic, he is expressing his opinion. He is telling these
young unmarried women to hurry up and get married, and stop wasting time. Gather ye rose buds
while ye may: Old Time is still a flying; And this same flower that smiles to day, To morrow will be
dying (Herrick) The Rhyme Scheme for To the Virgins, Make Much of Time is the first and third
of each stanza rhymes while the second and the fourth line rhyme. The glorious lamp of heaven,
the Sun, The higher he s a getting, the sooner will his race be run, and nearer he s to setting
(Herrick)
In Conclusion The Passionate Shepherd to His Love and To the Virgins, Make Much of Time is
similar in theme. The theme for both stories was Carpe Diem. Even though the Theme was
similar, the difference in each poem was the Tone, Rhyme Scheme and the type of poem. The tone
for Marlowe s is optimistic and loving and the poem is pastoral. The Rhyme scheme for Marlowe
s poem is the first two lines rhyme and the last two lines in the

Citizenship As A Citizen Of A State
A broad description of citizenship is to be a citizen of a state. This can entail numerous
responsibilities and opportunities. With that in mind, it is easier to think of citizenship not just as
something that is owned and held, like a piece of paper, but instead is a responsibility that holds
positive consequences if a citizen upholds their end of the deal. Not only is it a responsibility, but
it is a type of contract between the individual and the state. By making it a contract it holds those
responsibilities and rewards that both sides obtain and uphold at an equal matter. Although some
freedoms are often given up for citizenship, there is an understanding that the contract between the
state and the citizen is not lessened. With the idea of a contract, it is interesting to explore what are
the rights and responsibilities of both the individual and the state, and also how far does the state
extend in the sense of citizenship as a contract, it is possible to have global citizenship. When
discussing any sort of contract, an individual is generally more interested in how it benefits
themselves. These benefits are known as rights. For these purposes, rights are something that are
given to a citizen when they receive citizenship. In the United States, these include things such as
the right to vote or the right to own a gun. What makes rights and freedoms different is that a right
is not automatically assumed by a person what this means is that, a person can buy a gun for

Cultural Values Of The Ojibwa Culture
The Ojibwa or known as the Chippewa in European are people of northeastern North America. The
term Ojibwa is said to mean the puckered moccasin people or they say the French said the word
meant pictograph. The Chippewa Indians mainly lived in the Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota
and Michigan. There was 35,000 Ojibwaon the continent in the mid seventeenth century. They
used the word Anishinabeg to describes themselves which means original people. The Ojibwa
has its own cultural values like honesty, generosity, endurance, wisdom, and strength of character.
All these values have been instilled through education and religious practice. The tribe has had
ties with the French and even helped the French fight against the British in the French and
Indian war. The French traders would even wed Chippewa women. The family was of great
importance to the Ojibwa tribes. Each person in the Ojibwa family has its own role to ensure that
things are done correctly. In the Ojibwa community, the roles between males and females were
seen as complementary. The males would do the hunting and go to war if needed. The men would
also be the ones that do trading and negotiation with the Europeans after the first contact. They
usually hold leadership positions. Even though the society was usually not as organized, there
was still need for leaders. People would gain rank as great warriors, religious leaders, and civil
leaders. The most respected in the towns would be the shaman because of his

Chinese Migration
In the year of 2017, Canada will be celebrating 132 years since the completion of the CPR, the
Canadian Pacific Railway. The completion of the transcontinental railway was critical for the
survival of the newly formed country of Canada. It finally unified the country from coast to coast,
economically, and physically linking the wide set of land together. However, even though the
building of the railroad was a dangerous and a long construction, it created employment for
thousands of Chinese workers. The Heritage Minute: Nitro presents the story of an old man telling
his grandchildren about how Chinese immigrants helped build the Canadian Pacific Railwayin the
late 1800 s. A younger self of the old man is shown as he volunteers to set a dangerous... Show more

Many citizens of Canada believed that the Chinese had come to take away their jobs, urging on
great amount of racism. The Prime Minister of Canada at the time, John A. Macdonald, insisted
on the recruitment of the Chinese workers in the interest of reducing costs. The Chinese workers
were paid one fifth to one half of the salaries Canadian workers received. Not only did they
provide cheap labour for their employers, but would also do the jobs Canadians would not. Just
as shown in the Heritage Minute, the Chinese workers were used to blow up rock with the
explosive nitroglycerin. As mentioned in the Heritage Minute, it is said that for every mile of the
railway, one Chinese worker died. Some argue that it is more accurate to say that for every mile of
the railway, four Chinese workers died. However, the Chinese workers brought more to the
production of the CPR than just cheap labour; they brought with them their knowledge and
experience, proving to be skilled

How To Modernise Othello
Good morning ladies and gentlemen, and I hope you re as excited as I am to be here, to discuss
with you my new film pitch, a modern adaptation of one of Shakespeare s most loved classics,
Othello.
