Defining your racial and ethnic identities has to do with how you classify race and identity and how others categorize them as well. Race refers to the conception that people can be categorized into groups based on skin color, hair texture, and facial features. Japanese is an example of a racial group. Ethnicity refers to a group of people who share a sense of connectedness based on national origin, language, or religion. Irish-Catholic is an example of an ethnic group. The term
culture
also appears in discussions about race and ethnicity. Culture refers to shared attitudes and behaviors, such as customs. People of the same race and ethnicity often share culture as well, and you may notice some overlap between culture, race, and ethnicity.
There are different approaches used to define racial and ethnic identities. Your text emphasizes an approach called
constructionism
. Constructionists argue that definitions of race and ethnicity cannot be separated from social processes, such as political, legal, economic, and other outside influences. They believe that these outside influences "construct" definitions of race and ethnicity, and definitions change as social processes change. For example, black children in the 1950s may have felt they were not as valued, not as competent, and not as "good" as white children because social processes at the time supported these ideas. Political and economic influences favored white children over black children. Social processes in the current era reject favoring white children over black children. Constructionism has both benefits and limitations when you consider your own racial and ethnic identities.

Weekly Discussion Board Response
The weekly discussion board response serves as a forum for students to participate and discuss assigned readings with classmates and the professor. This weekly assignment is broken down into 2 parts: (1) your response and (2) commenting on two other posts. The class has been organized to include the same amount of readings as a class that would meet in person. Each student is required to write a response about the Tuesday reading by Thursday – no later than 6:00 PM EST (I am including eastern standard time because several students are taking the class while outside of the country).
Students are expected to write responses that are three paragraphs in length and demonstrate a strong understanding of the themes, events, and people contained in the readings. In addition, each student must pick two other student posts and comment on their response for the week. Comments should be constructive, thoughtful and focused. The purpose of the each student’s comment response is to promote dialogue between students that would typically occur in a classroom setting. Comments should be one paragraph.
Weekly Response Paper
Students are responsible for writing a response paper at the end of each week. The paper’s topic will draw from the readings assigned for that week. The paper’s question (or set of questions) will build off the weekly discussion response. The purpose of the weekly response paper is for students to demonstrate that they have completed the assigned readings and can critically apply the material to larger questions of history and political economy. The paper should follow the basic format of: introduction, body, conclusion, and footnotes that follow the Chicago-style format (do not cite in the body of the text). All papers should contain the student’s own, individual voice that is supported with evidence and facts drawn from the assigned readings. Other secondary sources used to complement or strengthen your argument are acceptable, however Wikipedia entries and blog posts are not acceptable as sources.

One major claim that he points upon is the mestizo concept that coincides with Indian racism. Within this concept, he uses first hand references that have witnessed this racism and have also offered diagnostics on this idea as well.

Background:
Many Americans like to imagine the history of their nation as one of continual progress. While acknowledging that not all persons and groups enjoyed equal rights at all times, Americans often take it for granted that American history moves in only one direction: toward greater rights, greater freedom, and greater equality. This perspective makes it difficult for many Americans to understand the Reconstruction period and to place it in a broader historical narrative. The problem they face is that African Americans from roughly 1867 to 1875 enjoyed far more political influence and equal rights than they ever had before, or ever would again until the end of the modern Civil Rights Movement almost a century later. The fact that a group could be stripped of rights it once enjoyed is difficult for many Americans to accept, and so they often retreat into a false narrative, in which African Americans never gained any rights at all, and were abandoned to their fate as soon as slavery ended. In this model, the infamous Black Codes—which were in effect for less than a year—take center stage, and the various gains of Reconstruction get ignored.

