Interpretive Strategies
1. Historicism considers the literary work in light of "what really happened" during the period reflected in that work. It insists that to understand a piece, we need to understand the author's biography and social background, ideas circulating at the time, and the cultural milieu. Historicism also "finds significance in the ways a particular work resembles or differs from other works of its period and/or genre," and therefore may involve source studies. It may also include examination of philology and linguistics. It is typically a discipline involving impressively extensive research.
2. New Criticism examines the relationships between a text's ideas and its form, "the connection between what a text says and the way it's said." New Critics/Formalists "may find tension, irony, or paradox in this relation, but they usually resolve it into unity and coherence of meaning." New Critics look for patterns of sound, imagery, narrative structure, point of view, and other techniques discernible on close reading of "the work itself." They insist that the meaning of a text should not be confused with the author's intentions nor the text's affective dimension--its effects on the reader. The objective determination as to "how a piece works" can be found through close focus and analysis, rather than through extraneous and erudite special knowledge.
3. Archetypal criticism "traces cultural and psychological 'myths' that shape the meaning of texts." It argues that "certain literary archetypes determine the structure and function of individual literary works," and therefore that literature imitates not the world but rather the "total dream of humankind." Archetypes (recurring images or symbols, patterns, universal experiences) may include motifs such as the quest or the heavenly ascent, symbols such as the apple or snake, or images such as crucifixion--all laden with meaning already when employed in a particular work.
4. Psychoanalytic criticism adopts the methods of "reading" employed by Freud and later theorists to interpret what a text really indicates. It argues that "unresolved and sometimes unconscious ambivalences in the author's own life may lead to a disunified literary work," and that the literary work is a manifestation of the author's own neuroses. Anxiousness has been an issue that I faced for years. I always felt that things had to be done within a certain time frame in the day or in my life. If it seemed like I was not going to make a deadline or something that I felt like I was supposed to do that day, then I would go through an anxiety ritual that made me look like I was an unreasonable person. I thought that if things fell into place the way I thought they should, then everything was alright in my world. Well, what I found out is that nothing is ever going to go the way I want it to all the time or in my own time frame. Events take place that

I’ve learned that I’m not always in control of events that happen in my everyday life, so it’s useless and immature to get upset or anxious about things that I can’t control or not responsible for in life. Critical thinking has helped me deal with anxiety in a positive way. I’ve learned to think about the whole picture of why I’m stuck on a timeline and what would the outcome be if I didn’t make the timeline or event. Would I be in a negative place? Would it affect me as much as I thought it would? Would anyone else suffer from my actions? All these questions had the same answer, No. So, I decided to do what I could in the time that I had and not worry about getting everything done in a certain amount of time. It is no secret that our nation and our public conversation about LGBT matters has changed in the last, not only 100 years, but more drastically in the last 20 years. This week we watched the dramatized version of The Laramie Project. A play that was written to expose and relay the stories and horrific events of that day that happened to Mathew Shepard. As mentioned before, this is a play that is performed all over the United States. This play, like so many other plays that deal with LGBT themes and issues have been coming more and more to the fray of our national and public conversation. We have seen the rise of gay and lesbian characters in all of our entertainment including TV, film, and of course the Theatre. We see how the last 20 years of LGBT pointed entertainment has shaped the political discourse of our nations power brokers. We are changing laws and shaping society to a far greater degree in even the last 5 years so as to tackle the discrimination against this particular group. Gay marriages are now legal all over the states and those that would decry the LGBT lifestyle as something to be covered or shunned for cultural or religious reasons are now beginning to be seen as radical and out of touch where just 10-15 years ago those same voices held the majority of political power in our nation. How far we have come from even prop 8 in California that would have legalized same sex marriage in the state but was soundly struck down in 2008. If that prop was up for vote today it would win resoundingly.

The suicide bombing that took place April 3, 2017 on the metro line in St. Petersburg brought horror back to Russia’s reality, as it claimed 14 lives and injured 51 others (“St. Petersburg Attack: What We Know,” 2017). While this terrified the nation anew, the sad reality is that this is just one more in the list of attacks by terrorists on public infrastructure that have rocked the country since 2009 (“St. Petersburg Attack: What We Know,” 2017). The fact that this event took place in such a commonly used area/line of transportation creates fear, not just in the people of Russia, but in people all around the world, as it shows how quickly terrorism can strike and how hard it is to prevent.
The United States has a unique approach to dealing with the matter of terrorism and trying to prevent future attacks, and the nine questions in the article outline what each one of them are. The questions try to make sure the information acquired about attacks result in real information, and not the conjectures that have been common in the media as of late. They focus on quickly determining if another attack is likely to come, who was involved, and both the ties and the motivation that the attacker had (“St. Petersburg Attack: What We Know,” 2017). The importance of these questions are in the way that they try to quickly establish whether the authorities need to be urgently searching for another possible site of attack and related bombs, as well as whether the people who did it are dead or on the loose. These all matter in trying to contain the damage from such attacks and limit the chance that they will happen again.
All nine of the questions are helpful and important ones to consider, but the top two that are the most important are “Is there another attack coming?” and “Were the attackers part of a larger network?” (Byman, 2017). The first question that tries to discern if another attack is coming is important because this is how law enforcement can know to search other similar, or related, places, and to alert the public to stay in doors. This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
