This document outlines a case study method that will examine the lives of six children and two inquiries and their impact on child protection policy in the UK. It will compare these cases to those of Thompson and Venables. The specific children and inquiries that will be examined are Dennis O'Neil, Maria Colwell, Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, Victoria Climbie, Peter Connolly, the Cleveland Enquiry, and the Orkney Enquiry. Students are assigned to research one of the earlier cases, Maria Colwell or Dennis O'Neil, and prepare a PEEL paragraph to discuss in next week's session.