Defining your racial and ethnic identities has to do with how you classify race and identity and how others categorize them as well. Race refers to the conception that people can be categorized into groups based on skin color, hair texture, and facial features. Japanese is an example of a racial group. Ethnicity refers to a group of people who share a sense of connectedness based on national origin, language, or religion. Irish-Catholic is an example of an ethnic group. The term
culture
also appears in discussions about race and ethnicity. Culture refers to shared attitudes and behaviors, such as customs. People of the same race and ethnicity often share culture as well, and you may notice some overlap between culture, race, and ethnicity.
There are different approaches used to define racial and ethnic identities. Your text emphasizes an approach called
constructionism
. Constructionists argue that definitions of race and ethnicity cannot be separated from social processes, such as political, legal, economic, and other outside influences. They believe that these outside influences "construct" definitions of race and ethnicity, and definitions change as social processes change. For example, black children in the 1950s may have felt they were not as valued, not as competent, and not as "good" as white children because social processes at the time supported these ideas. Political and economic influences favored white children over black children. Social processes in the current era reject favoring white children over black children. Constructionism has both benefits and limitations when you consider your own racial and ethnic identities.

Weekly Discussion Board Response

This weekly assignment is broken down into 2 parts: (1) your response and (2) commenting on two other posts. One major claim that he points upon is the mestizo concept that coincides with Indian racism. Within this concept, he uses first hand references that have witnessed this racism and have also offered diagnostics on this idea as well.

Background:
Many Americans like to imagine the history of their nation as one of continual progress. While acknowledging that not all persons and groups enjoyed equal rights at all times, Americans often take it for granted that American history moves in only one direction: toward greater rights, greater freedom, and greater equality. This perspective makes it difficult for many Americans to understand the Reconstruction period and to place it in a broader historical narrative. The problem they face is that African Americans from roughly 1867 to 1875 enjoyed far more political influence and equal rights than they ever had before, or ever would again until the end of the modern Civil Rights Movement almost a century later. The fact that a group could be stripped of rights it once enjoyed is difficult for many Americans to accept, and so they often retreat into a false narrative, in which African Americans never gained any rights at all, and were abandoned to their fate as soon as slavery ended. In this model, the infamous Black Codes—which were in effect for less than a year—take center stage, and the various gains of Reconstruction get ignored.

Anxiousness has been an issue that I faced for years. I always felt that things had to be done within a certain time frame in the day or in my life. If it seemed like I was not going to make a deadline or something that I felt like I was supposed to do that day, then I would go through an anxiety ritual that made me look like I was an unreasonable person. I thought that if things fell into place the way I thought they should, then everything was alright in my world. Well, what I found out is that nothing is ever going to go the way I want it to all the time or in my own time frame. Events take place that

an effect on my (and everyone’s) life that

going to create different outcomes to something that was planned. I’ve learned that I’m not always in control of events that happen in my everyday life, so it’s useless and immature to get upset or anxious about things that I can’t control or not responsible for in life. Critical thinking has helped me deal with anxiety in a positive way. I’ve learned to think about the whole picture of why I’m stuck on a timeline and what would the outcome be if I didn’t make the timeline or event. Would I be in a negative place? Would it affect me as much as I thought it would? Would anyone else suffer from my actions? All these questions had the same answer, No. So, I decided to do what I could in the time that I had and not worry about getting everything done in a certain amount of time. I’ve also learned to take deep breaths to help calm myself down so that I could begin to rationalize my thoughts when I’m faced with pre-anxiety.