Despite being written to pander to the lowest common demoniter in Elizabethan times,
Shakespeare, in our society, seems to be reserved for scholars and the well educated, with its use
of language lowering it s accessibilty and providing us with a barrier to enjoyment , making it
relatively obsolete in our times.
Modernising Othello provides an opportunity to transform the play into an understandable and
relevant story, whilst preserving the themes, values and attitudes portrayed in the original, however,
manipulating them to resonate with a modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Entitled The Treachery of Images , the film makes reference to Magritte s infamous pipe painting,
reminding us that we should not necessarily believe in what we see and think, as deception lies in
every nook and cranny in our lives, meaning that nothing can truly be trusted. This is a modern and
novel nod to Othello, as the play itself is an adept exploration of the faces of good and evil, proving
the end point that nothing, and no one, are truly what they seem.
My vision re casts Othello as Oliver, a 20th century English Duke, who, despite his constant
questioning of the church and it s values, is appointed as mayor of a small village, leaving the
metropolitan haven of the city, and into a place where he is neither trusted nor accepted. With him
come his faithful and sweet wife, Dorothea, who married him against her heavily religious fathers
wishes, and his two sons, Ichabod and Charles. Whilst Oliver trusts, and supposedly favours,
Ichabod, Charles is far more successful than his brother, meaning he is named sole heir of the
families wealth and estate. For fair natured and trustworthy Ichabod, this would be a choice that he
would support wholly, however, a changling has taken his place, a curse put upon him by the God
that he questions so freely. Under the pretense of being Ichabod, the changeling begins to wreak
havoc, coaxing Oliver into pyschosis and convincing him that there is something Oedipal occuring
between Charles and Dorothea, and eventually causing Oliver to murder

Importance Of Tidal Energy
Electricity Culminating
Renewable Energy Project

Why should tidal energy be a common renewable energy source in the future?
Tidal energy is a form of hydroelectricity that is provided from the rise and fall of tides. Due to the
Moon s gravitational force, bodies of water rise and fall, the force created can be turned into a form
of renewable energy. Tidal power was first introduced in the 19th century in U.S and Europe. In
1966, the Rance Tidal Power Station, was operated in France, being the first large scale tidal
system. Tidal energy is more predictable than solar panels and wind turbines. The sun isn t always
out to provide light and the wind depends on the weather. Tides are almost always there and the
ocean is more understood than the temperature or the sun. Tidal energy is much more reliable and
renewable than other sources such as fossil fuels which cause acid rain, and nuclear power and its
radiation. Since the ocean is much denser than air, tidal turbines generate more electricity and
therefore are more efficient compared to wind turbines. Hydro power in general is considered more
efficient and converts the most energy to electricity than other renewable energy sources.
Tidal power is also inexpensive compared to other renewable energy sources as shown below in
this chart.
Tidal power plants also have a very long lifespan. The oldest plant, La Rance, in

Global Governance Is The Most Significant Undertaking...
Introduction
Global governance is the most significant undertaking towards political collaboration that addresses,
mediates and provides leadership to issues that affect member states and has huge impacts on world
trade. In the last few decades, various communities in the world have become increasingly
interconnected due to economic integration and increasing change in technology (Ikenberry, 2015).
Global governance constitutes organizing, administering and supervision of global affairs and
processes without a prescribed world government. Correspondingly, it offers real and
accommodative problem solving engagements in social, environment, economic and political issues
(Iorio, 2014). There are various entities within the global governance ... Show more content on

Besides, the governance bodies are interested in coordinating specific mechanisms regarding
accountability, legitimacy, and transparency (Jackson, 2008). Consequently, they emphasize on
transparency, bureaucratic participation, reasoned decisions, and accessibility to assessment
mechanisms. Besides, they focus on circumvention of unnecessary measures and illegitimate
avoidance expectations (Busch Reinhardt, 2003). Global governance is made up of an incongruent
assortment of regulatory entities that facilitate decision making and administrative activities facing
member states. Such bodies include Basel Committee that regulate and supervise banking sector
through of the territories of the member states. This committee liaises between governments of the
member countries, the secretariat of the global governance entities and the banks.