It is no secret that our nation and our public conversation about LGBT matters has changed in the last, not only 100 years, but more drastically in the last 20 years. This latest generation of kids (Millennials) have grown up in the most accepting and diverse American culture to date with respect to LGBT individuals, their families, and the issues they stand for.
This week we watched the dramatized version of The Laramie Project. A play that was written to expose and relay the stories and horrific events of that day that happened to Mathew Shepard. As mentioned before, this is a play that is performed all over the United States. This play, like so many other plays that deal with LGBT themes and issues have been coming more and more to the fray of our national and public conversation. We have seen the rise of gay and lesbian characters in all of our entertainment including TV, film, and of course the Theatre. We see how the last 20 years of LGBT pointed entertainment has shaped the political discourse of our nations power brokers. We are changing laws and shaping society to a far greater degree in even the last 5 years so as to tackle the discrimination against this particular group. Gay marriages are now legal all over the states and those that would decry the LGBT lifestyle as something to be covered or shunned for cultural or religious reasons are now beginning to be seen as radical and out of touch where just 10-15 years ago those same voices held the majority of political power in our nation. How far we have come from even prop 8 in California that would have legalized same sex marriage in the state but was soundly struck down in 2008. If that prop was up for vote today it would win resoundingly.
The waves of change are boundless and can be seen almost daily as we here more reports of judges, states, and the federal government ending discrimination all over the nation. Remember that a historic ruling from the US Supreme court, you can be gay and allowed to marry who you love and with who makes you happy in all 50 states.

The suicide bombing that took place April 3, 2017 on the metro line in St. Petersburg brought horror back to Russia’s reality, as it claimed 14 lives and injured 51 others (“St. Petersburg Attack: What We Know,” 2017). While this terrified the nation anew, the sad reality is that this is just one more in the list of attacks by terrorists on public infrastructure that have rocked the country since 2009 (“St. Petersburg Attack: What We Know,” 2017). The fact that this event took place in such a commonly used area/line of transportation creates fear, not just in the people of Russia, but in people all around the world, as it shows how quickly terrorism can strike and how hard it is to prevent.
The United States has a unique approach to dealing with the matter of terrorism and trying to prevent future attacks, and the nine questions in the article outline what each one of them are. The questions try to make sure the information acquired about attacks result in real information, and not the conjectures that have been common in the media as of late. They focus on quickly determining if another attack is likely to come, who was involved, and both the ties and the motivation that the attacker had (“St. Petersburg Attack: What We Know,” 2017). The importance of these questions are in the way that they try to quickly establish whether the authorities need to be urgently searching for another possible site of attack and related bombs, as well as whether the people who did it are dead or on the loose. These all matter in trying to contain the damage from such attacks and limit the chance that they will happen again.
All nine of the questions are helpful and important ones to consider, but the top two that are the most important are “Is there another attack coming?” and “Were the attackers part of a larger network?” (Byman, 2017). The first question that tries to discern if another attack is coming is important because this is how law enforcement can know to search other similar, or related, places, and to alert the public to stay in doors. Additionally, it can help police keep an eye on suspicious persons in areas that would be prime targets for terrorism because of their potential casualty count, and so this question provides the high alert that is necessary. Furthermore, the question regarding whether the attackers were part of a larger network is important to ask and answer because these networks result in future attacks and a general state of concern regarding their mission (Byman, 2017). If the network is identified and put at the center of investigations, then authorities can learn enough about it to hopefully disrupt future plans for violence and destruction. Getting to know the enemy is the key to beating him, and in terrorism this is a complicated undertaking, but one that has to be done in order to increase security.

The enactment of policy remains the ultimate responsibility of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC).

All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.

This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. - 1. Your final exam paper will require you to answer 2 essay questions (each question between 5 to 6 pages), a total of 10 to 12 pages for both questions. You will be graded on the following: 1) COMPOSITION: grammar, syntax, spelling, organization 2) CONTENT: information & data 3) CREATIVITY: originality of approach and ideas 4) CRITICAL ANALYSIS: sociological imagination 5) CITATION: sources; references of each textbook, each film clip, email discussions/articles, class lectures/discussion, bibliography/works cited -page. In order to provide a critical analysis, in addition to sourcing your required readings, film clips, lectures, & class discussion posts, your paper should enliven your "historical and legal imagination" and incorporate the lectures and readings fully and extensively. When developing essays, please answer and address the questions in the assignment prompt, constructing a cogent, coherent essay supported with logic, reason & empirical evidence. Please note that these are two separate essays!!!!