Global governing bodies develop laws that monitor the operations of trading international regulatory
entities like world trade organization to help in enhancing transparency and accountability (Weiss

member transacts freely, fairly and performs the legitimate trade. Besides, the institution ensures
that fairness, due process, and procedural participation been adhered accordingly. Without due

WHO quoted that almost five women die every hour in India due to insufficient blood transfusion
after obstetric hemorrhage (7) and the condition of rural India is even worse. This article is drafted
to present the current status of blood donation and transfusion in India through the eyes of a young
Indian physician.
Blood donation in India started in 1942 during the 2nd world war. It was aimed to help wounded
soldiers. In 1954, a social reformer initiated voluntary blood donation camps. The next milestone
was the declaration of October 1 as the Blood Donation Day in 1975. But this was followed by a
major setback in 1980 with the emergence of AIDS. This created a fearful environment amongst
the general population towards donating blood and receiving transfusion due to the risk of getting
infected. Even after almost 4 decades of development of various techniques for obtaining blood via
closed collection system in a sterile environment and screening for various transfusion transmitted
infections (TTI), the fear of contracting some sort of infection is persistent. This misconception has
been one of the major roadblocks to building a strong base for VBD.
According to the WHO, nearly 38% of voluntary blood donations are by people under the age of
25(8). India is home to the largest number of young population, yet only one percent of eligible
donors donate blood. Bharatwaj et al studied

I Liked The Feel Of Nudeness Analysis
The Secret Truth to Words
I liked the feel of nudeness (Kidd 134). Every day people use sentences to describe how they re
feeling, to answer questions, including thousands of other reasons. While it may not be
apparent, every word and phrase have a meaning. Each and every simple thing said by humans
have their own stories, their own backgrounds. While some words people speak are bland and
unimportant, their words always express something unique that can be broken into parts to
explain the words said as a whole. Therefore, phrases can be broken down from a grouping of
words with little to no meaning, to single words with many explanations. First, is a very
interesting sentence, one with many meanings to some, and no meaning to others. In the book,
The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, the main character in the book Lily thinks to herself,
I liked the feel of nudeness (134). This quote can be explained in so many different ways, but the
way I interpret it is unique to myself. To me, this quote is expressing freedom and beauty, and can

complete freedom. Some contradict saying that with too much freedom comes too much pressure,
which can lead to a negative outcome. Yet, what they fail to realize is, when given absolute
freedom, one is able to be live their lives based purly upon what they feel is the right thing for

  • 2. Eclampsia Is A Known Cause Of Significant Maternal And Eclampsia is a known cause of significant maternal and fetal death secondary to pulmonary edema and cerebrovascular hemorrhage. (1) One UK study found that of women presenting with eclampsia, one out of 14 of the infants did not survive. (3) This word eclampsia literally means lightning, and appropriately so considering its rapid onset and often fatal outcome. While many women receive high quality, consistent prenatal care, many others do not. As a result, early signs of pre eclampsia can easily be over looked. Additionally, because these same women often live a significant distance from adequate neonatal resources, without rapid emergency intervention they would likely have a negative outcome in the pregnancy. For this reason, it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (2) Therefore, for medics to effectively manage the eclamptic patient, they should understand key signals and, ideally, the patient s past medical history. Based on data analysis of patients considered to be at risk for developing eclampsia, those with prior pre eclampsia, chronic hypertension (HTN), pre gestational diabetes, assisted reproductive technology, and BMI 30 were most strongly associated with a high rate of pre eclampsia. (4) Lastly, women at both extremes of childbearing age (young and old) are more likely to develop pre eclampsia than other parous women. These are key factors to consider when initially evaluating a patient at greater than 20 weeks gestation with BP of over 140/90. (2) Should a patient be found (as described in the case above) already in an eclamptic state and actively seizing, immediate action is required for protection of both mother and fetus. A Japanese study specifically evaluated the air transportation of 19 women with various pregnancy complications to determine if it could be a viable option for those patients not living near suitable medical facilities. In fact, the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology found that using helicopter transport not only for rapid care but also given the disparities of tertiary perinatal cares . • 3. Persuasive Essay On Noise Pollution are being presented with a sense of urgency, we need to be concerned about the greenhouse gases fireworks produce, which include Carbon dioxide (CO2) and ozone. In addition, Fireworks fallout can contaminate water supplies and residue on the ground can be carried away by rain and end up in our lakes, rivers, or oceans. Along with both these types of pollutions, Fireworks can be loud and the vibrations can travel far which results in noise pollution. In the middle of the night fireworks often disturb people trying to sleep. Fireworks can exceed 140 decibels and noise at 85 decibels or above can damage hearing. Some people also argue the noise from fireworks scares pets and wildlife like birds, etc. For the color effect of fireworks, toxic heavy metals like barium, aluminum, lead, mercury salts, antimony, copper, and strontium can be used in firework compositions. Outdated heavy metals that have been used in the past include rubidium and cadmium. Some toxic elements are supposedly not used in fireworks anymore like lead compounds, chlorates, and mercury as mercurous chloride (calomel), but some firework chemical outlets still sell some of these ingredients. Experimental Procedure Many fireworks are imported from China which is scary because they have a proven track record of cutting corners by using cheaper, more toxic materials. Some of the metals also have radioactive isotopes. The American Fireworks Standards Laboratory (AFSL) has established a testing and certification program for Chinese and U.S. fireworks to determine if they are being produced according to AFSL Standards, which means it meets all U.S. federal requirements. Along with the AFSL testing s, there have been many case study that prove that fireworks can be extremely harmful to the environment. The following table shows the toxic elements of Fireworks and what it is used for. As it is examined, it is clear to see that all the elements from the combustion reaction can be very harmful to the environment and the living population in multiple different ways. • 4. Work Addiction Research Papers The days of the regular 9 to 5 workday, 40 hour week and relaxing vacations have all but gone by the wayside. Today, they have more often than not been replaced by workdays with no set timeframe, a workweek consisting of up to 60 hours or more and vacations that are for the most part nonexistent. With such extreme changes in modern work habits, things such as relationships, health and lifestyles suffer. Sadly, this disorder is not new to researchers nor is it as small as a problem as most people think it is. People that worked harder and longer than needed were considered ideal employees in the past. Today, companies are implementing mandatory time off as to battle the addictionto work. Researchers have discovered that not only is there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some people may think this type of disorder is mostly exhibited by those with jobs, but it has been found that even those with no jobs also suffer from such an affliction. According to many researchers studying today s work epidemic, it has been estimated that the majority of people with this problem have come from such situations as dysfunctional families and alcoholic parent(s). The cause for this stems from not being able to control situations that were not controllable. Work addiction is considered an attempt to control a situation in which they cannot control. Other researchers have found that the sudden increase of workaholism is stemmed from recent economic pressures. People think that by working harder and logging longer hours is a viable way of keeping a job in such harsh economic times. During a recent study by Saul Robinson, a psychotherapist and professor at the University of North Carolina Charlotte found that there were four different types of workaholics. The bulimic workaholic is one that thinks that a job must be done PERFECTLY or not done at all. The relentless workaholic, described as an adrenaline junkie, is one that tends to take on more work than can possibly be done. The attention deficit workaholic is one that starts a job with a fury but then fails to finish because of lost interest for another job. The savoring workaholic is one that works very slowly, is very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Biological Determinism Research Paper In creating a list of deterministic factors, I will go in order as listed in the question: Biological or biological determinism, also called biologism or biodeterminism is basically nothing more than the characteristic that we have as humans that are passed along to our offspring. An example of this would be my child s biological determinism would be determined at his conception as far as his physical and mental characteristics; these would be things that he would assume from his parents and be out of his control (Allen, n.d., para. 1). In addition disorders or the brain or natural occurring defects, blood disorders, hormonal issues, dietary, mineral and just about anything else involving the human body (Arrigo Williams, 2008, p. 50). When we begin talking about the deterministic factors in psychological, our text gives a good explanation of what that means. It is very similar to that of biological counterpart, it goes on to explain that the choices and decisions made are predetermined based upon our psychological makeup; the choices are for the most part out of our control. The way that we are made up and the individual tendencies that we all have are unique to each and every one of us, it defines who we are and are considered our personality. • 6. Hudson Bay Segmentation The marketing approach taken by Hudson Bay is that of segment marketing. In a culturally diverse country such as Canada, the only way to satisfy consumer needs as well as maximize profit; would be to appeal to a variety of different groups. Whether it be to different sexual orientations, cultural differences or just personal needs and interest. Hudson Bay demonstrates this by carrying an array of products ranging from formal wear, skin care products, cosmetics, celebrity clothing lines, designer labels and accessories just to name a few varieties. Their target market is mainly young adolescences, men, women and women with children. With the different array of product lines that Hudson Bay carry s, it almost makes them the ultimate one stop... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As two separate companies, they have established a different approach towards the market, however with the right research and evaluation, Rousteing and The Bay have beautifully managed to make both sides collide with success. They have managed to design ready to wear for different target groups, for example, women s outerwear shoes, men s business attire, jewellery, as well as the latest Balmain Army collection inspired by Rousteing himself. They have made the price range of the products in the listed categories reasonable and affordable for premium quality clothing, accessories and footwear for both genders that are quality and price conscious. Also, in Toronto and Vancouver, The Bay has launched a showroom called The Room that features some of Balmain s hottest but not so retail friendly designer clothing from Rousteing s runway collection. With the stratospheric prices, these items are obviously in display for the more sophisticated young female adults that completely disregard the price tag when they see something they genuinely adore. However, this was also an intelligent way for Rousteing and The Bay to promote their collection by giving the people of middle class families to feel and take a closer glimpse of some high quality handiwork. This makes the women of the demographic target market want to know what else Balmain has in store at The Bay, that is of similar quality, but with a more affordable ... • 7. Comparing Chronicle Of A Death Foretold And The Little... In Gabriel GarcГa Marquez s Chronicle of a Death Foretold, an anonymous narrator explores the murder of Santiago Nasar. He was killed by the Vicario brothers in an attempt to salvage their family s honor the morning after Bayardo San Roman and Angela Vicario s wedding. When Bayardo married the youngest Vicario daughter, he returned her within the same night after discovering that she was not a virgin, and therefore, impure. However, before these events occurred, Gabriel Garcia Marquez described the events leading to and of their wedding ceremony. When analyzing the complexities of the relationship between Angela Vicario and Bayardo San Roman, the motif of The Little Glass Slipper by Charles Perrault is frequently seen; however, Angela s and San Roman s ending is not one that is filled with happiness. Likewise, in The Little Glass Slipper , the prince roams the kingdom in search for the woman whose foot fit the glass slipper that Cinderella dropped at the ball. Perrault states, ...he would marry her whose foot this slipper would just fit (Perrault). However, the reactions of Angela Vicario and Cinderella to their respective future husbands is thoroughly different. • 8. Mandatory Rotation Of Registered Public Accounting Firms The mandatory audit partner rotation was also one of the aspect targeted by SOX and requires that every lead partner or reviewing partner must be rotated every five years in order to bring a fresh look to each engagement. A particular aspect of all this rotations is the possibility to impose mandatory rotation of registered public accounting firms. The SOX requested to the Comptroller General of the United States to conduct a study addressing this issue and the implications of this requirements. Although the PCAOB has expressed the importance of having some type of rotation in the registered CPA firms and in 2011 issued a concept release proposing mandatory auditfirm rotation, some congressman like Republican Robert Hurt have taken steps in order to avoid this type of regulations and the Audit Integrity and Job Protection Act was passed by the House of Representatives in 2013. These act prohibit the mandatory rotation of registered CPA firms arguing this decision correspond to the audit committee and the shareholders of the corporation and no to regulators. In my opinion, the mandatory registered CPA firm rotation is an unnecessary burden to impose to companies, especially small corporations, that would be force to be changing constantly and without any justification of CPA firm. The current audit partner rotation in CPA firms grant that each partner is liable for the work performed by him and his team which ensures the transparency and reliability of the audit they do. ... • 10. Gender, Age, And Ethnicity The Relationship of Gender, Age, and Ethnicity in the Dying Process Taylor Livingston Denver School of Nursing Abstract The relationships of gender, age, and ethnicity can all impact how a person will react and cope with the death of a loved one. Gender is impactful in the way that women are expected to much more emotional and dramatic in their response to death, where men expected to remain stoic and unaffected by a death as to not show weakness to those they are to protect. In children and adolescents its important to acknowledge age but also assess developmental level. Adults need to remain honest with children and be mindful of their actions because that s how they will learn to grieve positive or negative. Ethnicity and culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gender Gender can hold a strong influence in how an individual survives the death of a loved one. The general differences between males and females and the management of the grief process carries through from one culture to another. Most adults manage grief in the same way with the exception of parents losing a child. When parents loose a child they often experience the same emotions but they may not always be showing it in the same way (Christiansen 2014). Girls employed significantly more strategies to cope with stress compared to boys. (Kauser Munir 2004). One study that was referenced in the book Understanding Dying, Death, and Bereavement, women had greater tendencies to self mutilation and crying, while men would tend to direct aggression and anger away from themselves (Leming Dickinson 2016). During a traditional African funeral, the women would cry and moan, while the men would dance and sing, men are not to cry in front of women because they would appear weak before the very group they are supposed to protect (Leming Dickinson 2016). This way of thinking has the greatest influence on the way men grieve across many cultures and societies. One can wonder if that way of thinking hadn t been implemented then perhaps men and women would grieve more similarly. Another study mentioned in the book Understanding Dying, ... • 12. Who s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf Analysis Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf by Edward Albee is a play that addresses a variety of failures through it s rather dysfunctional characters. Albee indicates the failures within American Society; The 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis and the tensions between the East and the West. The political reflections by Albee are made through the characters of George and Nick, with George seemingly representing George Washington the first American president and Nick representing Nikita Khrushchev of the Soviet Union, as RoudanГ© notes this conflict was a terrible warning about the very precariousness of existence . It is a sense of warning which Albee explores through the presentation of his characters within the play and we too are made aware of the fragility of American Society. The most prominent failure within the play, however, could be argued to be the failure of gender stereotypes. Martha s opening line What a dump taken from the Bette Davis film Beyond the Forest . Acts as a summary of the entire play, her life is a metaphorical dump. The state of her house represents the failure of the nation and is presented as chaotic by Albee within the play. From the outset Martha does not fit with society s image of a woman, as Bottoms notes, Martha is a vindictive caricature of womanhood ,she enters the play with the word Jesus . Opening the play with profanity, something not appropriate for the ideal American housewife to say, establishes her as the plays pagan. Throughout the play ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is a famous philosopher, composer, and writer from the time period called the Age of Reason or the Enlightenment. He influenced many later philosophers and educators such as Maria Montessori and Jacques Derrida. Most of Rousseau s accomplishments were novels. The most famous novel Rousseau wrote was called Julie, Ou la Nouvelle Heloise . This novel was 800 pages and was a romantic novel about a Swiss women. This novel was very important because it sparked a revolution of romantic books for the future. The reason that it was so influential was that in this time period not many books were fiction and much less romance. When people enjoyed this novel they got inspired and wrote their own. I think Rousseau is considered an important historical figure because of his work with books. Also because of his influence to later philosophers. The primary sources from Wells, Washington, Turner, Du Bois, and Harper showed their separate opinions on how to better the lives of African Americans, and each person had positives and negatives, but the alternative offered by Ida B. Wells would have caused larger problems between the black and white communities. Two of the alternatives proposed were considered radical and almost dangerous to the African Americancommunity. The first radical idea was proposed by Ida B. Wells. She believed that the African American population needs to stand up against the government to show that the lynching and unjust treatment in America is unfair. Wells was famous for her boycotting of the railroads, and she wanted every household to have a gun just in case of emergencies involving the white people. These ideas were very radical for the time period because she wanted people to hurt others first, she famously states, The strong arm of the law must be brought to bear upon lynchers in severe punishment, but this cannot and will not be done unless a healthy public sentiment demands and sustains such action . Juvenile Justice And The Juvenile Court System Placing a juvenile in a detention center early in the court process increases the risk that youths will be found to be delinquent and damage their prospects for future success. A majority of the youths that are placed in these facilities pose little or no threat to the public and essentially do not need to be there. This portion of the juvenile court process is detrimental to the future and mental aspects of a youth s life. We desperately need to change the way that we handle the juvenile court system because we are only reinforcing the delinquent behavior that these youths have been exposed to. We need to focus on the rehabilitation and prevention efforts for these youths not the punishment aspect and until then (insert a better ending). The state juvenile corrections systems in the U.S. detain youth in several different types of facilities such as, group homes, residential treatment centers, wilderness programs, boot camps, country run youth facilities, and some of these are locked or secured through staff. Richard Mendel stated (2012), The latest official national count of youth in correctional custody, conducted in 2010, found that roughly 48,000 U.S. youth were confined in correctional facilities or other residential programs each night on the order of a juvenile delinquency court (p 1). A specific DNA pattern, called a profile, is obtained from an individual or a sample of tissue. DNA profiling has many uses, in prevention of economic fraud, dietetic work, and classifying species, identifying bodies, forensic science, screening for disease, and investigating paternity. • 25. The Heart And The Liver Essay The heart and the liver are closely related, and this has been known for many years. So, patients with acute and chronic heart failure develop symptoms related to the liver. In the setting of right sided heart failure a spectrum of hepatic derangements occur, known as Cardiac cirrhosis or congestive hepatopathy (Moller and Bernardi, 2013). The effect of cardiac cirrhosison prognosis is not that clear, but cardiac cirrhosis could be reversed after hearttransplantation. When a sudden and dramatic increase in serum hepatic transaminase occurs, associated with cardiogenic shock, this indicates severe hepatocellular necrosis named ischemic hepatitis (Crespo Leiro et al., 2008). On the contrary; chronic liver disease alone may have an effect on the function and electrophysiology of the heart in absence of other cardiac disease. This complex is collectively named cirrhotic cardiomyopathy that affects the patient prognosis and aggravates the course during invasive procedures such as surgery, insertion of a trans jugular intrahepatic porto systemic shunt (TIPS), and orthotropic liver transplantation (OLT) (Moller and Bernardi, 2013). The Simpson s uses the family lifestyle that many American TV shows have used over past (e.g. The Adam s family, The Flintstones) but The Simpson s has proved it is a lot more popular because it uses many more different forms of comedy which work with people from all ages. Intertextuality Of Love Throughout the ages, many have tried to comprehend the human experience of love and its ineffable and mysterious force that leads us to complete euphoria or utter despair, with songs, paintings, and stories. In Plato s Symposium, six guest including Socrates, tackle and attempt to define love amongst each other. With each attempt, and our study of Johns gospel, the intertextuality between the symposium and John 15:8 17 helps one better understand the portrait that John portrays of Jesusas the ultimate lover and only way to being fully complete. In the Farewell Discourse of Johns gospel, Jesus speaks of his abiding love and ultimate commandment given to his disciples. He tells his disciples, As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love... I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love you (John 15:9 12). This guide he gives to his disciples, as a way to live in relation to each other, can connect with that of Phaedrus idea of love. In the Symposium, Phaedrus speaks of love as a great god who gives the greatest goods and there is no greater good given to a boy than a lover. The lover is the guidance, to hold accountable the boy, just as we are held accountable by Jesus. He gives us this commandment of simply loving each other as he loves us and the Father him. The Voting Rights Act And Nationality Amendment Act Of 1965 The Impacts of the Voting Rights Act and Nationality Amendment Act of 1965 The Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s influenced the federal government to introduce new laws to better the country for Blacks and other minorities. The two major acts that passed were the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Nationality Amendments Act of 1965. President John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson helped ignite the fire for change in the United States (Shaw et. al. 2015: 207). My thesis is that the passings of the VotingRights Act of 1965 and the Nationality Amendments Act of 1965 successfully did overcome big problems with discrimination, but there is space to grow since some of the key provisions needed to be revise. First, The Voting Rights Actof 1965 passed when President John F. Kennedy was in office. The key provisions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 were to handle the voter discrimination and make voting rights more fair and restrictive. Before the Voting Rights Act of 1965, there were many obstacles to prevent blacks and other minorities from voting. In the era of the Jim Crow laws, many states created poll taxes and literacy tests for blacks to take before registering to vote (Menand. 2013: 4). As a doctrine that seeks to maximize pleasure and minimize pain, Utilitarian thinkers, including Bentham, would approve of any organization or set of practices that have the tendency to do so. The United Nationsis such an organization. Bentham firmly believed world governance was possible, at least under his utilitarian system (Pitts 212). The community is a fictitious body, composed of the individual persons who are considered as constituting as it were its members, (Bentham 1823, 586). In this quote Bentham refers to how single communities are merely collections of individuals. Since the distinctions between individuals are arbitrary the only objective grouping of people is to include the entire world population. As Bentham saw borders as imagined, he would approve of the coming together of humanity that the United Nations fosters. With its border crossing initiatives of conflict resolution and humanitarian aid, the United Nations is a source of good in the modern world and one that Bentham would endorse if he were here to do so, albeit with some concerns and recommendations. This dualist presentation of substance allows for a deductive ontological proof capable of predicting primary substance. Aristotle believes, Whenever one thing is predicated of another as of a subject, all things said of what is predicated will be said of the subject also. Cloud Computing System For Computing Cloud Computing Introduction Cloud computing system, which functions based on the concept of providing computing as a utility, can be defined as the method of providing resources for computing on demand, using remotely operational servers on the internet for data storage, processing data and managing data. Its equivalent to using a computer for its services, only without having to carry the hardware for it. Cloud applications, being dynamically scalable, agile and capable of running virtual applications and even an OS on a browser help in reducing costs of resource acquisition. A cloud computing model has the following basic features: Without involving any human interaction, the users can access any contracted service / resource, be it data processing, memory space or application programs as a service from the provider. These contracted services/ resources can be availed by any user anywhere, anytime via the internet. These computing resources are distributed in various data centres across the globe which is shared by users from any part of the world. It goes by pay what you use for policy. The user pays only for the resources they use. Also, a big advantage is that from a user s perspective, all the resources are unlimited, and flexible for access. Good QoS (Quality of Service) is guaranteed by the provider. The cloud services are elastic. So the user can ask for more services/ resources whenever they require, also terminate, when not required. However, since the recovery is just a few months old, there is still a lot of skepticism about whether it is for real and whether it has some legs to run further. I believe that it would take quite a while, at least a couple of years to get back to the economic levels (unemployment rate and housing market) of 2006. 3) Political/Legal segment This segment is an area where organizations compete for attention, resources and a voice in overseeing the body of laws and regulations guiding the interactions among nations. As the politics of regulations change, this segment influences the nature of competition through changing rules. An example is the global trend toward privatization of government owned or regulated firms. Firms must carefully analyze new political administration s business related policies and philosophies. Often, firms develop a political strategy to influence government policies and actions that might affect them. In the global scenario, more countries continue to join the World Trade Organization(WTO) as they seem to believe that free trade across nations serves the best interest of individual countries and their citizens. • 45. Citizenship As A Citizen Of A State A broad description of citizenship is to be a citizen of a state. This can entail numerous responsibilities and opportunities. With that in mind, it is easier to think of citizenship not just as something that is owned and held, like a piece of paper, but instead is a responsibility that holds positive consequences if a citizen upholds their end of the deal. Not only is it a responsibility, but it is a type of contract between the individual and the state. By making it a contract it holds those responsibilities and rewards that both sides obtain and uphold at an equal matter. Although some freedoms are often given up for citizenship, there is an understanding that the contract between the state and the citizen is not lessened. With the idea of a contract, it is interesting to explore what are the rights and responsibilities of both the individual and the state, and also how far does the state extend in the sense of citizenship as a contract, it is possible to have global citizenship. When discussing any sort of contract, an individual is generally more interested in how it benefits themselves. These benefits are known as rights. For these purposes, rights are something that are given to a citizen when they receive citizenship. In the United States, these include things such as the right to vote or the right to own a gun. What makes rights and freedoms different is that a right is not automatically assumed by a person what this means is that, a person can buy a gun for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How To Modernise Othello Good morning ladies and gentlemen, and I hope you re as excited as I am to be here, to discuss with you my new film pitch, a modern adaptation of one of Shakespeare s most loved classics, Othello. Despite being written to pander to the lowest common demoniter in Elizabethan times, Shakespeare, in our society, seems to be reserved for scholars and the well educated, with its use of language lowering it s accessibilty and providing us with a barrier to enjoyment , making it relatively obsolete in our times. Modernising Othello provides an opportunity to transform the play into an understandable and relevant story, whilst preserving the themes, values and attitudes portrayed in the original, however, manipulating them to resonate with a modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Entitled The Treachery of Images , the film makes reference to Magritte s infamous pipe painting, reminding us that we should not necessarily believe in what we see and think, as deception lies in every nook and cranny in our lives, meaning that nothing can truly be trusted. This is a modern and novel nod to Othello, as the play itself is an adept exploration of the faces of good and evil, proving the end point that nothing, and no one, are truly what they seem. My vision re casts Othello as Oliver, a 20th century English Duke, who, despite his constant questioning of the church and it s values, is appointed as mayor of a small village, leaving the metropolitan haven of the city, and into a place where he is neither trusted nor accepted. With him come his faithful and sweet wife, Dorothea, who married him against her heavily religious fathers wishes, and his two sons, Ichabod and Charles. Whilst Oliver trusts, and supposedly favours, Ichabod, Charles is far more successful than his brother, meaning he is named sole heir of the families wealth and estate. For fair natured and trustworthy Ichabod, this would be a choice that he would support wholly, however, a changling has taken his place, a curse put upon him by the God that he questions so freely. Under the pretense of being Ichabod, the changeling begins to wreak havoc, coaxing Oliver into pyschosis and convincing him that there is something Oedipal occuring between Charles and Dorothea, and eventually causing Oliver to murder ... • 50. Importance Of Tidal Energy Electricity Culminating Renewable Energy Project Nazia Nusrat SNC 1D A. Cook December 17, 2017 Why should tidal energy be a common renewable energy source in the future? Tidal energy is a form of hydroelectricity that is provided from the rise and fall of tides. Due to the Moon s gravitational force, bodies of water rise and fall, the force created can be turned into a form of renewable energy. Tidal power was first introduced in the 19th century in U.S and Europe. In 1966, the Rance Tidal Power Station, was operated in France, being the first large scale tidal system. Tidal energy is more predictable than solar panels and wind turbines. The sun isn t always out to provide light and the wind depends on the weather. Tides are almost always there and the ocean is more understood than the temperature or the sun. Tidal energy is much more reliable and renewable than other sources such as fossil fuels which cause acid rain, and nuclear power and its radiation. Since the ocean is much denser than air, tidal turbines generate more electricity and therefore are more efficient compared to wind turbines. Hydro power in general is considered more efficient and converts the most energy to electricity than other renewable energy sources. Tidal power is also inexpensive compared to other renewable energy sources as shown below in this chart. Tidal power plants also have a very long lifespan. The oldest plant, La Rance, in ...
